Perfect family getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve loved staying at Emerald Hill the past two summers, but this rental really made that easy! I traveled with my 6 month old and we could have left so much at home because the rental was already equipped with a pack and play along with chairs and some toys. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and dining supplies. We found the place clean and well-suited for 4 adults and one child. The dryer vent tubing had a hole in it which made any laundry take longer to dry, but that was the only issue we had the whole stay!

We had an issue with the coffee pot not working and Benchmark brought us a new one quickly. The sinks drained slowly but it wasn’t a big problem. Other than that, no complaints at all!

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This rental property is pretty worn and tired. There were a few issues. The toilet in one of the bathrooms leaked, we contacted Benchmark Management and no one came to repair it, instead we were told not to use that toilet. One of the sinks in the bathroom didn't drain and the property overall was well worn and not as clean as we would have liked.

Nice beach, Condo needs attention

Pros: The beach. This is a small complex and the private beach was not crowded which made the beach days so much more enjoyable and relaxing with small kids. Cons: The unit is in desperate need of a deep cleaning. Even basic cleaning was not done well before our arrival (floors sticky, fans covered with dust, kitchen cabinets visibly dirty). Other items in the unit need more detailed cleaning or work done. There was mold on the ceiling of the second bedroom closet. The area rugs are so dirty our kids feet were black after walking barefoot in the unit as soon as we arrived. I found cockroaches on two different occasions/places. The patio door handles were broken (could still open the doors but not by the handle). An electrical outlet in the second bedroom didn’t work. The glass table in the kitchen had a chip out of it (small but if my kids ran their hand over it, it could cut them). I did communicate some of the broken items to the management company upon our arrival. They offered to have someone come fix them but we decided we did not want the hassle of having someone come in to repair or clean after we arrived. We clorox wiped surfaces down and I kept the door to the moldy closet closed. However, in my opinion, it does not seem like anyone from a management company has walked through this unit in some time. The area and complex are great, but guests would have a much better experience if these items were addressed. All of this was communicated to the management company after we left when they sent an email questionnaire about our stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Emerald hill 36 is a great place and I would stay there again. However, the condo was completely barren of certain common amenities. No coffee filter, salt pepper, box of tissues, etc. Occupants most often leave hand soap, aluminum foil, and many other common kitchen items. The kitchen is completely stripped of anything. Given the amount of people the condo sleeps, it is not stocked with enough towels and wash clothes.

Wonderful family vacation

Loved the unit and complex. Beautiful beach. Quiet. Perfect for our family. May have been an off day for the cleaning crew, but that was the only part that didn’t exceed expectations. Would definitely consider staying there again.

Our stay

Nice place, two good sized bedrooms and lots of living space on second floor. It was clean and we didn’t experience any issues during our stay. I would recommend.

Reviewer Comments: I have already called to complain and am waiting on a manager to respond to my complaint. When we arrived at the unit it was not clean. We called the first day we were there and were told someone would be over to do a "thorough cleaning". The cleaning staff arrived and only spent 5 minutes removing large clumps of hair from the master bath shower. We had to spend our first evening of our vacation cleaning and sanitizing everything. There was food on the table, pieces of food on the cabinet that held the garbage can, the half bath was visibly dirty, etc. We had no idea what had been cleaned. We should at a minimum be reimbursed the cleaning fee. We will never be staying at a Benchmark managed property again.

DISGUSTING! Pictures shown on VRBO website IS NOT what you get in rental

When we booked this rental a couple of months ago we thought wow. Honestly the pictures sold us. We could not wait to get into the rental and have a great vacation. Upon arriving is was obvious those pictures we saw on the VRBO website WAS NOT what we got. The place was filthy! The furniture was dirty, spots all over it, and just grossly dirty. The floors and staircase had not been mopped. Paint was cracking behind the thermostat, a bug in the EXL Twin bed in second bedroom, door handle hanging on the sliding glass in master bath, unfinished work in master bath where 1/4 of the wall was missing, and the toilet was leaking and kept running. I did call the property manager and they sent over 3 towels to wrap around the toilet instead of fixing it. With Covdi-19 being on the rise in every state you would think their cleaning procedures would be over the top. It's obvious Benchmark doesn't care. I spent the first day washing sheets, cloroxing toilets, bathrooms, vacuuming, and disinfecting because I wasn't confident that this place had been sanitized in months!. I sent many emails with pictures to Benchmark and they took a slow time responding to me. I spoke to a Jessica the first day regarding my concerns and she was the one who told me she would see what kind of reimbursement we could get back. After several emails initiated by me with different people I was notified that I would not be receiving any kind of refund. They felt they addressed my concerns. Nothing was addressed nor was it fixed properly and the amount of work I put into cleaning that place was ignored by the agency. Pictures are worth a thousand words and I wish I could post the pictures that I had taken of this place. Don't waste your money because you'll spend more money on cleaning products..

Complex is right on the beach

Emerald Hill complex is right on the beach. The beach right at EH is not very nice, but a 5 minute walk in either direction will bring you to much prettier beaches & clearer waters.

Location was super convenient - bike and paddle board rentals just across the street. Could walk to the Donut Hut - a must try - and Tom Thumb gas station for other necessities. The until is beautifully decorated - light and airy! And it looks out into the pool which we liked. The private beach is a little small and gets quite crowded but we walked down the beach a little bit and it was fine. Unit was well equipped and everything was in good working order. We loved it!

Good value

Great decor, amazing new appliances, close walk to beach. Road traffic a bit noisy in front bedroom. Would have appreciated few extra amenities-laundry detergent, Kleenex, extra toilet tissue, trash bags, personal touches. Overall would recommend-good property.
