About Pam Lynch

I live in downtown Chicago and I love the energy and everything the city has to offer; however, I live for the moment I can escape to Harbor Country in Southwest Michigan. Within an hour and a half I'm here...all the stress of everyday life melts away and I feel on 'vacation' even when I'm here less than 24 hours. I also experience great joy in sharing my home with family and friends. And now that I'm renting my home, I feel the same happiness as my guests report in and recount how much they enjoyed the home, the nearby beaches and the country setting. I feel very lucky to be the owner of 'It's a Dog's Life Getaway'.

Pam Lynch purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Pam Lynch chose Southwest

I purchased this home because of it's easy access from the highway, yet you feel completely removed and isolated. I also wanted a home that was set back from the road, had a large yard for my dogs, offering them freedom in a secure environment. I love the open floor plan with high ceilings, yet feels cozy and warm. I also always wanted to 'rock' on a front porch and have a screened in porch...I never tire of relaxing in these areas with a magazine, cup of coffee and dogs under foot.

What makes this cottage unique

Although I seek the feeling of being 'remote' while here, I love that within minutes you can be at the beach, satisfy a 'purchase' urge at one of the many boutique style shops, and find a good meal at a small restaurant for breakfast. lunch and dinner. I don't feel the area is 'touristy' or commercial, even though most people here are enjoying a vacation. A recent surprise was how fun the wineries are to visit...especially on bikes. The area is enjoyable each season and by no means is just 'a summer home'.

Hi Pam,

I'm a big fan of a local (with broader following) dog blog - two pitties in the city - they do a feature on being a tourist with your dog, and I submitted our July getaway. The feature ran today:

Exactly as it seems - quaint, peaceful, ideal location!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time at "It's a Dog's Life". Our dog had the best time running around the yard and had his first swim in the lake at Warren Dunes. We enjoyed the local wineries and loved the entire experience. It was just the three of us this time, but we would love to come back and bring a small group of friends. We could not ask for more!

exactly as advertised

  • 5 of 5

The home looked exactly as pictured. The only problem is that it rained our entire stay. Although it is not handicapped accessible it's not bad if you have someone who can take your wheelchair up a step in a few places. Our dog loved the big secluded yard but was afraid of the doggie door. It's a pretty good sized door because my sister crawled through it trying to convince our cowardly dog to use it. We will stay here again if we get a chance.

Long Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend at It's a Dog's Life. The cottage was adorable with a large fenced backyard for our 2 dogs. Unfortunately the weather was rainy so we didn't get to use the fire pit or the patio. However, we did spend some evenings on the screened porch. The cottage is well equipped and has an authentic lake cottage feel. One room has pictures of all of the dogs that have stayed at the cottage. We were able to visit several wineries on the Wine Trail, Four Winds Casino, Silver Beach and lots of restaurants.

Pam was great to work with. When she returned our deposit it came with a postcard picture of the cottage and a picture of our dogs with the dates of our stay. We will definitely visit again hopefully when it is a little warmer.

Beautiful kid and pet friendly home with all the special touches

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to It's a Dog's Life and this visit was even better than our first. This home has all the little things that you don't think to bring on vacation already there so no worries about forgetting something. Loved sitting around the fire pit with our three little kiddos roasting marshmallows after grilling out hamburgers for dinner. Our pup loved roaming the fenced in backyard, sniffing everything in site and coming in and out his own doggy door. Warren state park is only 7 minutes away and the little village of Three Oaks is fun to explore. We spent hours playing family games (already provided at the house) when the rain hit on our third day. The beds were comfy and everything was spotless. Wireless internet and Netflix were also a blessing during the long, rainy hours. The kids loved the deck, the backyard, the twin day bed that transforms into a king, soaking in the jetted tub and the huge porch that we could sit on and watch the rain. My husband and I loved the openness of the house and that we could hear the kids and the dog no matter where they were. Thanks, Pam, for another great visit! Can't wait to come back!

A Restful Stay at a Charming Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've been to It's a Dog's Life cottage and we'll be back. Pam's home is perfect for a weekend or week long stay. It is quiet, peaceful and has everything you need for an enjoyable time away from the hustle and bustle. We love the screened porch and had breakfast here each day. Outside there is a fit pit and lots of seating. The beaches are close, though driving distance and we frequented them twice a day even in March. The beds are comfortable and the linens even more so. Our favorite place to eat on the way is Buffalo Bill's Wood Fire BBQ. We also like Red Arrow Roadhouse. Stay with can't go wrong!

Spring Break 2017

  • 5 of 5

We spend our 2017 at "It's a Dog's Life" and it was perfect. Pam couldn't have been flexible with this trip. Our family enjoyed it completely. The house was so cute and we loved that the theme was throughout the whole place. Our family dog Tucker felt right at home and it was nice to be able to travel with him so my daughter could relax knowing he was with us. The weather was very rainy so we just switch to making a fire in the fireplace instead of sitting on the screen porch or relaxing by the fire pit. The location was perfect also. Right in the heart of "Wine County" and close to some Breweries . All in all I would highly recommend this rental for families, girls weekends, people traveling with pets. Don't miss breakfast at Luisa's on Red Arrow Highway it was amazing!! Thanks again Pam.
