Each electric heater has controls to adjust the temperature on the individual heater (no thermostat). For those comfortable using a wood-burning stove are welcome to use it for ambiance. Wood is provided in the rear of the cabin in the wood stack. Guests are welcome to bring their own wood as well. Instructions on how to safely use the wood stove are in the binder.
NOTE - WINTER MONTHS (Dec. 1 - March 31) may require an ATV/Snowmobile to access the cabin. Due to winter conditions, we are limiting rentals to those who trailer their own 4x4 ATVs, Side by Side, or snowmobiles OR we will ask you to use our side by side (Gator) at no charge. A waiver detailing the Gator usage will be sent for the guest's signature.
There is a 3/4 mile of switchbacks up to the cabin and snow/ice conditions make the cabin road unsafe for trucks and SUVs. We have a flat area at the base of the mountain to park a truck and utility trailer. The Potter County Snowmobile Club is about 1.3 miles away. Local county roads are designated ATV/Snowmobile roads. Contact us if you have questions.

WINTER months in Potter County! This area is widely considered one of the best counties to snowmobile in all of PA. Access miles of groomed & ungroomed trails (depending on experience level) at the Potter County Snowmobile Club located 1.3 miles up the street from our cabin. Checkout the trail map in the photo gallery.

We look forward to sharing our cabin with you!

Moonlit Cabin is Adorable
The cabin is well-crafted and so homey, especially when the wood-fired stove is burning. We lit the stove as soon as we got there, as it was very cold inside the cabin when we arrived. The outside fire pit was also appreciated, as the weather was warm enough to enjoy some outdoor time. There is an ample supply of wood. The spiral staircase that leads to the bedroom was a little tricky to navigate. We were worried that our elderly dog would take a tumble down the stairs to the basement, so we had to block off the area around the stairs with some chairs. Although we planned this visit to see the stars, unfortunately, it was cloudy while we were there. However, I can understand that this must be a beautiful spot to sit and watch the skies. There are trails around the cabin that we were able to walk, which was nice. If you have a quad, I’m sure it’d be a lot of fun to use them here. The driveway leading to the house has some switchbacks, which we were able to navigate with my husband‘s truck, but it was a little dicey as it was very muddy when we visited. There was also quite a bit of food left in the refrigerator and freezer, which was surprising. Overall, this is a good place to visit and the surrounding area has several beautiful parks. If you’re able to see the skies on a clear night, enjoy!

Great place to get away
Cabin was awesome. Nice place to sit outside and just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Richard was easy to communicate with and left an info binder to make stay even easier. Already booked again in a few months.

Magical Little Place
The cabin and town are not large and the staircase could be difficult to handle if you’re unsure of foot. But I cannot recommend Moonlit Cabin enough! It was beautiful, cozy, and well maintained. There are a number of incredible sights to see nearby such as: The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Cherry Springs: dark sky preserve Allegheny National Forest And many others, and not to mention Niagara Fall being a good day trip away. Everything about the cabin and its hilltop was just charming and felt miles and miles from anything despite town being just a 10 minute drive. My wife and I loved it and hope to return someday!
