About the property

Log Cabin on 3.7 private acres , 2 Bedrooms 2 Baths, (Sleeps 1-5)

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet getaway from the usual hustle bustle, the June Grass log cabin is the place to choose. Tucked among an aspen grove on nearly four acres with snowcap mountain views, the June Grass Cabin is conveniently located 3.5 miles from the fly-fishing capital of Fairplay, CO, home to the historic South Park City. The June Grass Cabin was tastefully renovated in 2008 and is regularly maintained for that new, fresh feel. It features a master suite with queen size bed, exclusive satellite receiver and VHS/DVD player, plush towels, granite bath countertop and jet tub to pamper yourself.

The fully stocked kitchen, opens to the dining/living room area with hardwood flooring, double size sofa sleeper and inviting furnishings. Stay cozy in the living room with wood burning stove or snuggle up to the 32” flat screen TV and video library, or select one of many board games for family fun. For your guests, the second bedroom offers a log double & twin size bunk bed with the second bath close by. A separate office with computer desk, satellite WiFi by Exede, stocked bookshelf and double size futon permits you the privacy to browse the books or finish some last minute work.

Bar-b-que on the expansive deck, star gaze from the six (6) person hot tub on the deck, enjoy the views from the swing chair and spend meal time at the counter height dining table or outdoor table set. Enjoy fishing in the stocked trout pond, 5 minutes away, for exclusive use of Owners and Guests. Best of all, the June Grass Cabin is less than 30 miles to Breckenridge and within an hours drive to Vail, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Dillon Lake, Eleven Mile & Spinney reservoirs and rafting on the Arkansas River.

Unlike some other vacation rental properties in the area, the roads getting to the cabin are not steep or on the shady side of a mountain ridge. The roads are maintained by Park County all the way up to the driveway which is plowed when 3 or more inches of snow fall. Due to the unpredictable storms in the Rockies, 4WD is recommended, but not required.

Traveling from Denver or Colorado Springs takes approximately 1.5 hours, 2.0 hours from Denver International Airport and Colorado Springs Airport.

Be sure to visit www.coloradodirectory.com/parkcounty/events.html when planning your visit.

I do offer a 10% discount to Military and First Responders upon proof of service/employment. Be sure to mention it in your inquiry or Book It Now so I can adjust the quote....and thank you for your service!!!

About Colette

Colette is a semi-retired Colorado Real Estate Broker and dog-sledder (aka: musher). Her business partner and her acquired the cabin in 2007 and completely remodeled it in 2008. Colette's passion is meticulously maintaining both her VRBO properties and providing a quality, comfortable place for Guests to relax and enjoy!

Colette purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Colette chose Fairplay

The privacy and the slower pace were the main reasons I bought this cabin a few minutes out of Fairplay. The 3.7 acres offer the privacy of the surrounding aspen grove with large meadow area to stroll and admire the views. We also enjoy the close proximity to several hiking opportunites, world class skiing, fishing & boating reservoirs, Nat'l Forest areas, etc. They are close enough, yet not so close as to make Fairplay a congested tourist trap.

What makes this cabin unique

You will find our cabin very relaxing and accommodating. I have furnished it with mountain home decor and made it comfortable for us, as well as our Guests. There are ample sheets for the sofa bed & futon and extra blankets. The kitchen is stocked with just about everything you will need for your vacation. I encourage Guests to recommend any items currently not provided, that would make their stay more comfortable. We want you to feel at home :-)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Colette,

We had a GREAT time at your Cabin. The cabin was even nicer than we expected and we found plenty of trails to hike and things to do in the area. My son caught his first fish ( a rainbow trout) and was very, very excited. When we went back to Colorado Springs for a couple of days, the kids agreed that we should have stayed up at the cabin instead of coming to the city. I have already recommended your cabin to a friend. Thanks for working with us on the Pay-pal issue.

Absolutely beautiful location with updated and updated cabin with country feel.

  • 4 of 5

Plenty of open space on the property and loved the long driveway lined with Aspens. Just beautiful. Cabin has all needed amenities with nice woodsy feel. One of the attractions for me was having a jacuzzi to relax and unwind which was nice. But two significant detractions for the property was actually due to the jacuzzi. First, the jacuzzi sits right outside the master bedroom and due to filtering system runs on and off. It is really LOUD and a huge distraction from the quiet location. I was really frustrated with this and woke up regularly as it cycled on and off. Secondly, and be very careful with this, the front door will lock itself if you are not careful. This happened to me I did not remember the door code, my phone was inside and I was locked out. Pretty bad situation to be in as remote as this property is.

If you look at detailed information in the instructions the owner will send you there is a reference there but I strongly suggest the owner post a note by the front door as a caution. Just a suggestion. As it turned out my son luckily had his cell phone and I was able to log into email to find the door code. But literally we were faced with having to break a window.

Outside of the jacuzzi situation we really loved our stay and would go back given the jacuzzi noise was addressed. I would not stay again under the same noisy conditions.

Perfect getaway cabin for our anniversary!!!

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect. Secluded but not too far away from town. Everything we needed and more. Best stocked VRBO we have ever done. I love to cook and this kitchen had all the supplies we needed and agree with others the store in town had all the food we needed. So quiet and relaxing! Was a quick drive to hiking and to Breck! My husband loved the fishing pond while I laid on the side and read in the grass. The hot tub was so relaxing and was great with the cold afternoon rain. Couldn’t have planned this better if we tried!!!

August in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Having spent a month in this cabin, I can honestly say it is like a second home to us. We have spent several Augusts there in the past, but this one was more appreciated after not being there last year due to health reasons. It is comfortable, secluded among aspen trees, and accommodating in every way possible. We have already begun to plan for next August at this lovely cabin.

Amazing cabin and location

  • 5 of 5

This property is fantastic. Very secluded in a nice bunch of aspen trees, and only a short walk to open fields and hiking trails. Super easy and convenient to get to town and the grocery store, and Buena Vista and all their activities is a short drive. The cabin was clean and has everything that you could need or want. I stayed there with my two brothers for our annual "bro trip," and it was perfect. We usually do something different every summer, but we could easily go back there again.

Fairplay location

  • 4 of 5

If you need to be in Fairplay, this is an ideal location. It is fairly close to town and not difficult to find. Located in the middle of an Aspen grove the view out of every window is beautiful. Everything is as described in the property information.
