Perfect Place!

  • 5 of 5

It was a short stay for us. The house looks even better in person! Amazing beach views, great sunsets! Great location close to everything. William was terrific at getting us booked in quickly and very responsive to our emails. Ken Bradshaw the local property manager was terrific as well in making sure we had everything we needed. Ken's a legendary Big Wave surfer as well, check out his video's, very cool! We will be back! Thanks William

One Of Our Best Vacations Ever

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for us (a group of three couples) for the week. It had everything we needed and so we hardly went out. The ocean view from the living area is stunning. There are mellow surf spots out the front (Kammies and Monster Mash) and of course other famous spots a short walk away. You are looking sideways, directly into the right at Sunset from the front lawn which is pretty cool. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

We will be going back

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I researched for about a week and a half before choosing this property for our family vacation. We chose it mainly because of the 5 star reviews, and our experience has generated yet another one. William was very responsive and the directions he provided were perfect. There is a private driveway and is off the main highway so it felt very safe. The views alone are enough to stay here, but add to that the second cottage, the patio, the grass area (we had a 1 year old with us and it was perfect for him), the location to shops, food, and grocery store make this place the absolute best. The beach is basically your backyard, not even a 20 second walk away from the back porch and the sunsets are absolutely incredible. We will be back, without a doubt. The only negative part was the humidity, and of course there is no AC in the house (makes sense because usually the weather is usually perfect) so we were hot most of the time but it didn't detract from the experience at all, and it certainly had nothing to do with the property itself. If you're debating where to stay on the North Shore and this place is available, book it.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of eight had the opportunity to stay here for 10 days in June and we all loved this place. This was our first experience using VRBO and both William and the Sunset Beach house exceeded our expectations. The house has the most amazing sunsets and we ate every meal out on the porch. The house was perfect for our family, my husband and I stayed in the front house with my daughter, her husband, and their 1 year old son. We put our son in the back house with our two teenage grandsons. It worked our perfectly since the boys always tended to stay up later and sleep in. As a family we come to Oahu every two years to visit our family, this is the first time we stayed on the North Shore and it is definitely our favorite side of the island. It was nice to be away from the hustle of Waikiki and just listen to the sounds of the ocean. If you're looking for a place to relax, this Sunset Beach house is perfect.

If you have young children, the beach directly in front of the house was a little too rough for our 1 year old grandson to swim in, so we did have to walk him about 50 yards down the beach to swim. We also purchased a small swimming pool for him and brought the ocean water up to him in the yard, he loved that.

Mahalo William for sharing this beautiful house, we cannot wait to return.

Another Fantastic Stay at Sunset Beach

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to get 2 entire weeks at this Sunset Beach Cottage. We stayed here 3 years ago and could not wait to get back. The location on Sunset beach provides a great home base for exploring the entire island. There are numerous restaurants and food trucks nearby along with the Foodland Grocery store. The house is perfectly comfortable and has everything a family needs to have a perfect vacation. Falling asleep to the sounds of the waves is amazing. The view from the deck cannot be surpassed. Thanks again William for sharing your slice of paradise in Hawaii. Hopefully returning for a third time soon!!

Cute Beach House

  • 2 of 5

This is not my first time using VRBO, and it will not be my last. However I will not rent this property again nor would I recommend this property to my friends or relatives. It started off unpleasant when meeting the property manager he was not very helpful friendly or informative. For a beach house there are no beach chairs. My sister stayed at another VRBO, her property manager was very helpful friendly and informative she allowed an early check in, and even helped unload supplies. Their rental not only had beach chairs it also had snorkel gear and surf toys. This rental has subpar cutlery, I have better cutlery for my camping gear. There wasn’t one knife sharp enough to even cut a lime! One kitchen cabinet smelt awful and we had to clean it day one finding a dead gecko inside the cabinet. There were no kitchen towels, no bin in the garbage container, and no recycle bin. Hey this is Hawaii! People go to Hawaii for vacation! One night we were having a party, and we were I’m sure loud. Suddenly there was an extremely obnoxious heavy banging on the door. It was the property manager yelling “There is a curfew, and you woke up my kid!” A kinder way would have been to ask us to keep the noise down. He ruined a great time and ended the party. No air conditioning thats fine, its a beach house, but the fans were set on and locked on a very low speed and hardly moved the air. Beautiful beach, although difficult entry to get into the ocean. Would not at all recommend for older folks. Large berm of sand before you can enter the water.

Owner's Response: I was very disappointed to have received this bad review as it’s the first one in 8 years and it’s purely a vindictive act of recourse after the guests took offence to the Property Manager having to ask these guests to “stop partying” in the late hours! This is not a “Party House” and I alert all guests several times prior to their arrival that all noise must be kept to a minimum between the hours of 9pm and 8am, it’s even listed on the Terms & Conditions of the Rental Agreement as well as being posted on the side of the refrigerator. Now, I’ll address all of their petty complaints: 1. No stairs to access the beach – there are stairs but they’re currently buried under a sand dune which would mean that the sand dune has less of an incline then the stairs! My young children and my elderly parents have no issues with or without the stairs and neither have past guests 2. The smell in the kitchen caused by the dead Gecko – the kitchen is cleaned thoroughly between stays and I do regular Pest Control but unfortunately if a Gecko happens to make its way into the home when the door is left open then there’s not much I can do! 3. The subpar cutlery being compared to that of a camping set with no sharp knifes – there’s a whole block set of expensive knives on the kitchen benchtop consisting of a paring knife, a bread knife, a carving knife, a cook’s knife, a utility knife etc…. there’s also steak knives as part of the cutlery set 4. No AC and the fans being too weak – correct, there’s no AC in the home but I don’t say there is anywhere! All the ceiling fans are new (installed Feb 2016) and the oscillating speeds can be adjusted to 3 different speeds. Being beachfront, the natural sea breeze also helps to cool things down provided you leave the windows open. 5. No recycling – this is correct, on this street the City & County of Honolulu DO NOT offer any recycling collections so it’s the same for every home located on this street 6. No kitchen towels or no bin in the garbage container – there’s a whole drawer full of kitchen towels and a plastic garbage bag is placed in the garbage container. A lot of TLC goes into this home and all of my guests have appreciated this and have had a wonderful vacation.
