This was an extremely upsetting experience that turned what should have been a relaxing vacation with friends and family into a nightmare. We rented the home for three nights with 12 overnight guests. On our second day, several family members who live nearby came for a brief daytime visit and brunch. Around 1:00 p.m., the host arrived and confronted us in a manner I found hostile and intimidating. He said one vehicle was partially blocking a neighbor’s driveway. I immediately offered to move it, but instead of allowing us to correct the issue, the situation escalated. The host accused us of having more than 12 people staying at the property, which was not true. The additional people were daytime visitors that came to have brunch. We found no provision in the rental agreement provided to us prohibiting temporary daytime visitors. Despite our explanation and offer to fix the parking issue, the host demanded that we pack and leave within approximately 30 minutes. He also told us he was watching us. which made the situation even more uncomfortable.I provided documentation and evidence, and with an attorney’s assistance, the circumstances and rental terms were reviewed.I appreciate Vrbo’s Resolution Team for taking my concerns seriously and reviewing the evidence. Vrbo ultimately refunded the unused portion of our stay and apologized for our experience. The resolution and apology came from Vrbo, not the host.I’m sharing this so future guests can make an informed decision.
