About Randall Crum

A native of East Tennessee I now live in Savannah, Georgia. For all of the beauty that Savannah has to offer it does not compare to the splendor of the Great Smoky Mountains. Bear Necessities is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. When we stay at Bear Necessities it is very hard to leave. Most of our guest say the same thing.

Randall Crum purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Randall Crum chose Sevierville

I fell in love with Bear Necessities as soon as I saw it. I told my real estate agent to do the deal immediately, without hesitation and I have had no regrets. This peaceful setting is one that is very hard to leave once you have spent some time there.

What makes this cabin unique

Peacefulness. It is so relaxing. I find it interesting that most of my guest to Bear Necessities rarely ever leave the cabin. It is close enough to the area attractions but once your there it really is hard to leave.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time staying in a cabin in the Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg area although I’ve been there several times. I truly enjoyed the cabin as it had everything I wanted. It was private even tho there was a few other cabins close but was very close to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The only thing was the hot tub wasn’t working when I checked in but contacted the maintenance and he said he would try to make it out but said it might be next morning before making it. They showed up just before noon and had it fixed in about a hour so could enjoy the hot tub the rest of the stay. After seeing what all pots, pans, dishes and other things he had to offer in the cabin I made a trip to get a few grocery items for my stay. I was in shock with how well stocked it was. Thank you and I will stay here again in the future!!

Communications and directions were complete and well written. The property was clean upon arrival and had amenities discussed. Hot tub was clean and worked great throughout our stay. Really enjoyed the pool table, air hockey and table tennis for entertainment during our week. Very clean and nice. Look forward to a future stay on our return the the Smokies!!!!!!

Overall, nice accommodations. Great location. Quiet and peaceful.

I’m hesitant to be critical, because we did really enjoy our stay and had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be a thorough cleaning on the porches, and maybe a little updating and sealing of the wood on the back deck. I think it is just somewhat aged, but comes across as a little dirty. There were a lot of cobwebs, and the gutters are growing weeds. I completely understand that this is in the woods and that is likely hard to keep up with. Again, these were very minor things and I only mention them, hopefully, as productive criticism.

That said, the hot tub worked well. Everything inside is clean and nicely kept. The upstairs loft was very nice. Washer/dryer looked nearly new. The kitchen is well stocked and the dishwasher was a nice convenience. The bed was very comfortable in our opinion, and I am prone to back trouble when staying away from home, so that was a nice bonus. The location is wonderful. It’s quiet and peaceful and situated conveniently right between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The travel information that the owner provided was very helpful and much appreciated. We very much enjoyed our first trip here, and I’m sure it won’t be our last.
