About Chris Rosenthal
Twice a year the owner offers a couples coaching workshop retreat. Chris is a psychotherapist who left her private practice in Florida to build a retreat center at the western edge of the Catskill Mountains. "It was my idea of retirement." In addition to the chalet cabin, there are two yurts that are for rent that are tucked in the woods, with modern bath and kitchens. Chris lives on the property in a prefab house designed by Resolution 4: Architecture.
Chris Rosenthal purchased this cabin in 2002
Why Chris Rosenthal chose East Meredith
The mountain chalet cabin sits on a raised wrap-around deck in the woods and nature, with meadow and mountain views. The 70 private acres sits in a rural area, surrounded by farms. Some like to come and never leave "the hill". Others want to enjoy what the area has to offer. There are 3 towns within 20 minutes, with local dining restaurants, shopping, antique stores and gallery shops. A quaint bookstore village is close by. A nearby farm will deliver farm to table dining. Kayaking is 25 minutes away, a nearby lake for swimming is 10 minutes. In addition to the property's trails, there are numerous hiking opportunities in the area, including hiking or skiing on nearby mountains. Fishing and golfing is also 20 minutes away. Museums and concerts are also nearby. The West Kortright Center that offers concerts during the summer in a country setting, is just 5 miniutes. The Hanford Mills Museum likewise is 5 minutes. Cooperstown with its Dreams Park is 35 and 25 minutes. Glimmerglass Opera House is 75 minutes. The topography in the entire area is spectacular, so you can't drive on any country road that doesn't have breathtaking scenery.
What makes this cabin unique
I fell in love with the property the minute I drove up its winding road. The tall maple and pine trees, the breathtaking view of the next mountain over, the neighboring fields, the open skies. But most of all, I fell in love with what I now call "a PEACE of the Catskills". The quiet, peacefulness was just what I was looking for....away from city lights and city sounds and city congestion. There are ravens and an occasional eagle overhead rather than jet noises.
