About the property

5 bedrooms sleeps 10

Great home on the Delaware Bay the NJ side. The house is on a bird preserve so there is a lot of wild life around. In the early summer the horse shoe crabs come lay their eggs attracting many different birds and fish. The turtles also come up and lay there eggs on the property in early July. There is a 100 foot fishing pier part of the home and ideal for the fisherman with a clean station. The home has a full kitchen, AC, Heat, washer and dryer, outdoor shower. The location is also good. 25 minutes to Avalon or 25 minutes to Cape May.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Here’s what Laureen wrote

“Location, location, location!!! Birder's paradise!! We had a wonderful few days at Alex's home! The deck is as beautiful as pictured and we were able to fish, sun and eat right on the water. Our primary interest was birding and we had water on one side and a wildlife management area on the other-spectacular! Ospreys flew overhead regularly. The house was spacious with plenty of sleeping space and 2 baths,a kitchen with a dishwasher as well as a W/D. The TV was large and had DISH. Cell signal was fine and the wifi worked well from a Jetpack. Alex was a wonderful host and was available immediately for questions and helpful info. Cape May (our original destination) was 30 minutes away, but given the phenomenal local birding from our own dock and at Matt's Landing and Thompson beach only minutes away, we only went there once. Groceries and restaurants (except for one very good diner) are about 25 minutes away, so you might want to get your groceries on the way in. Having my beloved dog with me while enjoying the area made for a fantastic vacation! We hope to return next year!”

Laureen’s private feedback for you:

What Laureen loved about your listing:

“The location and dock with the ability to fish right out your door was the best! For birding enthusiasts, the location can't be beat. I can't say how much it meant to have my dog with me-all the difference in the world!! Alex was always available without being intrusive. It was a really wonderful "

Great House & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

The location of this house is great. It feels very secluded and peaceful, but there is a Wawa, gas station and diner about 15 mins. away. Layout was perfect for 6 adults and 2 children. Rooms were a good size and the open kitchen, dining, living room was great for everyone to hang out together. The bathrooms are big with plenty of space to put your stuff. The deck is huge with plenty of chairs. I loved listening to the waves at night and waking up to the birds chirping in the morning. East Point Lighthouse was right down the street and we walked there a couple times. The internet went out, but always came back after we turned the box off and on (there is a battery backup, so you have to make sure it actually goes off before you turn it on again). We also recommend bringing bottled water. Great house, thank you for letting us stay there.

Owner's Response: Thanks for nice review. The reviews are very helpful in renting.Without the extra rental income it would be hard to run the home , a lot of up keep with home on the water.

Fantastic view!

  • 5 of 5

Comfy house, fantastic water views, amazing sunsets! Boys enjoyed fishing off the pier, girls loved the sun on the deck. Renters next door were very nice. We'd go back!

Only downfall was: no close grocery stores. Alex, the owner was quite helpful with questions.

Quiet solitude

  • 5 of 5

We had an enjoyable 5 day stay. The house was comfortable and well-appointed. Fantastic view across Delaware Bay with beautiful sunsets. Owner is really helpful--excellent communication. There was a miscommunication with his cleaning person, so he credited us without being asked. Within 30-45 minute drive of everything in Cape May County. Kayaks are available for use (although we didn't take them out). Exploring salt marshes is fun, but not when the green-headed flies are peaking. Thanks for the great stay.

Exactly as advertised

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as advertised. The pictures are a true testament to the property. We enjoyed sitting on the expansive deck first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and last thing at night with a glass of wine. There were 2 outdoor grills available (gas and charcoal) plus a fully functional kitchen. There was plenty of room for everyone (6 adults, 4 children and 2 small dogs) We all enjoyed walking out to the end of the fishing pier and watching the turtles bouncing in the waves. There were tons of horseshoe crabs, birds and other wildlife. The walk to the nearby lighthouse was one of our favorite excursions and the short drive to the Cape May Zoo and Stone Harbor beach made this entire trip well worth every penny. We will be sure to check the availability of this property first when we plan our next vacation. The owner is very responsive to messages and answered every question I had. Overall an excellent experience! Thank you for sharing this property, we hope to be back.

Perfect for Fun, Rest and Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This was the second year we had a family vacation at the Bay House. Ages 5 to 60+ and everyone had a great time and didn't want to leave. My favorite part is the deck, and this year the front and side decks were rebuilt giving us even more room. More than enough room for Cornhole and lots of places for sitting out and eating out. Of course, the pier is our favorite hangout, for crabbing, fishing, flying kites, watching eagles, reading a book and keeping an eye on the kids kayaking. This year we experienced the tides during the full moon. It was surprising how far out the low tide went uncovering large areas of sand. We love the house as well. The open floor plan makes it perfect of all ages to be involved in different activities while still in the same area. The kitchen is well equipped and the dishwasher, washer and dryer make cleanup hassle free. My husband loves the rest and relaxation, though we did get him out for a little antiquing and to eat at 2 local restaurants. This year we didn't have a campfire because it was too windy, but we did the year before and it is just delightful. To keep this review honest, the internet worked for several days and then cut out, but we didn't miss it cause there were better things to do (we didn't bother Alex about it cause we honestly didn't miss it). Also, the bedrooms do not have closets. Last year we brought a shower tension rod and placed it at the top of the stairs, this year we forgot. Alex always replies to calls and emails quickly. We look forward to visiting again.
