Tim and Megan here! Thanks so much for checking out our cabin! We are life-long Kansans, and we love the Midwest, spending time outdoors, and experiencing new adventures. Tim started building the cabin in 2017, and the project took most of the year. Is a contractor’s work ever finished, haha?! We will most likely always have small projects going on up there in hopes to continue enhancing guest experience and satisfaction.
If you can believe it, the cabin was born out of the need for (just) a bathroom when Tim's sister and her family would come to camp during the summer. But, when Tim sets his mind to something and the creative juices start to flow, well, you just let him run with it! The cabin is completely hand-crafted with the stairs and counters being cut using a chainsaw sawmill, and the posts of the porches are cedars from the family-owned pasture it sits in. Tim’s grandpa had the pond dug by a local in the 1950's, using dynamite and bulldozers.
Karibu is Swahili for, “you are welcome.” Tim’s mom grew up in Tanzania, Africa, where her father was a missionary. When you knock on the door there, you hope to hear a bold and hearty, “Karibu!” That is the embodiment of what we want you to feel during your time spent at the cabin. You are welcome! Please make yourselves at home. Make new memories with your children, and spend quality time with your family. There is nothing more important in this world than that!
