Had a great family vacation!

We have rented many places and the appeal of this place comes from the wild horses that came on to the property several days of the trip. Our evenings on the upper deck and our short drives to the beach we’re our favorite parts of this stay.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time here in Carova. The horses are a spectacle for sure. It's pretty certain that you'll see them at least a couple of times during a week stay. After you live here for a while, you kinda get used to them, so it is nice to be reminded of how special this place really is!

perfect location

we had 8 adults and house worked really well for us. the location was ideal. great views and very clean, and if you have any issues Laura will take care of it, as she did for us. GREAT property manager.

Great Beach House

Playing Hooky is an ideal place for families to enjoy Carova Beach. Everything was super clean. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. Internet connection is excellent so you can stream and even work from here.

Playing Hooky does offer an excellent vacation!! The huge pool makes it easy with kids, particularly since there is a cabana bath!! The internet is one of the more reliable since it is a satellite system and does not require a landline for connection. So glad you found us and please come again!!

Loved Playing Hookey!

The house was wonderful. Lots of space inside, well appointed both inside and out. Great outside spaces, lots of decks and nice pool. Highly recommended.

A great week with family

Due to the secluded located of this property, we didnt leave the house as much as if we had stayed in KDH or OBX. The house had everyone we needed and more. Laura (property manager) got us in early and was instantly responsive to any concerns or needs that we had.

Love love love OBX!

Playing hooky was perfect for our family of 9! We saw horses every day, short truck ride to beach (walked some days). Comfy beds, great views, loved the crows nest! Laura was super awesome!! DEFINITELY recommend booking thru her!!!

You are right, Playing Hooky really has quite a few nice spaces. The game room is a nice gathering spot, and large enough for MANY people to relax or play pool, or watch a movie, or play a game. Outside in the screened porch (with hot tub) is a big table for games or poker night. Pong anyone? I like the sun-room table for puzzles! The outside rockers spread throughout the decks are so comfy, you can sit and watch the ocean for hours. The roof deck/crow's nest at sunset offers a spectacular sight over the sound. We would love to have you come back to enjoy all those spaces again! :-) THANKS for the nice review!

So glad you enjoyed your stay. The pool area at Playing Hooky is huge!! And the southern exposure makes it usable all day AND NIGHT! Hot tub on level two overlooking the pool means privacy for the hot tub and since it's in the screened porch, there are no bugs to bother you during a soak! PLUS you can still see the sunset from that hot tub since it is on the southwestern edge of the screened porch. All around, great planning for the pool and hot tub!!

Amazing Location

We loved our stay at playing hooky! The location was perfect for our family vacation. The home itself was well stocked and comfortable and the views from the decks and crow's nest were breathtaking. We saw horses every day, sometimes right in the yard! It's just a short drive to the ocean for a day on the beach and we also enjoyed spending time by the pool. Groceries/Restaurants etc. are a bit of a drive - but not inconvenient by any means. Highly recommend!

4x4 Heaven!

What a blast when the only way to your home is in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Reaching your destination, (2.7 miles on the sand) is a huge adventure as you cruise parallel to the beautiful ocean with statuesque horses calmly grazing about alongside their family! Truly a gift!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had a wonderful time...weather at the beginning was stormy but enjoyed family time then the last of the vaca was on to the beach. Plenty of horses, sun and sand. House was great with lots of activities and amenities.

THANKS so much for your nice review. We were worried for those first two days... it was looking like it was going to rain FOREVER!! Thankfully, the clouds broke and the sun peeked out. Smooth sailing from then on! Thanks for your attention to the house upon checkout. We really appreciate it when folks take the time to lessen their impact! It was obvious that you cared for the house as if it were your own. :-)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had an amazing time at OBX. Laura and their rental team was wonderful to deal with. We had a couple minor issues but they were on the scene with assistance within minutes of my call. We look forward to going back and using their rental services again next year. The home was very clean one of the cleanest I've stayed in.
