Unwind and recharge at Sand Drift Cottage. This 1940’s classic Lake Michigan beachfront cottage has the most breathtaking views. It is nestled on a private tree-lined road surrounded by nature, yet centrally located between Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven. It’s a perfect beach escape for a couple's vacation, weekend with girlfriends or quality time with family. This Southwest Michigan area has all the charm with some of the best wineries/breweries, beaches, art galleries, adorable boutiques and amazing dining.

Wake up to the sound of the waves and relax on the deck overlooking the water. Take a walk down to the private beach where you can go for a swim or stroll the shoreline. Beach bums will be set with beach chairs, outdoor games and other beach necessities.

At night, be sure to gather around the fire pit and take time to watch an unforgettable sunset or do some stargazing.

We had a wonderful long weekend on the shores of Lake Michigan. The cottage is spacious and well appointed. Private beach access and just a short drive to Saugatuck and surrounding towns was a perfect combination.

This was our third stay at The Sand Drift. It’s our home away from home. My wife and I love the back porch to sit and watch the sunsets. The kids love walking the beach, paddle boarding and building ramps in the sand for their monster trucks. Having dinner and ice cream in Saugatuck is always a nice get away. The house is well maintained and clean. Colleen and Andy have filled it with everything you could need for a week stay. We’ll hopefully be back soon to build more memories!

Sand Drift is a charming cottage that seems to have been lovingly and expertly remodeled and updated. It is very clean and thoughtfully appointed with all the basics needed for a comfortable stay. Colleen sent a very detailed message with instructions, tips, and suggestions. Check in was very easy. The enjoyment of Lake Michigan was our top priority, and this cottage did not disappoint in allowing us to do just that. We made use of the beach chairs and the paddle boards. When we weren't enjoying the lake and the beach, we were admiring the view from the amazing sun porch. There are beach towns close by with plenty of entertainment and dining options, but we kept to the cottage, enjoying all it had to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and squeezed every drop out of every single day. I think the most repeated question of the trip was "just look at our view!" Amazing.

What a location! We loved being so close to Saugatuck Douglas and South Haven for day trips but only left the property a couple times. With a private beach and plenty of space, we found ourselves staying at the house more than we expected. Beach was fantastic and super private. In the entire week we only saw one other soul further down the beach looking for sea glass or shells. Sunsets from the porch are hard to beat and probably our favorite seats. We liked having wine in the AC watching the sun go down after a long day in the sun at the beach. Kitchen setup was perfect for our family of four. We had plenty of room to also have a few more friends join us a couple nights too. We will definitely be back next summer. We would like to see this place in the winter and try the fireplace and XC ski in the area.

This place is fantastic. We had such a great time as a family of four (two little ones). The place is even better in person than depicted in the photos. The views from outside are incredible and the inside actually felt bigger than we expected. We drove up to saugutuck twice (only about 17 mins) and had plenty of things to do on property for the rest of our trip. Paddle boards, grill in the front, steps down to the private beach, amazing sunset views from the deck at the top of the steps, etc. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful time at the Sand Drift Cottage. We were absolutely wowed by the view of Lake Michigan! We enjoyed watching the sunset every night from the Adirondack chairs, and combing the beach hunting for sea glass. The property is beautiful and clearly well loved by the owners. It felt less like “a vacation rental property” and more like we were staying at our friends’ cottage. The perfect mix of rustic and homey, this well-appointed home had everything we needed for a lovely week on the coast. We had one issue arise and Colleen was sure to take care of it right away. The cottage is on a charming and quiet drive with other neighbors who also take pride in their homes. A neighbor was doing some exterior work during our stay, but it wasn’t a bother and always wrapped up before sunset. The cottage feels private and remote, while having neighbors nearby and being only 15 minutes from town. Our family is already planning for our next trip back. Colleen and Andy, thank you so much for a wonderful week!

This is our second time here at The Sand Drift Cottage and it’s basically our second home. Our kids love the beach and the home in general. My wife and I love the beach as well and enjoying watching the sunset from the back porch area. We always feel right at home!

Beautiful home with stairs to the beach right outside the back door. We enjoyed the amazing sunsets over the lake and easy access to Saugatuck for food and shopping. Living space is even larger than it appears in the photos. Hosts provide everything you need!

Long weekend getaway

This was our first solo trip since having kids and the tranquil location could not have been more perfect. We spent the mornings in the sun room listening to the water, hopped around to Holland and Saugutauk as it’s only 15 minutes away in either direction. This was the perfect little home away from home for our long weekend. We’ve come to love western Michigan, and we loved this little home away from home

We had an incredible late-summer getaway at this property! The Cottage was super clean, well-equipped ( seriously had everything from a game library, bug spray, and a great kitchen), and wonderfully decorated.The view and beach access made the stay even more enjoyable. Each day we took walks on the beach and enjoyed the colorful sunsets. Thanks to the hosts for great communication and answering additional questions before our stay. Would definitely love to return!

Andy and Colleen are from a Northwest suburb of Chicago. They have been married for 20 years and have two daughters. They spent a lot of their childhood enjoying lake time and wanted to give those same experiences to their children too. They fell in love with the charm of this cozy cottage and its location to a few of their favorite Michigan towns. It has been a perfect escape for their family and they wanted to be able to share it with others too.

This is a quiet gravel road surrounded by woods. It has seen many generations of families. You won’t see cars flying by and can safely take a walk or bike ride along the road.

This is one of the very few short term rentals in the area that has its own private beach on Lake Michigan. It is in a perfect location to allow for a quiet retreat, yet centered between Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven.
