Becky - I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Wish you had let us know about the droopy bed and we could have addressed. Since we learned of this issue we have addressed. Hope to see you again soon.

After we accommodated Mariusz's change in schedule and allowed him to change his dates, and then check in early, we found out he lied about the actual number of guests he was brining and failed to report that his dog was traveling with him to avoid the pet fee. He refused to pay the pet fee and threatened to leave a poor review if we did not provide him with a discount, claiming the property was not fully cleaned. We offered several times to send back the cleaning crew but he was clearly more interested in trying to get a free stay. We have a pest service visit the home regularly and there are NO cockroaches. Small lizards and palmetto bugs (which some mistake for cockroaches) do fly in the outside screened lanai when the doors are left open. After all we are on a canal in Florida. Every so often we run into a guest like Mariusz who is impossible to please and more interested in breaking the rules to get over on us. It's very unfortunate but as you can see we have had many many very good reviews.

Unfortunately, we sometimes run into guests like Gayle. Upon checking in she reached out with a complaint about the cleaning folks. We immediately offered to send them back and she said it was ok and told us how much she was enjoying her stay. She then asked us to stay a few extra days but we could not accommodate her request because of incoming guests. She became angry and indicated she would leave a poor review. Thankfully, it's rare that we have a guest like Gayle and we have lots of other reviews that are five star positive!

Every so often we have a guest who’s impossible please. I personally stayed at the house for a week right after Jan and Steve checked out and had the benefit of seeing how they left our home. If someone who is considering renting to Jan or Steve reads this review please steer clear of them. On their check out there was food everywhere including the beds. The house was in disarray. Our cleaners spent two days cleaning up after them. Also I can personally say that their complaints about bugs are patently false. We have an exterminator who comes routinely. There are bugs outside that sometimes fly into the screened in pool areas if the doors are left open. This is Florida. And when you’re in Florida if you leave open food containers outside or crumbs and spoiled food everywhere you will attract ants. About their complaints: Yes the house has steps but that’s part of its character. It’s a very large house with lots of bedrooms and the furniture is new. There are no needs for any updates. And yes we have Hurricane doors that are heavy to slide closed. The mattresses are one year old and very comfortable. And yes oh my the bulb for the oven did burn out and we replaced it. But all of the lights by the pool 100% work and the switches are labeled. We also have at least ten to fifteen pots and pans and about twenty plates and silverware settings. And yes Jan and Steve dirtied everyone of them. One need only read my several other reviews to confirm that Jan and Steve are storytellers who maybe were upset because it rained most of their stay. Interestingly I never heard from them during their stay. If I had I would have immediately addressed these issues.

When Bill first reported this to us at 11pm on his second day he was very surprised to learn that our cleaners deep cleaned the entire property before Bill arrived and that we had documentation and photographs of their work. There also had not been guests in our place in over week so Bill’s claim of fresh pee was very suspicious. Even though we were 100% certain that Bill’s child wet our bed we dispatched the cleaners to address the issue so Bill could still enjoy the rest of his stay. When we asked Bill to reimburse us for the costs of the linens and cleaning he responded with threats to leave a bad review and he certainly followed through. It’s guests like Bill that really challenge our drive to continue with short term rentals.
