Amazing property
We loved the Bunn House! It was as if we rented out a boutique hotel. Each suite was well appointed with luxury linens and bath items. The grounds are beautiful. Everything in Downtown Asheville was within a 20 minute walk. We will be back!

Great place
Fantastic house. Location great. Responsiveness to requests great. Would stay there again for sure and plan to. Only FYI to other prospect renters is one of the bedrooms is only accessable from the outside. It's actually a separate suite with kitchenet. Worked perfect for us but others could be surprised by the access limitation.

An oasis in the city.
This was the perfect location for our family to gather. Walking to nearby restaurants and grocery stores was easy and there were outstanding cycling opportunities right from the front door. While we each had our own lovely rooms we spent most of our time outdoors together enjoying the terrace, rooftop, and fireplace areas. The kitchen is well-equipped and worked well for our caterer. Ridgely and Ali made sure we had everything we needed. Truly a luxury property, beautiful inside and out.

The most amazing hosts to rent from not to mention an incredible home in the most ideal location!
It was Simply amazing, my family had an incredible time. The home is absolutely beautiful with the highest quality furnishings, accessories, toiletries, etc. I never expected a home from VRBO to have Frette towels and she sheets! . This home is more of an estate property within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants of asheville. No need to have a car at the Bunn estate. Bravo again to the most amazing owners and to their caretaker. Ken S.

Outdoor splendor
We spent three truly wonderful days on property. We went into town every day and had planned to stay longer in town but the house and grounds were just so pleasant we found ourselves heading back early to enjoy the patios and gardens of the Bunn House. This is such an enjoyable get away. We’ll be back again and again. If you enjoy outdoor living, book this home. You will not be disappointed.

Family Fourth of July
Great location for a family fourth! The grounds are fabulous and beg to you to go outside and enjoy Asheville summer days and nights. We were just minutes away from downtown and the view from the roof for the fireworks display was amazing.

Great spot for family vacation
A perfect place for a family getaway! The outdoor space was great for our three year old. Lots of little thoughtful touches that made our stay so wonderful - fresh local coffee and an assortment of balls to keep our kids entertained, to name a few. The outdoor fireplace was great for dinner and s’mores. The entire house has very obviously been set up with guests’ comfort in mind. Would love to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice stay in Asheville!

Wonderful Trip
The property was amazing and beautiful. Ali and Ridgley were so helpful and always there for any questions or concerns. Each room was wonderful and the grounds of the house were out of a magazine. Location was great, very walkable. The only thing I would add/change is having more of a sitting area by the TV to relax in on those rainy days. If your party is 5 or less the living room is perfect, its just when there are more than 5. If the weather is good, you want to be spending it on the vast property ! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Perfection
Absolutely immaculate inside and out. It is evident that thought and planning went into every detail of this house. The online description of these details is extensive and accurate. My family has been vacationing in homes as opposed to hotels for years. This is our first property of this age, and what a unique and wonderful experience it was. A few things I took note of : the living room-only inside gathering space, (furniture very comfortable even had throw blankets!)did not have seating for 10 people or even 8 the number we had, although It was a comfortable and cozy spot. The kitchen table has 10 chairs and we enjoyed playing board games there although the beautifully rustic kitchen table did cause a few splinters. One of the four bedrooms that has the fold out couch and full kitchen (once again wonderfully equipped)although attached to the house was only accessible from outside the house, I did not read this in the description of the property, but may have missed it. I definitely was not a fan of walking outside at night to go to my bedroom. The very large TVs with excellent choices for tv watching, in every room were a big hit. Having a dedicated bar area fully and attractively equipped with appliances, ice maker, drink refrigerator, and a variety of glassware, certainly was a plus with our adult family. The rooftop sitting area equipped with cushions and throw blankets (once again so detailed and thoughtful)I believe has one of the best unobstructed views of Asheville, we all loved it. Plush green grass that could accommodate a football game and its fans, provided us ample space for our yard games! It was such a treat to have a supply of firewood, fire starters and paper provided to use in the enormous outdoor fireplace. We enjoyed having dinner and family from around Asheville join us in front of the fireplace under the lights around the largest outdoor table I’ve ever sat at. Did I mention the beautiful weeping willow and grape vines? This needs to be mentioned I believe because myself and four other members of our group separately experienced or questioned me about someone not in our group randomly being on property, a car-not ours, coming into the property (through the code access only gate) and parking, window washer showing up on a Sunday morning, and the same person seen walking back and forth by the property-In speaking with VRBO property manager -privacy will be held at a higher standard moving forward

Fantastic Five Star Home
I wish I took a video of my family's faces when we pulled up and walked through the front door of this magnificent home. It was so beautiful inside and out that we all couldn't believe we were able to stay there. We had 7 adults and 2 children. The four year old had room to run in the amazing yard with paths to make it very interesting to him and with it being gated it gave us a sense of security that he wouldn't run into the street. Everyone had their own space, their own bathroom with steam showers. We would congregate in the kitchen that had its own water fountain. The kitchen was so functional and decorated so beautifully. Every detail of this house has been upgraded and clean yet you knew you were in a historic home which we loved. If I were to go to Asheville again there would be no other place I would like to stay. The owners were friendly and we didn't need to contact them because nothing went wrong. I really can't say enough besides the house made our trip the best family gathering possible. Its worth every penny to book and more and thank you to this family for letting us stay there.

The Bunn House is a unique lodging experience that offers the luxury of a boutique hotel and the independence of a vacation rental, within walking distance of downtown Asheville. Our invisible service offers you complete control of your arrival, stay and departure. Prior to your arrival your room has been meticulously cleaned, awaiting your arrival. Enter our private, secure, gated entrance and check yourself in with the code that you received via email and text. Our property is set up so you relax independent of other guests making a safe retreat and refuge for your enjoyment.

We seek to support the individual pursuits of guests without imposing schedules or agendas. The hotel sits on over an acre of land, providing the ideal setting for a picnic or romantic outdoor dining. Our location allows for a close connection to vibrant downtown Asheville, while offering a quiet, serene retreat. The entire building and property is 100% non-smoking and non-vaping.

Why they chose this property

The Bunn House was built in 1905 by Albert Bunn, a brick manufacturer and contractor from Birmingham, England, who lived here with his wife, Kittie, and three children. His youngest son, Robert D. Bunn, owner of Bunn Antiques in downtown Asheville, inherited the home from his father, and lived here for many years with his wife, Fannie. When we purchased the house in 2013, much of the original structure was retained, including hardwood floors and some of the small architectural details, in order to feature the home’s rich history. We have contrasted these historic aspects with a focus on refined luxury.

What makes this property unique

From the start of our two year renovation of this beautiful 100 year old building, we wanted to be as thoughtful as possible. Our efforts were rewarded formally when we won an award for Adaptive Reuse from the Asheville Preservation Society. We’ve taken many steps to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce use of single use plastics.
