Charming Beach Cottage on Popham Beach

Get a wave from it all at the Happy Beach Cottage situated only steps from Popham’s seven mile white sandy beach. Fall asleep to crashing waves and breathe in the salt air. This charming beachfront cottage is one of 15 at Driftwood....formerly one of the beloved cottages that were known as Ocean View Campground. My cottage is perpendicular to the beach and four cottages down the line. You can see and hear the ocean from every window. In the surrounding area you can also enjoy Fox Island at low tide, Fort Popham and hiking trails at Morse Mountain. Boating and fishing and other recreational and cultural opportunities at the nearby towns of Bath and Brunswick.

Please note our association requires 7 night stay. May and October rates represent a 3 night weekend rate.

All guests must be 25 years of age or accompanied by a parent. This home is part of an association and rules set by the association must be adhered to. No Unit Owner shall obstruct or interfere with the rights of the other occupants or any them by unreasonable noise or otherwise. No Unit Owner shall use the Common Elements or Limited Common Elements for any activity that would obstruct or deter views, Ingress or egress by other Unit Owners or guests or invitees. Boats longer than 12 feet, motor homes, campers, trailers of any kind, tents, shacks, sheds, or other outbuildings are not allowed on the property. Storage for boats less than 12 feet, dinghies, kayaks and paddle boards shall be within the Unit Owners Limited Common Element and not obstruct the view of any other Unit owner. No trash, rubbish or other offensive materials degrading in appearance shall be allowed to exist on the Units or Common Elements excluding any area designated for trash and/or recycling by the Association.

Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights, lock the doors, and return the keys
Turn everything off and gently shut the windows but don't force all the way.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No Parties, quiet time starts at 9pm. Follow Condo Association’s beach access rules posted in cottage.
There is NO campfire or fire pit allowed on cottage premises. Fires are allowed at the beach.
Parking for 2 cars only in designated parking spot #18. No parking in front of cottage only to load and unload.

Lovely Retreat

This cottage is the perfect place to restore yourself and enjoy a relaxing week at Popham Beach. All of the amenities we needed were included, and it was great to be just 30 seconds away from a walk in the sand. When I contacted the host re: a question, she responded immediately, which was very helpful. Would highly recommend staying at the Driftwood!

Perfect beachy cabin!

This property is so cute, especially the kitchen. It has everything you need and nothing that you don't! The location is great--the beach is just steps away. We stayed during cooler weather-- 40s to 50s at night and the heater was quite sufficient. My only request would be a few more curtains :)

Coming Home

It was wonderful to stay at this Driftwood cottage for the week. Although the weather wasn’t the most cooperative, we made the most of our time back in an area that’s like a second home to us. The beach was beautiful and fun! The cottage was cute, well stocked with necessities, and made for a cozy nest for our Clue marathon on the stormy day.

We had such an amazing time at Popham. The cottage was clean and cozy and had everything we needed. Marianne was available by email and quick to reply to any questions we had. Perfect beach stay

We loved our stay at Marianne's cottage. It was perfect for a family of 4 with two small kids. The beach is a stone's throw from the doorway. Perfect for the kids, you don't have to lug everything back and forth at once. The cottage and beach were dog friendly (though we didn't bring our dog we could have). Absolutely great location and the beach is not crowded at all—plenty of space to enjoy. Marianne was a wonderful host and super responsive to all of our questions. We can't wait to come back! One minor suggestion would be adding some blinds in the dining area and on the doors.

We stayed as the whole family: two parents, two kids and grandma in August for a week. Everything was great: views, location, beach and weather. Cottage was clean, has everything we need, including linens, kitchen ware and outdoor grill with picnics table. Just not enough time for all the fun!

Lovely place, we hope to visit again in the future! I thought this was ocean-facing when I booked it, but I guess close enough! You can hear the ocean at night. The kitchen had the basics, could use a few more pots and pans. Linens were good, the cottage was very clean. This place is really about being on the beach in a secluded beach area.

adorable cottage in a special place

Marianne's cottage is clean and beautifully decorated in a beach theme. It's location is superb, with easy access to a pristine, uncrowded beach next to Popham Beach State Park. While it did feel "cozy," the weather was beautiful so we were outside most of the time. Living and dining area felt spacious for us. Bedrooms are small but adequate. Was quite warm in the cottage until the breeze picked up in the afternoon, so the fans were a big help. We had a lovely week with family and friends coming and going, all of whom adored the place. Thank you!

Not "on the beach"

From the online presentation we were led to believe that the property was facing directly onto the ocean. Alas, it was perpendicular to the beach, four dwellings down the line, facing the parking lot with the ocean a distant view. There are other properties in this complex that do "front" the ocean; this is not one of them.

Amazing place

We are so grateful to have had four nights here, my only complaint is that we didn’t book more time! Truly a dream- would recommend stocking up on groceries to cook dinners as the closest restaurants are a bit farther away, but the kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools and you can walk your dinner over to the beach! Fell asleep to crashing waves every night, explored at nearby giants stairs and drank coffee on the beach every morning. Wish we lived here!

Cute cottage near a beautiful beach

My husband and I enjoyed this small cottage near the ocean for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The inside of the cottage is decorated well, kitchen is stocked well, and listening to the ocean with the windows open at night was fabulous. There are several other cottages at this property but it wasn't crowded. Being able to have a fire on the beach at night was fantastic too. Although this cottage is off the beaten path enough to feel you "got away" it is also close enough to run out for food or shopping as well.

I have very fond memories of the times I spent here when my kids were younger. Generations of families would spend their summers at the former campground and it became a very special place. Now that I own a cottage, I hope other people enjoy it and make it a tradition to visit with their friends and family.

Why they chose this property

You can't beat the location! The cottage is just a minute's walk to the beach, where you can go on long walks (maybe with your furry friend), find seashells, swim, watch the sunset, and then count an unlimited number of shooting stars at night. The neighborhood is private and everyone is always very friendly.
