BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN VIEW VACATION RENTAL

Our luxury log home, only three miles from downtown Bryson City, North Carolina features over 2800 square feet of spacious living. The furnishings are upscale and the amenities are numerous. We have done our best to make this your home away from home.

Located on a quiet mountain ridge with beautiful mountain views, Sophie’s Choice is naturally landscaped with a groomed, flat side yard for playing or simply relaxing. Yard includes a firepit and horseshoes. Leather furniture, hardwood floors, granite/travertine countertops, and log-wall interior are just some of the ways that we have brought the outdoors in to truly make this your dream mountain get-away.

The large great room has a leather sofa, 2 leather chairs and large leather ottoman that face a gorgeous hand-crafted stone gas fireplace with flat screen TV over head and high definition satellite. It has three sets of French doors that open onto the expansive deck where you’ll find Adirondack chairs and a hot tub for gathering, watching the beautiful sunrise, enjoying the mountain view, or stargazing in the evening.

This spacious living/dining area features a slate pool table for your entertainment and a dining table that seats eight with additional bar counter seating for two.

Your kitchen is appointed with granite countertops and all new appliances including refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. We also provide you with all of the dishes, utensils and pots & pans that you’ll need. A gas grill is also provided and a spacious mud room houses a full sized washer & dryer for your convenience.

The great room has a cathedral ceiling and beautiful staircase that leads to the bedrooms and bath upstairs. The upstairs level has an open hallway that overlooks the great room. The two upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom that features a large old-world style vanity and Jacuzzi tub with shower.

To accommodate your sleeping needs, our 3 bedroom/2.5 bath log cabin has been designed to help you relax and get a restful night’s sleep in one of our comfortable pillow-top beds with all-cotton linens, feather down pillows and luxurious décor.

The large master suite is down a short hallway off of the great room. It has a king-size bed, large walk-in closet and private bath featuring a travertine vanity, Jacuzzi tub and separate tiled shower. French doors open to the deck, only steps away from the hot tub. A small sitting area has been created with two stylish, comfortable chairs and a TV entertainment center housing a CD/DVD player and high definition satellite.

Upstairs, bedroom 2 features wooden French doors opening to a spacious room with a beautifully ornate queen-size sleigh bed, matching nightstand and walk-in closet. Bedroom 3 has been designed as another private bedroom or for all of the “extra sleepers”. It features two queen-size beds and a futon couch that can fold out for additional sleeping.

This property is situated on a level lot with a large grassy side yard. You will have long range mountain views yet you are only minutes from downtown Bryson City and the grocery store. There is an outdoor firepit and horseshoes.

Beautiful cabin

Pros: The house was beautiful, well taken care of, with quality furnishings. The mattresses were fantastic. Nice deck to eat outside. Pool table located between kitchen and family room made for a popular place to hang out. Dishes and cooking pans were also quality.

Cons: These were minor. The gravel/rock driveway was hard on our vehicle with large potholes. Wish it were paved. Would have enjoyed garbage disposal.

Owner's Response: So glad to hear you guys had such a fantastic time at the cabin. We do feel what you are saying about the gravel roads. Unfortunately, they are shared roads and everyone would have to agree to pave them. That has not happened yet so we do our best to maintain them. The garbage disposal is not an option as we are on a septic system which does not allow for garbage disposals. Again, we are happy to hear your stay was wonderful and we thank you for choosing Sophie's Choice.

Wow, what an unexpected driveway or lack thereof! Bring your 4 wheel drive.

Not sure where the owners took the picture posted of the sunset with leaves on the trees. The actual view did not meet expectations. House is lovely and spacious and does meet the expectations the pictures present. The drive up from where the public road leaves off was quite scary to be frank. Would not rent this one again.

Owner's Response: The beautiful sunset picture was submitted to us by a customer which was taken from the deck. We do seasonally trim back the trees to help keep open the views. The final approach to the cabin is very typical of roads in this area. Vehicles of all types regularly visit this cabin with no problems. Mountainous gravel roads are the primary construction in this area and we ask our visitors to be prepared. We regularly maintain the roads on our property (not all access roads are on our property). Access by a 4 wheel drive is only recommended in inclement weather which is not common.

spotless and roomy

Our family of 8 enjoyed our stay. Pots and pans are pretty scratched up, but that is a minor complaint. Awesome hot tub and pool table. Fluffy towels and soft sheets. Exceeded our expectations. Gorgeous upscale cabin home in a peaceful setting!

Tip: Go to the well-stocked Ingles, not the IGA, for groceries.

Great family cabin

Pros - This cabin was very family friendly with a large open living area and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The kids enjoyed the pool table. We all enjoyed the deck and fire pit. There were seven of us and we were very comfortable in this house. Cons - We only had 5 towels for 7 people. We mentioned this to Sue when we went white water rafting who said it was an oversight. Also, the master bath was great but only had lace curtains on the windows. I prefer a little more privacy even though it is in an isolated area. Overall we liked the house and would stay there again.

Peace and activity in NC mountains

Well kept, clean cabin! Upon arrival, our college-age son immediately sat down on the deck chair to do homework declaring it the best study spot ever. Our stay included activities which were all easy day or half-day trips: Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, whitewater rafting (the owners' company is GREAT), Deep Creek Falls trails (take the foot/horse trail marked in red on the map! a lot of uphill, but worth it), shopping in Bryson City...et cetera. The 'chill' days (reading, hot tub, movie, pool, poker, and snacks at the cabin while feeling the mountain breeze waft away the stress of the real world) were delightful. The only downside: you eventually have to leave. Worth the cost and definitely the cleanest cabin/home we have rented. Steven and Sue are very accommodating and upbeat. You can't go wrong with a stay here. BTW, at the top of the gravel road marked with the arrow and 'Sophie's Choice' sign, you will have to choose left or right turn...turn left. You'll think it's the wrong way at first, but then the cabin comes into view on your right. Thanks, Steven and Sue! (and especially for accommodating our last minute request which you did not have to do...but did!)
