This is a beautiful and tranquil destination. The kids loved fishing off of the dock (plenty of fish too!), swimming off the dock or at the nearby beach. Can’t wait to go back.
Quirky large house with a great view. Well appointed for cooking needs. Very nice responsive owners. Water and diving dock is great for swimming. Accommodated our large multigenerational group well for a week. Kayaks, canoe, paddle boat, fire pit, telescope all got good use. Say hi to the large pike if you catch it.
The pictures do this property no justice!! It is a gorgeous place. The views are beautiful. It was the perfect setting for our family reunion. Super picky about cleanliness and it was very clean!!
We had a great week with our kids and grandkids! Plenty of sleeping areas, and large living space for all 12 of us.
We would have liked to have a bigger (flatter) lawn area for outdoor games, but the lake certainly made up for it. Host was attentive and responsive. We would stay here again.
This place is not only gorgeous but owned by two of the sweetest people, they met with us, gave us a tour and made sure everything was up to par. They have a pedal boat and two kayaks which we enjoyed on the cleanest lake I’ve ever been in. The stars at night were uncountable. They checked in every day to make sure we had what we needed and even had a brand new grill that fed us the whole Memorial Day weekend. It’s quiet and the view is amazing, especially the sunset that lights the sky up and slowly fades to the right side of the lake. I plan i coming back here next year.
Stayed a week with 6 adults and four children. Plenty of room, and a well stocked kitchen, and new washer/dryer.
No beach at the house, but jumping off the dock and swimming to the raft was great. All boats were in good operating condition. 20 minutes to Alton Bay for resupplying. Plenty of places for running and hiking,
The hosts deserve 11 on a scale of 10. They are generous, considerate, and responsive. They have installed a stable, safe stairway to the lower level based on comments by prevoius reviewers about a difficult spiral staircase that used to be there. The home is well-stocked and comfortable. (Bring your own favorite board games.) We loved the boats and had a great
time with 3 generations—from college age to seniors. The latter were able to manage stairs to the dock and used the ladder to the pond, rather than jumping in as the younger ones did. Highly recommended!
We rented the Alton Bay home for a week in July. Cherie met us at the home upon check in. She took the time to explain different aspects of the property.
The house was perfect for our family of 13, including grandparents, parents and 6 grandchildren, as well as our 2 dogs. It had a well stocked kitchen, plenty of towels / beach towels and more beds with bedding than we needed.
We enjoyed the dock, floating dock, canoe, kayaks and paddle boat. The lake was calm with small islands to canoe around. An association beach with a sandy beach area was only a 3 minute walk or a short swim from the dock. Hiking trails were within walking distance.
The home has 3 levels with gorgeous views of the lake from the expansive deck, bedrooms and downstairs porch area.
A big thank you to Cherie, who was easily accessible and a wonderful host.
Our 11 year old granddaughter summed it up when she said “I loved the lake house! The lake was so much fun. I’d give it a 10 out of 10”. We are already looking forward to family fun at the lake next summer.
We were a party of ten ranging from 10 years old to 73 years. The view was awesome and there was plenty of room for everyone. The only drawback was the fact that there was no bathroom upstairs where four of the bedrooms were, which could be difficult for those with mobility issues. All in all we had a marvelous time. Cherie was wonderful to deal with, and we will definitely return!
Great spot if your looking for a big house right on the water. Plenty of bedrooms and space the spread out. 2nd time staying here and the host was very easy to work with
The property is as advertised! We had 6 adults and 4 kids, ages 11 months up to 65 years, and had a very comfortable week. Everyone had a nice place to sleep, we cooked every night and found it easy to feed that many people with the dishes and cutlery provided. Table space for games and puzzles, we used the floaties and life jackets for the lake, very little tv watched but nice to have the option with the tvs and rokus provided! With the docks we found no need to go to the little beach down the street but it was a 2 minute walk if needed. Wolfboro wasn’t a long drive for a little lunch or some shopping. The deck furniture was comfortable and abundant, so nice to have that excellent grill as well. We used the fire pit and hammock, all
of the amenities. Didn’t know there were beach towels as well but there were regular towels, hand towels, and wash cloths, plenty for a big group. Very responsive hosts as well. Would stay again.
The pond is peaceful and perfect for swimming and kayaking.
The deck is huge and the views are beautiful.
The bedrooms are a nice size and there is plenty of room to gather.
As others have mentioned, not having a bathroom on the second floor can be inconvenient and the spiral stairs to the basement are shockingly steep.
A nice house for a large group.
This was the first time in many years that we as a family were able to vacation together. Our soon to be married grandson and his fiance and newly engaged granddaughter and her fiance were able to join us for a few days as well. We lived on the wonderful deck most of the time and totally enjoyed the view of Hills Pond. The water temperature was perfect for swimming and we enjoyed the use of all the water toys. The men went fishing every day and caught and released all that they caaught.
The scarey stairway to the lower level was a negative and the lack of air circulation down there made for a very musty smell. There was no screen door on the slider so it couldn't be left
open for circulation. The tiny shower in the lower bathroom was too small for the 6' and over men in my family, but we all managed. Thank you for sharing your house with us.
