Aloha and welcome to KONA TIPSY TURTLE at Hale Kona Kai #403. This is the absolute destination should you want a relaxing vacation getaway on the Kona coast. The location of this condo complex adds convenience as fun activities and amenities are within walking distance. The condo has central A/C, along with complimentary cable and WiFi, and is located on the 4th floor (top floor) with no one above you, but don't worry this complex has an elevator making for easy steps to your paradise. Hale Kona Kai has assigned covered parking, a heated salt-water swimming pool, and laundry machines on each floor.

If you haven’t yet experienced a Kona sunset in person, you’ll enjoy the front-row seat the lanai offers! Upon entry, you are welcomed with ocean breezes and truly remarkable views. The ocean comes alive with the dolphins and yellow tangs that frequent the area. The turtles (Honu) are definitely regular special guests, in addition to the seasonal whales. The picturesque view from both the lanai and bedroom creates a beautiful setting for great memories.

We pride ourselves on cleanliness and make sure that we pay attention to all the details. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Also, beach gear is available for your use. Hale Kona Kai is a non-smoking complex.

What a gem! Oceanfront condo with amazing views. I could have sat on the lanai all day watching the turtles come in & out and all the colorful fish that were coming in with the waves! Condo was very clean and organized. Everything you needed in the kitchen and more. All the amenities you can think of were provided. Even a bandaid when I needed one. Great location and walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Welcoming treats were a pleasant surprise! The hosts were easy to communicate with. Check in and out was an easy process. I highly recommend staying here. I know I will again!

Where to begin...from the moment you step into the condo, not only does the view take your breath away but the warm welcome gift of fruits and goodies as well as the beautiful style of decor is so welcoming. The condo was spotless and if you so desire, you could cook to your heart's content as there are all sorts of gadgets including a bread machine, all in matching teal color! The hosts' communication was very good via VRBO website or by text. All in all, a wonderful and relaxing place to kick back and relax. Thank you to our hosts', Steven & Jenni

What a fantastic property! This was our first year without our adult children for Thanksgiving and our first extended stay on the “Big Island”! It was a much needed rest from our crazy worlds. We loved the Lāna’i in the mornings and evenings (look for all the fish & turtles), the walking distance to downtown (we never ate at the same place twice), and the central location to either explore north or south. We even got to see Kilauea active lava flow before episode 37.

Bottom line up front: for 2 people, we'd strongly consider staying here, again. The ocean view was fantastic and the location very good to shops and such. The central AC in this unit didn't work, but they provided two portable units that were adequate. The bathroom door is a bit hard to close if you are fairly large in size. The host provided a very nice starter kit of fruits and coffee, giving you some time to plan your days. Did I mention the view was fantastic?

The unit was very well stocked for any need you may have. It is within walking distance to great restaurants and shops. The view was amazing and the sunsets never disappointed. The host was most generous with their thoughtful gifts to celebrate our anniversary.

Excellent experience! The other reviews were very accurate. The Lees have done a great job creating a clean, welcoming, lovely oceanfront condo in Kona. There are extra amenities you cannot get at a resort like plenty of towels, beach equipment, great coffee, ice maker and puzzles and games. The lanai was one of favorite places to hang out during our trip. We felt safe and well taken care of. Thank you both!! We are already looking forward to coming back and staying again!
We saw this turtle immediately upon arriving, and saw many more during our stay.
There were hundreds of fish, especially tang, black trigger, parrot, and moorish idol, right from the balcony. Amazing!

It has everything you need and more. There was a bowl of Island fruits and wine on the counter when we arrived. The sound of the ocean and the reef fish below the lanai are unbeatable. We were able to walk to restaurants and a nearby snorkel beach. A cool place for 2 in a great location. The hosts, Steven Lee and Jenni, are the best. Mahalo!

Beautiful well-located condo on the ocean with everything we needed!

The unit was a dream! Very walkable location to the downtown shops and restaurants, well-stocked with everything we needed, extremely comfortable and loved hearing the sound of the waves crash on the rocks!

One can not get any closer to the ocean. We could seedozens of yellow tang fish and turtles from the 4th floor balcony.The owners have tried to anticipate their guests every need. The coffee and fruit were greatly appreciated.Also, there was plenty of beach gear.The unit was spotless.We would return anytime!

Never wanted to leave

The property was beautiful. The decor was gorgeous and very fitting for the location. The special touches for our 40th anniversary was deeply appreciated. We enjoyed the chilled glasses with the Champaign while wearing our leis. The fresh fruit and treats were delicious, especially for our first night. The view was breath taking. We saw several turtles every day, along with a variety of so many fish! We loved every moment. Thank you!

Our hosts were pleasant and communicative. They obviously take ownship pride in their unit. Very well stocked kitchen, linnens and watersport gear. We have stayed in different units in this building many times. This is our favorite unit in the last 7 years!

Truly Epic

Honu Hideaway was amazing. This was a sister vacation for my sister’s 60th birthday. We arrived to a beautiful birthday flower arrangement, a fruit bowl, and several other goodies. The view is amazing! We spent much of our time on the balcony. The inside is perfectly decorated and comfy. No detail too small. I also appreciated the toiletries since my luggage didn’t arrive for several days. Perfection! We hated to leave!

Coastal Condo

Kailua Kona condo over crashing waves made our stay enjoyable. Condo is clean and decorated in coastal theme. Loved the thick turtle towels! We appreciated the owner provided coffee, fruit, Hawaiian cookies and chocolates. Location is great for walking to restaurants and shops. Condo on 4th floor (top) with elevator. Kitchen supplied with plates and silverware for us to make our breakfasts which we enjoyed on the outdoor patio.

Epic is an Understatement!

Wow! What a great property! Very nice condo, with plenty of room, very comfortable and a wonderful lanai to soak in the sun, ocean sounds and views, all immediately above the water! Only a few minute walk to town center, restaurants, bars, retail! Great pool to relax by and quiet. No road noises, only ocean surf. Great host by the way! Will stay again! Thanks!

Perfect Vacation

The view from the balcony is amazing. We had the community pool to ourselves most morning. There’s a small beach a five min walk away. Restaurants and bars could not be closer. All around a perfect vacation m. Thank you!

The perfect condo in Kona

Everything about this condo was great. The lanai is right on the ocean with waves crashing below you. The location is a few minutes walk from some great restaurants (Hugo’s, on the rocks, Fosters Kitchen) but away from the busier and more touristy north end of town. There is a beautiful tennis center across the street where you can rent a court for 15. The kitchen is well stocked so we were able to cook a couple of meals, and the hosts left some delicious local goodies for us. We would definitely stay again whe we are back in Kona.

Amazing Ocean views and amenities

If you want a place to stay to relax and have access to so many wonderful adventures this is the place to stay. It is like staying in a top notch hotel with amazing views of the ocean. The condo is beautiful and filled with all the things you need to make your stay feel like your home away from home. The pictures don’t do it justice.

This unit is not only in the heart of Kona Town, but also captures the beautiful oceanfront scenery that Kona is known for. Great eateries are within walking distance and you watch the marine life and popular water activities from the lanai.

I personally remolded this unit to ensure a beautiful visit upon entry. The attention to detail seamlessly flows from the front door all the way through to the Pacific Ocean horizon. Truly the best kind of "blues"!
