We enjoyed this property. Plenty of room for 6 adults. We stayed as Hurricane Ian was approaching the coast and the path was still uncertain. The only issue we experienced is the upstairs shutters literally whistle, a lot and loudly, when the wind is over 25 mph. We would stay here again without question.

Thank you for reviewing our home. We are so glad you were able to enjoy your stay and will have maintenance look at the shutters. Please let us know when you are ready to return!
It was as my daughter in law said,” the best house ever
We love the layout for all ages, the location to the ocean was perfect with the ramp down to the water. The bench on the shore was a gift! The kitchen was stocked with anything you needed. Loved the ocean designing inside and esp the living area entertainment design of books. ( lots of readers in our group). We would come back in a heartbeat!
My family has a wonderful stay. The house was in a great, quiet location and very clean and perfect for our family of 4 plus a grandparent. We loved all the sleeping space and the kids loved the loft area. The spacious and well-stocked kitchen was wonderful as well. The only recommendation would be to consolidate some things to leave a couple cabinets open for groceries. However, with the ample counter space, this wasn’t a huge deal for us.
One of the pools was close by and very nice.
We will definitely plan to book again for our next beach vacation!

Awesome Bungalow!
We just returned from our first visit to St. George Island and our stay in Mariner's Compass was very nice. We had 4 adults and 1 9 year old. The upstairs loft was great for her and the 2 downstairs bedrooms were perfect and have the most awesome view. The kitchen is nicely renovated and very well stocked. Whether home or away, there are always maintenance issues and we experienced two while there - the A/C wasn't working when we arrived, the management company promptly brought over a portable unit to cool us down for the night. A few days later we discovered a water leak underneath the house, someone was there that day to repair it. Awesome house - loved the walkway to the beach and the neighbors who own the house next door are super nice. The only thing that could improve are the couches in the living room - beautiful to look at, but not comfortable at all and would also be nice if there were TVs in the bedrooms. We loved St. George and will definitely be back!

We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at Mariners Compass. Thank you for sharing your experience. We choose the couches to be generous and roomy, the best size to curl up in with a book, a cup of coffee, or a couple of kids. We will look into adding cushions to make them more comfy!

Our Piece of Heaven
Our family has stayed in Mariner's Compass the past 3 summers for our "week in paradise!" I first stayed on St George Island in the early 80's and upon my return in 2008 I was delighted to find the island unspoiled by high rises & clubs and was thrilled to share the quiet island experience with my family! Finding Mariner's in it's first rental year was a fabulous treat for our little family of 4 from Iowa. We are very happy to hear that the house is now under new ownership and look forward to a return visit to enjoy the new decor & updates noted in the photos! This house is truly a "best kept secret" and sits on the best strip of the Gulf in the Plantation. Mariner's has always been well stocked, clean and inviting and is the perfect size for our family of four. Our 2 teens take turns claiming the loft with private balcony or the queen room with sliders to the deck while we enjoyed the king master with sliders to the other side of the huge deck. We love the winding boardwalk to the beach, outdoor shower, tuck under parking and the gorgeous views of the Gulf from the deck with palms leaning nearby. Last year we brought our bikes and enjoyed early morning rides through the trails. Mariner's is conveniently located mid-Plantation so it was a fun ride West to the Cut or East to Gulf Beaches. So, one week each summer we head south to our perfect escape! We love the island charm, and its' calm, quiet beauty - magnificent sunrises & sunsets, watching dolphins, shelling, swimming, sunning, beach combing, boogie boarding & family laughter. Last summer we watched quietly in awe, sitting on a towel, while mama sea turtle nested right in front of the house! Camping in Yellowstone, Disney resorts, and the hustle & bustle of Myrtle Beach have never lured us back, but Mariner's Compass has never failed to charm & delight us and we are eager to return... :D

We are so glad you enjoy Mariner's and can't wait for you to see our changes! It is such a special spot and we really love it too; the way it's tucked in those neat little oak trees and the wide beach. St. George Island is a wonderful place overall and we certainly hope you and your family continue to enjoy it from Mariner's Compass for years to come!

Great rental on St. George!
We stayed at Mariner's Compass in July 2011 and had a wonderful stay. The view from each bedroom is incredible and the privacy allowed by each room makes this property a nice getaway with friends. In the past eleven years, we have stayed at many houses in the Plantation and appreciate the comfort at this cottage combined with a beautiful location that exceeded our expectations. Given the reasonable rate and excellent location, we believe this cottage is a best kept secret on the plantation. We plan on returning to this property next year. We can't wait to see what the new owners have in store for this island gem.

Great view and location in plantation, but house dirty and neglected
My family stayed in Mariner's Compass 7/2-7/9, 2011. We had a great time. The view is beautiful and the house is 2 blocks to the community pool and tennis. HOWEVER, the house is in bad shape. The carpet throughout living area is badly stained, the kitchen counter tops are tiled and dirty looking. Everything needs updated, the couches need to replaced, everything is very worn looking. Owners need to put some money into this house badly!!!!

Thank you for your stay at Mariners' Compass back in 2011, and for your helpful feedback. Since your stay, the new owners have COMPLETELY renovated this wonderful bungalow. New kitchen, new bathrooms, new tile, new furniture, new paint, new porch, new boardwalk!! And, the view of the Gulf of Mexico is still beautiful from every room in the house. We invite you back for visit!
