About this property
HOUSE - 1st & 2nd Floor 5 bedrooms, 2 BATHROOMS 4,000 sq ft NO use of 3rd floor
Glorious historical home in the center of Baldwin City, Kansas home of Baker University. The house was built in 1902 as the first fraternity Delta Tau Delta. In 1912 the house became the first chapter house for the Zeta Tau Alpa sorority of BU. It has been the family home of Dr. Ray and Olivia Jones since 1963 and continues to be owned by their only daughter, Carolyn "Ruthie" Goldey.
The house has a large kitchen, dinette, bathroom, first-floor bedroom and bath, dining room with attached library, large living room area with a grand piano, screened-in porch, and grand foyer. The second floor has a full library study, four large bedrooms, bath. The third floor is for private family use. TWO BATHROOMS...one on first floor and one on second floor!
The yard is full of old Pinoaks and White Oak, Red Maple, Silver Maple and a Missississippi Magnolia planted by Oliva from her beloved home state. An arbor in the back of the house graces a 70 year old Concord Grape plant.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OWNERS LIVE IN THE HOUSE WHEN NOT RENTED. THUS THE REASON FOR QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR REASON FOR RENTING.
THE HOUSE IS DESIGNED TO BE RENTED TO SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS THAT WE ARE SHARING THIS TREASURE as a source to be able to help us fund the home. WE desire that the house be treasured and enjoyed as it enriches your life. We will gladly move out for the time of your stay if we feel like you would be BLESSED by your stay. PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH ME AND I WILL WORK WITH YOU TO HELP MAKE IT A TRUE EXPERIENCE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR LIFE.

About the host
Hosted by Ruthie Goldey

I grew up in this home with my parents Dr. Ray and Olivia Jones and my five younger brothers. When my parents passed away they gave me the home to share with my extended family of children and grandchildren.
We live in the home off and on throughout the year. My primary address is in Florida. My husband is a retired Colonel in the Air Force who spent 31 years serving our great country.

Why they chose this property
I inherited this house from my parents to cherish and share with the family and community much like they did as they served Baldwin City and Baker University as a physician, nurse, and minister. I have chosen to open the house to the public to share the historical value of the home and share the Word of God with all who choose to stay with us. Because the house has lots to offer to travelers as well as family members.
What makes this property unique
It is a beautifully restored example of a historical past. Dr. Ray has an extensive collection of Bibles, Greek Bibles, and Hebrew Bibles as well as many commentaries. He also has old medical books and journals. My mother has a large collection of Missionary books and old hymn books.
The home is offered to enrich the life of anyone who comes through the doors. We pray that each person who stays will be blessed by their time in the home.
