Overview

About the property

Studio, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

We invite you to visit 'ALOFT.' We're located in a state park, and only 35% of Jekyll Island can be developed. We are surrounded by marshlands and the sea. Our property is situated on a quiet street, nestled between the marshlands and stately oak and pine forests. This beautiful 1000 square foot loft has a private entrance and on-site parking.

Just one minute away you'll discover the 18 miles of bike trails surrounding the island. You can bike to the fishing pier and beach and arrive in five minutes. Or, you may want to visit the Historic District, where over 300 millionaires once lived. They built homes and a Club House on our island, beginning in 1888. They typically spent 3-5 months down here yearly for the next 54 years. Their homes are being restored and many can be visited and appreciated.

We also have a world renowned Sea Turtle Center, where injured and sick turtles are flown in for surgeries and rehabilitation, and later released back to the sea. Bike toward the south and visit the Tidelands Nature Center, enjoy bird and wildlife viewing, or swim and sunbath on our 12 miles of white sand beaches. We have a seasonal Summer Waves Water Park, four famous golf courses, Red-bug Motorcar rentals, and carriage rides and trolley tours. Also, for the adventurous, scout out the hideaways of our local alligators! All this and so much more!

All activities are within minutes. Bed linens, towels and kitchen items are furnished. You bring food, toiletries and enjoy.

A 50% deposit is required for all stays and the balance is due 14 days prior to arrival. Deposit is non-refundable but may be used to change/reserve dates (pending availability) for up to one year after the original reservation date. Reservations less than 14 days prior to arrival require payment in full. A two night minimum stay is required. Contact the owner for tax information for stays longer than 30 days.

"Aloft" is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in between the Jekyll Island airport and the campground. That puts us 5 to 10 minutes from the Jekyll Island beaches by car. Bicycle paths start one block from the house.

Also, you should know that "Aloft" is an open and airy unit with lots of natural light. It has a private entrance through our garage. You may hear the garage door open and close at 6:30 or so in the morning during the days of Monday through Friday as that is the time that we go to work. That has not bothered most of our guests, but we don't want that to be a surprise. Otherwise the unit is very quiet. Kitchen facilities are limited. Cooking facilities are a toaster oven, a two burner hot-plate and a microwave. The refrigerator is hotel sized.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions and if "Aloft" will work for you.

We await you at 'ALOFT' on Jekyll Island: 'Georgia's Jewel.'

About Michael Mueller

Pam and Michael Mueller have lived in coastal Georgia for ten years. They met here in 1988, while studying law enforcement at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, GA. At that point, they made a pact that if they were to marry one day, they would return to live in the Golden Isles. Seven years later their dreams came true! Michael continues working with law enforcement, now teaching Physical Training to Homeland Security students at FLETC. Pamela has become a children's author. She has written eight award-winning books and will release her first adult book in 2010. The Muellers bought a home with an 'undeveloped' loft and decided to refurbish it and turn it into a rental unit. This has turned into a delightful abode, and they very much enjoy sharing their little piece of paradise with others.

Michael Mueller purchased this studio in 2009

Why Michael Mueller chose Jekyll Island

We remodeled the loft of our residence for our frequent guests and visiting family. When it is not occupied, we wanted to rent it out and share the magic of Jekyll Island with others who yearn to spend their free time in 'splendid paradise,' which incidentally, is the title of Pamela's new book and tells the story of Jekyll Island.

What makes this studio unique

Benefits are mentioned in above information.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Today was one of the most beautiful days we can remember. We saw the most beautiful birds (painted buntings) that we have wanted to see for a very long time. The beauty of Jekyll Island is like none other! Your home and "Aloft" is awesome!! I assure you, we will be back! Thank you for providing such a wonderful space to decompress.

Five minutes from Jekyll Island Historic District. For 54 years, from the Gilded Age to WWII, Jekyll Island was the second home to more than 300 Millionaires, who spent 3-5 months in their 'cottages' here. Their homes have been restored and offer an amazing glimpse into the past.

My Charming and Welcoming Stay in "Aloft" on Jekyll Island

  • 5 of 5

I had the privilege of Staying in Aloft at Jekyll Island September 1-3, 2017. The space was both charming and very welcoming; I felt at home the moment I walked in! My Hosts, Michael and Pamela, were in contact with me from my reservation to the end of my stay (offering suggestions for activities and meals on their Home Away Site). In addition, they had a delightful welcome basket there for me upon arrival! There are books to read, electronics to enjoy, a wonderful roof top deck that gives you the feeling of being in a treehouse! I found Aloft to be a true gem on Jekyll Island that offered everything that I was looking for this trip........someplace that was quiet so that I could relax and "re-charge" for a time; someplace close to the natural beauty of the island; walking and bike paths; the historic area; and the beach. I found all of this and more during my stay at Aloft. I only wish that I had more time to stay! I definitely plan to return to Aloft! I simply cannot say enough about this delightful place and my equally delightful and kind Hosts! Michael and Pamela......you guys are the BEST!!!!!!

Perfect Get Away

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've spent a long weekend staying at Aloft. It's perfect for us, a couple who loves to have a quiet retreat away from the island's convention center, hotels and water park. It's very clean, aesthetically pleasing, close to the bike trail and hassle-free.

Georgia Hospitality at it's finest!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on Jekyll Island and really enjoyed our little Loft. Aloft is a private cozy place, that feels like home. We had a great time bike riding and taking in the rich landscape. We also loved that it was only minutes on a bike to the Jekyll Island Club. Our "Author" host Pamela was generous and kind. We were mesmerized by her biography and all of her adventures! Definitely a great stay!

Quiet, Relaxing, and Hospitable

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on here don't do it justice. We had an absolute blast staying here on vacation. The area is quiet with almost no light pollution. The hosts are wonderfully hospitable and really ensure you have the most pleasant stay possible. Aloft is well-equipped, well-furnished, with plenty of room (and reading material!!!!). We can definitely recommend it, especially for travelers wanting peace and quiet.
