My family of 5 (kids aged 14,12,8) enjoyed our stay at Hummingbird house. The 3 bedrooms suited our needs and we appreciated the single room having the trundle bed set up (this was a thoughtful jesture). We loved the covered patio and outdoor dining and made good use of the barbeque after our off shore fishing excursion. The patio chairs were comfortable to lounge on and the hammock was a relaxing place to listen to the ocean. The pool is about 5 feet deep and we all spent hours in the evening enjoying it. The kitchen functions well and has ample plates/cups etc for the cooking we were doing (way too much ice cream!) We were able to watch the Leafs win 2 games on the living room TV. The walk to bottom bay is only a few minutes at best. What a beautiful beach (even with sargassum). My kids loved playing in the waves (the undertow is strong - this is not a calm beach but one of our favorites on the island). We met Ash who made us fresh coconut drinks. My husband drove after dark near the end of our trip. Once you know the roads it is ok but not well lit. Since Barbados is a small island, we drove all over (Bathsheba, Animal Flower Cave, Folkstone Marine Park, Wildlife Sanctuary, Heywoods Beach, Carlisle Bay, Oistin Fish Fry, Maxwell Beach, Crane Beach, Miami Beach). We felt safe throughout our travels - a car is a must if staying here. Jane, the property manager is very sweet and attended to any issue quickly. A great place for quiet and natural beauty with a local vibe.
