The Basecamp is the perfect hub for accessing Wayne National Forest, the Baileys Trail system, Hocking Hills, Ohio University and many other Southeastern Ohio treasures. Basecamp guests will be surrounded by the Baileys Trail System: 70 miles of maintained trails for mountain biking, hiking and unlimited outdoor adventures.

Very clean. Three bathrooms, two showers. Strong AC. New build, smells like fresh pine. We'll equipped. The host was lovely and communicative. It's a lovely cabin in the woods. 20 minutes to Athens.

Perfect location for mountain biking

Stayed here with some friends for a weekend of mountain biking. Biking to and from the trails was easy and convenient. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We will definitely be back.

Bailey’s getaway

Moms Weekend at OU

Had a great time not too far from OU maybe 20 minutes. Cabin was clean and the beds were comfortable. Just wish the weather would have been better to enjoy the fire pit and the outside seating. Would rent again!

Great stay close to Bailey's

Our family plus one friend had a great time at Bailey's. A couple of us slept in the cabin and a couple tent-camped outside the first night then joined the others in the cabin on night 2 when thunderstorms rolled through. We loved the super close proximity to Bailey's as 2 members of our party spend most of the weekend mountain biking. A couple of others went fishing and hiking nearby. This is a great home base for a trip to SE Ohio where you can enjoy fun activites out in nature! We would gladly stay here again and recommend this place to others!

Solid Option

The place itself was very well constructed and cared for. Good wifi. The bathroom/shower is a bit far away, though it seems they’re building new ones connected to the house. The lack of running water is challenging, and it could use a tv. Still, generally a good option if in the Athens area.

The perfect spot

The owner and property manager at Bailey's were perfectly delightful. It was the perfect mix of functionality and camping. We enjoyed just spending time at the camp. We saw more stars than we had ever seen on our stay. Our two adventurous boys explored the bubbling creek behind the property and we were truly able to relax knowing they were safe. We rarely saw a car pass while we were there. Very relaxing! We did have a problem with the electric skillet. For some reason it didn't work. Our host quickly replaced the skillet and also gave us a dozen free eggs from the chickens on the property. Win win! Thank you for a great vacation Baily's camp!

Well Equipped Cabin but No Wifi

Beautiful little cabin with everything you need but running water and Wifi. Greeted in the morning by the local roosters and turkey who made himself at home on our front porch-scared the dickens out me when i was headed out to the showers. The local cat was also very sweet and we actually found him in our cabin after a day at Ohio U visiting our daughter...not sure how it got in there? All these things my wife and I found charming and quirky which made our stay unique vs a local Hampton Inn. My only complaint is having no wifi or cell service we found difficult as we were needing to communicate with our daughter. Other than that, some would find no running water a problem but we did not due to having a shower about 50 yards away. I can see how this can great if you biking the local trails...nice firepit and beautiful setting.

City girl & son enjoy cabin in the woods

Rented for the weekend due to daughters graduation from OU . Seemed deep in the woods and relatively remote when we arrived in the dark. The cabin sits alongside the road in a little (slightly scruffy) “campsite” … and we realized that the caretakers home was not far. Which was good to know. Cabin access could not have been easier. Once in, we discovered a spotlessly clean, nicely furnished, charming little space to stay smelling of fresh cut wood. Delightful! Comfy couch, nicely lit, with a little kitchenette sporting a microwave & decent size ‘fridge (happy to see since I had to store a few things for the following days graduation party). We slept soundly in 2 of the 4 beds in the upstairs loft … solid mattress & nice sheets. Only drawback is that there is no running water in this cabin … I detail I neglected to notice when reading through the info. before booking it for the weekend. Sigh. Finding the shower also had me stumped (also missed that). There is a helpful binder in the cabin with info. on WiFi, hiking trails, local restaurants, maps, and such. Nowhere does it mention the location of the showers, which would’ve been helpful. 😉. I located the building with 2 bathrooms the next morning, which were large and well equipped. Nice towels! All in all it worked out fine … My son, and I had a good laugh about my missing a few details with the booking … But it was a charming place to stay, and not terribly far from campus.

Hi Paige, We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We are currently installing water and 2 full bathrooms attached to the existing cabin which should be completed this summer. The bathroom location is on the booking site but I'll make sure to add it the cabin binder. I haven't heard anyone refer to the campsite as "Scruffy" perhaps you're referring to the tractor attachments and logs around the property? We harvest and mill our own lumber to continue the development of the Basecamp. Hopefully it didn't take away from the beauty of the forest surrounding the cabin. Unexpected Accommodations

The first thing to know is the two full bathrooms are NOT accessible from inside the cabin. It is only fair for people to know this. The first description/pictures lack important details than those you receive with your check-in instructions. I never would have booked a property whose shower I couldn't access from inside the cabin, had I known. The half-bath inside the cabin was miniscule. The bathroom sink basin was smaller than a sheet of paper, and a commercial soap dispenser was mounted directly above it, all but preventing one's washing their face or spitting out toothpaste. There were no hand towels, only bath towels and washcloths, and no hooks/towel rack. There was only one kitchen towel. The refrigerator and freezer appeared not to have been cleaned inside for some time. There was food smeared on the outside of the portable dishwasher as well as some utensils. The bottle caps were not emptied from the bottle opener. The pictures of the property were taken at night, so it's difficult to see the whole property, which needed extensive tidying. These things said, the positives were that it was relatively easy to find. The entire cabin and bathrooms appeared to be newly constructed. Other than the things mentioned above, overall it was clean (there were lots of dead bugs, but it is the woods). Every window had a rolling shade.There was adequate seating. The beds and pillows were comfortable, but the sheets weren't cotton, so they were hot.

Sharon, Thanks for staying with us. The property description specifically says there is a half bath indoors and 2 full bathrooms outside. The indoor bathroom is small as it is a tiny cabin. There are 19 pictures on the listing. The pictures show all 3 bathrooms and pictures of the property. 3 pictures show the property at night and the rest are daylight pictures. We utilize hand dryers to be eco friendly which is very important to us. We will add hand towels and move the soap dispenser as you recommended. We take cleaning very serious and based on other reviews we believe this was an isolated incident. There are multiple hooks for towels in the cabin, 4 by the front door, 1 behind the interior bathroom door, 4 upstairs and 2 in each of the outdoor bathrooms. We appreciate your feedback. Bailey's basecamp is an excellent place to say if you are looking for the ideal cabin experience. Cabin is fully stocked with everything you need with a good amount of indoor space in case of rain (which it did during our stay). Upstairs air conditioning kept it cool while we slept. Easy access to the Bailey's trail system for some of the best mountain biking in the state. Highly recommended, will stay there again.

Great place to stay for MTB riders ... trails are a short dirt-road ride away in both directions. Everything about the place was great -- including the tortiseshell cat hanging about ;-) It's sooooo quiet at night, and DARK! True bliss. WiFi was great, TV was HUGE, loved the water cooler. Beds were comfortable, even the downstairs couch/pullout bed. Place was spotless, with dozens of thoughtful touches (sugar and whitener for coffee, plenty of K-cups, lighters for the grill in case the clicker didn't work, and on and on)Would love to stay there again!

I really only used this for a crash pad while visiting my daughter at OU. I do have to say that the area was beautiful and I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in years! I’d definitely like to come back and explore the trails and use the camp site.
