This was such a great spot - barely outside the south end of town but feeling like you are in the country. House was very well appointed, spacious, with a very updated feel. I would definitely stay there again!

Wonderful, charming place to stay!

This is such an adorable house and great place to stay. Host is quick to respond and eager to make your stay seamless. House is very clean and stocked with all the essentials plus many more things. We loved the coffee bar. Quiet surroundings allowing us to escape the college crowd but still be close to visit campus. Would love to stay here again.

Lawrence Country House

The beds were very comfortable, would have preferred a Barbeque grill instead of a smoker, managers responded very quickly with answers to our questions, high marks for the coffee/tea area off the kitchen, and a great place to be if you want to be in the country but close to town. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO houses and we give it an A++.

Every aspect of our stay was amazing! The location was perfect - the quiet of the country with Lawrence shopping 5 minutes away. The grounds were beautifully maintained & access to the property couldn't have been easier. Upon entry it was immediately clear that this home was very thoughtfully updated while staying in keeping with the incredible history of the property. While every room was charming, my favorite was the primary bathroom on the second floor. The tub was beautiful but as a shower person I loved the very attractive & comfortable shower. The smart mirror, excellent ventilation & floors were much appreciated! Other rooms in the house were appreciated too. The 4 bedrooms were perfect for our party of 7. Having one bedroom on the first floor was critical to accommodate our 92 year old guest! The kitchen and coffee bar were well planned and enjoyed by all and the large TV with WiFi in the living room was perfect for watching FIFA soccer together. Personally I loved all of the outdoor spaces especially the very large front porch. It was in keeping with the historical charm of the home and was large enough for all 7 of us to enjoy lunch together when it was raining on the 4th. Also a great lookout to search for cats which our family of cat lovers thoroughly enjoyed! Very fun times in a beautiful historic home! The service provided by Dani was fantastic which made our stay even more enjoyable! Thank you Dani!! This will certainly be our new "go to". A perfect "10".

Historical home very convenient to the town of Lawrence.

Wonderful accommodations. House is 140+ years old and charming. Beautiful large front porch to sit and drink your coffee in the mornings. Walking distance to Baker Wetlands. House is within a minute’s drive to Lawrence so it is very convenient but feels like you are in the country.

I am originally a Missouri girl, but moved here after meeting my husband 6 years ago. My favorite daily activity is spending time with my 2 year old, and helping my husband around his family’s farm. I have loved hosting this VRBO and hearing where our guests are from and what brought them to town.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

We actually have farmed the land north of the Wakarusa River for years, and had the opportunity to purchase the home a couple of years ago. We bought the home from Billy Meairs, whose grandparents homesteaded the land in 1854. We decided the home and property had way too much charm and history to not jump on board with a short term rental. We loved the access to town, yet the fact that we were still in a more tucked away peaceful area.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Our property is unique in all the history that it holds. It was a part of Quantrill’s path during his raid in 1863. The original house was lit on fire, but not destroyed, but then in 1878 the original Meairs family built the home guests stay in now. The home has had few major changes since its start, making it so fun to learn about!
