About the property

At 'Orion's Hideaway' you'll enjoy a peaceful, private, and perfect getaway! Offered as a weekly rental for the first time in two years and attractively priced! We've recently lovingly restored our classic Provincetown home and created a beautiful two bedroom apartment with great amenities for you. Everything is walking distance, yet tucked away in a very quiet neighborhood. Pine floors and oak cabinets are lovely and airy, sun streams through the windows. The deck is private and spacious and very nice for outdoor dining and drinks, or sit back and catch up on your reading. Private entrance means coming and going and never having to say a word to anyone. The garden is colorful and beautiful; a flowering archway entrance leads to your staircase. Parking is at a premium in Provincetown and we offer an off road space for one car. Plush, luxurious brand new queen beds for a heavenly sleep after a fun day at the beach or cafe sitting. AND an OUTDOOR SHOWER! A rare luxury, showering under the puffy clouds or the stars. Digitized washer/dryer, air-conditioned, and WIFI! On a clear night it's fun to lie on the deck and watch the stars. In winter Orion shines above our house! Life is good here at ocean's edge and we are happy to share it! We look forward to your visit!

Please feel free to ask about rate in June and September and anytime in the off season. Provincetown is a great place to visit anytime of the year!!

About Simie Maryles

Simie Maryles and Moe Van Dereck. We're artists and owner/directors of Simie Maryles Gallery at 435 Commercial Street.

Simie Maryles came to Provincetown from New York City to work as a street sketch artist. She had been a studio painter but soon discovered the joys of plein air painting and turned strictly to fine art, showing her work in Los Angeles, Boston and always in Provincetown. Before coming to Provincetown, she travelled across Europe from the Middle East and landed in Paris where a family of wine merchants 'adopted' her and she stayed to study painting and printmaking at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts. She travels often back to Paris and speaks fluent French. Moe Van Dereck is a blues musician, sculptor, sail boat racer, among many things. He was also raised in Manhattan but summered in Provincetown all his life. The pair are well travelled and cultured. They're happy to be helpful and will endeavor to assist in making your stay completely wonderful...They're also extremely busy day and night in their gallery and rarely the advantage is that you're as private as you could possibly wish...

Simie Maryles purchased this condo in 1977

Why Simie Maryles chose Cape Cod

Moe and Simie bought this classic Provincetown house and lovingly restored and rebuilt it. They like the fact that it's centrally located but far enough back from the town center to be very quiet. They have a large flower garden that creates a lovely view from the deck. The roses and honeysuckle emit an intoxicating perfume on warm summer evenings. On a clear night the sky is illuminated. They often watch the stars from the deck In winter when the property is vacant. Orion shines above their house.

What makes this condo unique

Everything is walking distance, a big plus. But it's very quiet, another huge plus. The deck is your own. Very nice for outdoor dining and drinks. Private entrance means coming and going as you wish, as you like. The garden is filled with roses, perennials and honeysuckle. There's a small organic cherry tomato patch on the side of the house and you're quite welcome to grab a handful, as you wish. A flowering archway entrance to your private staircase, which was a gift to Simie from Moe upon selling the largest painting she had ever accomplished at that time! Designated parking space is great, as it can be a challenge to find a space on the street. Digitized washer/dryer another great plus in Provincetown. Pine floors and oak cabinets are natural and lovely. Sun streams through the many windows in all directions. One bedrooms gets sunrise dappled light, the living room and kitchen the warm glow of sunset on this ocean peninsula. We've just purchase two new luxurious and plush queen beds...a must after a day of summer fun! Air-conditioned and free WIFI, plus a large brand new flat screen TV for a movie on a rainy 'pajama day'. Peaceful for a perfect getaway vacation, but close enough to all the great beaches, lively shopping, fabulous restaurants, superb galleries and wild night life, as much or as little as you like!

Wonderful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in the Fall of 2009. It was quiet, large, pristine, completely clean, well-equipped, and easily accessed from the main activities. There is a striking view of the Monument. It is a second floor unit so there is no handicap access should that be a concern. The private entrance, two bedrooms and parking were pluses. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating, hospitable and friendly. We would like to stay here again!

nice place great location

  • 4 of 5

It was a nice place to stay. Bedrooms were a bit small for the queen sized beds (could only get out from one side) and the mattress in one of the rooms was quite soft and sagged in the middle. The kitchen was well equiped. Would definitely consider staying there again.

Fantastic place to stay and great host

  • 5 of 5

The rental unit was everything that one could want for a vacation. We were two couples staying for a week. The location was great- quiet residential area that was about a three minute walk to Commercial street and the bay. It was great having a deck with a bar-b-q that seated all four of us comfortably. The living room had seating for four. The kitchen had tons of cupboard space and it was great having both bar stools and a table and chairs. The bedrooms each had a dresser to put clothes away and a double closet with lots of hangers, and windows that opened. It was a hot week and we appreciated having the air conditioning as well. It was a spacious and clean unit that served us very well and helped us have a great vacation. I loved the outdoor shower and there was space to park our bikes as well.

Simie has arranged a very comfortable space and is a great hostess. She answered any questions we had. We also loved having lots of towels including beach towels. We didn't need them, but there were also beach chairs, a cooler, and a water cooling thermos.

Thanks for a great stay. We would highly recommend it.

perfect location just 5 min walk to the middle of commercial street ..very spacious clean apartment with two 10x10 ft bedrooms and a huge living space...cabinets everywhere so no problem with storage.. I only saw the owner once for 2 minutes ( the place has its own private entrance) but she was great... every time I sent her a text she responded with 10 minutes

Owner's Response: Thank you, Peter. You were the perfect guests and we would be more than delighted to have you come back anytime. True enough, as a painter with my own gallery, July and August are our busiest months and we're rarely at home...but that's a plus, since the property is very private. I'm so pleased you had a great stay!

Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this wonderful place with our 2 medium-sized dogs in October 2011 and loved it! What a lovely, comfortable space! The listing description was totally accurate. The owners were friendly and accommodating. The property was clean and well-maintained. It was close to the center of town where there are a number of exceptional restaurants, shops and galleries and, yet, it was such a nice quiet, peaceful place. I would highly recommend this apartment to relatives and friends.
