About Debbie Williams
We have a family construction company in Florida and this property has been a vacation retreat for many years. We have recently decided to build cabins in the North Carolina area.
Debbie Williams purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Debbie Williams chose Newland No. 2
We visited the area in 1985 on a family vacation and absolutely fell in love with the area and decided to purchase mountain acreage and built a family vacation cabin. We later decided to develop the property to build future cabins. This is the first cabin that we have built on the property for public use in 2009.
What makes this Cabin unique
The seclusion of this cabin is unmatched. Access to the cabin is via a private road that is shared by one other cabin. This location is also very close to nearby attractions: ski slopes, hiking, white water rafting, Grand Father Mountain, and shopping. This area is also home to many yearly events: Octoberfest and Roasting of the Pig at Sugar Mountain, the Highland games, the Wooly Worm Festival, etc.

Good, but could be great
First, the house is designed and built beautifully. Location and solitude was top notch, and porch area is great for morning coffee or afternoon book reading.
That said, though the house is beautiful, it is not being maintained very well, and lacks some features that someone would expect for a newly built cabin or house. Upon arrival there were bulbs out in several light fixtures, the trash can lid was destroyed and set back in place with a piece of wood to hold it on and the bathroom vent fan was broken off and chipping off what appears to be bits of rust into the downstairs bathtub.
As far as amenities, it should be noted that the house has NO WI-FI or Internet access of any kind and cell reception topped out at 3G and was spotty at best. Also, an updated tv (instead of the old 90's family room edition), a cheap propane grill (in place of the small apartment style charcoal) and a few more cooking utensils in kitchen would make a huge difference.
Thank you for your compliments on the beauty of our log cabin. Sorry for the inconvenience of the light bulbs and minor maintenance issues. Since your visit we have replaced bulbs and a new trash can has been added. WE NOw HAVE INTERNET/WIFI SERVICES AT THE CABIN. A NEW SMART TV HAS BEEN ADDED AS WELL.
We have a fully equipped kitchen with all the conveniences of home with a with variety of cooking utensils. We pride ourselves with the rustic beauty and tranquil setting of our cabin.
We booked this cabin to escape from Hurricane Irma, and we are so glad we did. It is quiet and peaceful, sitting on the side of a mountain off the main road, but it is close enough to a small town that you can get groceries and supplies easily. It is very cozy, comfortable and relaxing - we did a whole lot of nothing which was wonderful!. The front porch is a lovely place to just sit and rock - even when its pouring with rain. We only stayed for 2 nights, but would love to come back for a longer stay under better circumstances.
We had a wonderful visit at the cabin. It was spotless, perfect location and supplied with all the things you need! Close to wonderful wineries, caverns and hiking!! I would highly recommend Debbie's cabin. We will surely be back! Also dog friendly which is a huge plus!!
Lovely cabin and setting with everything we needed.
Enjoyed our stay for a nice retreat and access to local areas of interest.
We decided on a last minute weekend getaway--Debbie was very accommodating and so helpful! Pictures do not do this cabin justice--very spacious and super nice! The view from the front porch was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the rockers every evening to enjoy the cool mountain breezes-nice picnic table on the back porch as well. This cabin has the feel of seclusion but is actually very convenient to restaurants/groceries/shopping, etc. We have found a gem and will definitely be back soon to enjoy it!!
The cabin is well built and beautiful. It is more spacious than the pictures can show. The master bedroom is a loft and therefore has no door. There is a bathtub upstairs and a nice shower in the downstairs bath. Can sleep 6 but has seats at table for 4. Leaves were beautiful at this time.
