About this property
Bella Vista : Peaceful, Relaxing, and Comfortable, 30 - 60 day stays only
Every room of this 3 bedroom home on San Francisco Bay has gorgeous views of the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, or restful patios. Crunch across the gravel driveway and enter a sunny sheltered area in back of the house, enclosed by a warm stone patio. Lush plantings invite you to come in the Dutch kitchen door, which is painted the color of favorite geraniums. Or, if you follow the stone path around to the front entry, you will come upon the spectacular San Francisco Bay views framed by gracefully branching trees. From the front windows you can watch the changes to the beautiful town of Sausalito and the Golden Gate Bridge across the water, as sailboats traverse the waterfront and the sun makes graceful changes all day.
The quaint village of Tiburon is a quick drive or a 20 minute stroll on the bayside bike path. From there, take the ferry to San Francisco (17 minutes) or Angel Island, or for a sunset cruise around the bay.
Visit the historic towns nearby to shop, play, or eat at famous restaurants, or just stay at Bella Vista all day to relax. Bella Vista is within a short drive to five great beaches (5-30 minutes), the Napa-Sonoma wine country (30 minutes), and the City, (15-20 minutes). Mill Valley, Sausalito, and 2 large shopping centers are about 10 minutes away. Mt. Tamalpais, the birthplace of the mountain bike, is next to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, about 20 minutes away.

We enjoyed the view of Richardson Bay and the pelicans skimming along the water, the vintage touches and local artwork throughout the house, and the nearby walking and dining opportunities.

Thank you Peter, we enjoyed having you stay. Hope all is well with your family.
The location of Bella Vista was perfect with spectacular water views of Sausalito & the Golden Gate Bridge. Easy access to the rail trail across the street was a plus. We really enjoyed the deck & the fenced in yard for our dog. Overall, we fell in love with Tiburon from the quaint downtown, wonderful shops & the beautiful neighborhoods.
Tiburon is my favorite location around SF Bay and this property is ideally located to enjoy the surrounding area. Hike to town, catch a ferry, enjoy the views in the amply spacious home.
The owners were pleasant and responsive.
My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful home while she recovered from surgery - we needed to stay near UCSF hospital. It could not have been more peaceful and comfortable. All of the rooms were beautifully decorated, the kitchen well stocked with the utensils we needed to cook most of our meals, and the views were unrivaled. Every day felt like we were watching a National Geographic program out of the front window. Lots of bird watching and fog rolling over the hills. Ad far as location, it was easy to walk to the grocery and Main Street from the house, but you do need to cross one busy street. The owners were charming and there were a lot of momentos from the history of the house in photos. That was fun to learn. I also hiked up in the hills to take in views from every side of the peninsula. Traveling to the city was easy across the Golden Gate Bridge. I can’t think of any ways this visit could have been improved.
Memories were made! And incredible property position poignantly in this beautiful community. Everything about this home is charming and provides Rich historical experiences. I would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to Tiburon or its surrounding areas. We will definitely be back!. Thank you for having us. My review is for one night as the power was shut the second day due to the possibility of fires sparking. Meredith was very much attentive to our situation & helpful.
The house is clean & spacious with a beautiful view. In the afternoon it does get hot with the sun coming in & no AC in the house. A new shade is there to be installed to help keep the sun out so that will make it better. It did cool down at night with the windows open.
Gas grill in the garage & full kitchen had everything we needed.
Beautiful dining table with a view in the living room. Plenty of seating. The bedrooms are spacious & comfortable. Lovely walk to the ferry & restaurants. There is a small expensive market in town. Safeway market is off Route 101 & not far from the house.
One note: Driveway entrance is on the side street: Gilmartin Drive, not on Tiburon Blvd.
We will definitely be back, it was way too short!
We absolutely loved our stay at Bella Vista! It is the most remarkable setting and view I have experienced in a long time! We found Bella Vista relaxing and serene as we gazed out at Richardson Bay in sunshine and in light fog. Thank you Meredith and Bill for providing this oasis in the Bay Area and allowing our dogs as well. We will definately return again!Cheryl and SandeeCooper and Jackson
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the property. It lived up to everything we expected. The hosts were responsive. The location was fantastic. We have already thought about returning again.
My wife, 2 year old daughter, dog, and myself spent 78 nights at Bella Vista and enjoyed every single one. Incredible views, a big yard, and great proximity to the bike path and town were huge pluses for us and the house was comfortable and spacious for our small family. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating and every turn.
We stayed in Tiburon for a week in early March with our two adult sons. The house was very comfortable both inside and out. The family room was great to come together and hang out and there was also plenty of space where everyone could get some privacy. The view of the bay is incredible.!! A great house.
House was very charming with an amazing view and location. Master bed was a bit rickety and mattresses were a bit hard for my taste but it was still all pretty great as a whole.
What a beautiful place for some much needed R&R. The view across the bay was outstanding and the ferry right out of Tiburon to Pier 41 was an added bonus. Good times!
We had great stay at Tiberon
We decided to stay here rather than in SFO and this turned out to be a great decision.
The house was as described, fully equipped and well positioned.
A 20 minute walk to the ferry and a very relaxing journey into the city, far better than driving.
a fabulous stay and we would return some day if we get the opportunity

Lovely house in a lovely, convenient town
We stayed for over six weeks and despite the length of time we always felt comfortable with what the house and town provided. Situated right on the bay the the beautiful view varies with the weather. The beautiful path along the bay(formerly a railway right-of way) was a great place to walk our Lab. She loved the novel smells, being an Easterner herself. The bay is home to many herons, ibis, pelicans, hawks and ducks as well many pet dogs. All our guests commented on how lovely the house and view were
Bella Vista is comfortably appointed and the kitchen was easy to use. The gas stove was a perfect fit for us except for the day our son came over to make us dinner for us and a few of his friends. Even then there were enough pots and pans.
The owners were very helpful, for example their lists and menus of nearby restaurants were on target. There are lots of good restaurants in Tiburon and Sausalito just a quick drive away. A good chunk of San Francisco where our son lives is only a half hour away with more good dining and lots of good opportunities for day trips. Our daughter's family was an hour away in Silicon valley. Napa was about forty five minutes north. It was easy to get around and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
PS Rush hour can be bad so avoid it if you can.

About the host
Hosted by Meredith and Bill Rolfe
Earl and Arthulene Linman built this house, Bella Vista, in 1950 and their daughter and son-in-law inherited it in 2007. We began renovation in 2008 and finished in 2009. Meredith grew up here and has always loved the house and the community. We think you will, too.
Why they chose this property
The unique climate of the area around Bella Vista is warmer than downtown Tiburon, San Francisco and Sausalito, but with views of the fog that may roll over the Sausalito hills to the bay. Year-round, the climate is more comfortable than most other Bay Area communities.
What makes this property unique
The views from Bella Vista are world-class. We come here to relax and we can leave our stresses behind. We love to hike on the hills behind the house and Mount Tam, and walk on the bike path in front of the house. We love to beachcomb on the shore across the street, go to the beach on Paradise Drive or Fort Chronkite, or go to the city for a faster pace. We love it here!
