Why Deb Cochrane chose South Maui

We holidayed in Maui for 30 years, the first 15 in Kaanapali and the last 18 in South Kihei at Kamaole Sands. Over the years we stayed in almost every building at Kam Sands assessing the features and benefits of each. For many years we traveled with our children, now it is just the two of us with the exception of wonderful visits from our kids. We chose our suite because of the large lanai, the ocean view and the privacy. We now winter for five months in our renovated Maui home and know we made the right choice, we love, love. love it.

What an amazing condo! Our first time on Maui, and we hit the jackpot of residences.

Because Deb and her husband live there several months a year, we had everything we needed. They checked in with us to make sure we were happy with everything, and we were!!! The condo is beautifully updated and has a wonderful view of the ocean. We loved eating breakfast on the lanai every morning and grilling in the park-like setting by the pool in the evenings. We were definitely living in the lap of luxury!!

The property personnel were also friendly and accommodating. From the free continental breakfast and orientation to the island presentation, to the front desk and grounds keepers, everyone worked to make sure we had a wonderful stay. And we did!!

This place was perfect in many ways. Great location, close to all of the world class south Maui beaches. Not far from West Maui, the airport, Pa'ia, and the road to Hana. The owner/manager was super helpful and responsive. We accidentally left some things there, the owner had them look high and low for them, and even had them shipped back to us! We were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. Thank you, Deb, for an amazing time!

Wonderful Stay!

This was our first trip to the islands and decided on a condo over a resort hotel. We were very happy with our choice of this condo. It was clean, nicely decorated and came with almost everything you'd need. The lanai was spacious and in the evenings if you open the front door and back patio door you get a nice breeze which helped cool the place down. Plus the a/c unit in the bedroom was great as well when needed. The grounds were beautiful and nicely maintained and the beach was conveniently located right across the street.

We stayed in this one bedroom condo, which is very clean and safe. Quiet as this unit is on opposite side of building from pool area. Very well stocked with beach gear (beach chairs, umbrella, towels, cooler), linens, washer and dryer. The kitchens has all the dishes, cooking utensils, spices, etc. that we needed.This is not ground level - it is on the third level which we loved!

The complex has multiple BBQs, and plenty of parking spots.The location is perfect for getting to the beach across the street, going to restaurants and stores, and also driving to any other area on the island. The pool is great for anyone who doesn’t want to go to the ocean.

Deb & Larry are quick to respond to our inquires. Thanks for a great stay :)

Everything we needed and more.

A/C bedroom and living room.

Beach chairs, umbrella, towels.

Large, private, lanai to while away the hours (when not exploring or at the beach.)

Large gourmet kitchen, with EVERYTHING and room for two cooks.

Very nice

Over the years we have stayed at many of the nearby condos to this one in Maui. Generally we have liked them all. The location is very convenient. We typically stay in the area 2-4 weeks in the year. Here are some positives and negatives:


- Deb the owner is very nice and very responsive even though she is miles away. She was truly a pleasure to deal with. She helped make every step as simple as possible and had really thought of everything (thank you Deb)

-there are instructions/ rules for many things so if you read it you can find all sorts of things in the condo.

-there was more supplies in the house than I thought. Other than buying some paper towels and few other items we didn't have to buy much else.

- it was very kind of the owner to let us us all the different supplies

- new washer and dryer


- wifi had very weak to no signal in the bedroom. That is due to the fact that the modem is a single band modem located on the other side of the house with the walls all being made of concrete .

-this was both a positive and negative. There was many instructions/ rules. Most of them were common sense items.

-AC: there is only one in the condo and it is all the way on the other side of the condo and has little to no effect on the bedroom temperature. I did notice multiple other people's review mentioning this as an issue and had dismissed it. But it is is true. There are many fans in the house but if you want to cool down in a hot day after being active that doesn't help. The other thing that I had not seen in any other condos was that the ac was forced by the owner to run on timer. I realize that the cost of electricity is high and some people may just turn ac on the entire time they are there. And the timer would control the electricity cost. As a example I wanted the ac to run overnight while we are sleeping to cool down. But the timer wouldn't allow you to run it over the 8 hr that you were sleeping. If you come from west coast or other warm climates this will not probably be an issue for you. But if you come from east coast of US or Canada in the winter time you are going to find it to be warm.

We will certainly try to book this location in our future travels to the island.

Owner's Response: Thank-you Ali for your feedback, we always pay attention to what our guests say. Regarding a/c, that is # 1 on our to-do list this year. Only in the past two years has the heat been an issue, not too sure why. There was an ad hoc committee of owners struck to look into the most effective and efficient type of a/c for the bedrooms. We will be installing one that we feel comfortable with for ease of use and efficiency. Electricity is very, very expensive on the islands, some countries where we have travelled have lights and a/c that only work when the key is inserted. With our new bedroom a/c I believe the summer heat can be managed. Our condo also has an amazing breeze that blows through to cool the rooms. I will look into a stronger modem, thank-you; we have followed all the hints offered by our resident IT expert, but I agree, it could be much faster; you are right, the concrete building has many assets, unfortunately it is not a friend of the internet. We'd love your family to come again.

bocce ball played on the large grassy area at Kamaole 3 beach which is directly across the street. Whales guaranteed to perform off Kam 3 during the winter months. From Kam 3 one can walk south or west for several kilometers along the beach.
