Great house in terms of the number of rooms and places to sleep, as well as the location being close to the lake. However, the beach in the housing community is smaller than expected so you can’t really hang out there since it’s between two houses. Also, the owners should improve on their processes. I had booked the house about 6 months prior to our stay and a few days before our trip I realized I never received instruction on the check in process and how we would get the keys. I emailed the owner asking what the process was and he said he mailed me the keys a couple weeks before to my billing address from when I booked (seriously, who mails the keys?!). Unfortunately I had moved since I booked the house so the keys were sent to my old address and I was given no prior notice so I didn’t have the opportunity to give my current address. The owner then overnighted me a new set of keys which I got in time, so I thought everything worked out.
That was until I received the statement regarding my security deposit refund and he had charged me $30 to cover the FedEx charge for the second set of keys. I asked the owner why I was charged and he said that he didn’t feel he should be responsible for that cost just because I had moved. I explained to him that I didn’t think that was fair because I was given no prior notice on how I would obtain the keys and if I had known they were being mailed than I could have given him my correct address, as well as the hypothetical of what if my billing address was different than my mailing. Not to mention that if I hadn’t been proactive and inquired beforehand than I never would have been able to get into the house which would have created a lot more issues. After some back and forth he still refused to refund me what he deducted even though it was not my fault that he mailed them to my old address without my knowledge, any prior notification, of any follow up to make sure they were received.
All in all, it’s a good house but BEWARE of the ownership being unorganized and nickel and diming you.
