About Mike Olson

Mike and Renee Olson. They met in OBX during our college summer breaks 1987 - 1993. Mike was a Ocean Rescue Lifeguard for Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head Ocean Rescue. Renee worked at Capt'n Franks and Birthday Suits. They have two children Meganne and Max. They enjoy the Outer Banks and know it very well. They thought this house would be perfect because it's not too big and is the perfect size for one or two families. The price is very reasonable for all you get.

When we decided to purchase our second rental home the perfect location was a priority to us. Having everything you need close by and not have to fight traffic is important so you can settle in fast and start enjoying your vacation. Restaurants, beach, shopping, fishing, is all in walking distant from the house. Also, having the longest and first cement pier with a aquarium across the street is EXCITING!

What makes this house unique

The sunsets over looking the sound are incredible you must have your camera ready! Walking out 1000' on Jennette's pier!

I didn't get the chance to write in the guest book but wanted to thank you so much for opening your home to us! We had a wonderful time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The location was amazing - the pier was a huge hit with our little one. The surf kayaking was fun to watch too! It was the first time we had ever been to Sam n Omie's and we ate there for breakfast almost every day. They were so understanding of the fact that we had a toddler! That house could not be in a better spot. So close to so much!!!!

This house really has the location location location!!

We have stayed at OBX Life a few times and this is our first time we left a review and its long over due! This house is our favorite out of other houses we have stayed at mainly because of the location. A quick walk to the beach, convenience store, and restaurants. In the evening we like to walk the pier and see what they are catching. A few days it was too windy to hang out on the beach so we enjoyed the pool. Our kids love the Dune Burger and there shakes! The house is well maintained and the owner Mike is very good at communicating with us if we have any questions. We highly recommend you stay here....Just do not pick our week!!

Convenient, Cozy, Comfortable and just right for our family's time of need.

During a difficult time in our lives, my two sons and I took a huge step and followed through with our annual, summer, family vacation to the OBX. This was a first for us without my husband and their dad, who suddenly passed away in March. It was important for us to carry on our family tradition and OBX Life II was the perfect place for our healing to begin.

The pool was refreshing and the sunset view from the back deck was comforting after the end of the day. There were a few hiccups with cable service which the owner, Mike followed up and followed through with to ensure those issues were resolved during our stay. He was very kind and great to work with from beginning to end. The owner of his cleaning company, Laurie, also stopped by to make sure we had everything we need and address any questions or concerns we had.

We weren't too excited about the neighbors who stayed out in the backyard at the grill next door and their use of "language", right outside my sons' bedroom windows, into the early hours of the night or the local establishments' dumpster trucks emptying their dumpsters at 4 am., but it wasn't anything we couldn't deal with, especially considereing the increased activity during the holiday season. Everything else we needed was conveient and right at our front door, including a quick walk to the beach, restaurants, convenient stores, grocery and shopping, and well made up for those few issues.

We highly recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a convenient location with everything a family needs for a relaxing and memorable vacation in the OBX.

Great place to stay!

I stayed in "Stay at OBX Life II" April 27th-April 29th. The cottage is in a perfect location being very close to the beach and next to several restaurants including Sam and Omie's. The cottage was very clean and felt like home! It had every amenity that we could ask for! I would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a place to stay!

Great Stay and location in the Outer Banks

My family stayed at the OBXLife ll for Spring Break week April 2017. The rental is approximately in the middle of the Outer Banks which our mission was to sightsee and take adventures. We drove one way to Corolla and then drove the other way to Cape Hatteras. We tried to get to Ocracoke Island but the Ferry was a 4 hour wait. (would recommend to try to get there very early 6 or 7am try to get ticket before you go if possible, Ferry schedule online). Both area are approx. an hour drive from the rental. If you go on the Ferry it is another hour. Went to Manteo 1 day as well (10 minutes from rental), a lot to do and see there too. The beach is across the street and a five minute walk with Jeanette's Pier right there. We, also, brought our bikes and biking all over Nags Head is very easy. Outlets are 10 min. Walk or 5 min. Bike ride, you can see them from the back of the rental. The rental was very comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay. The owner, Mike, was very helpful and easy to work with. I would definitely stay there again.

A great rental at the beach.

We are repeat renters with nothing but good things to say about our experiences. The owner is excellent to deal with, the location of the house is perfect with the beach right across the street and shopping and restaurants close by, and the house itself has everything that you need for an enjoyable stay. The owner takes pride in his property and it shows.

Relaxing and Stress Free Stay

With this being our first experience at renting a house for a short vacation (as opposed to the usual hotel experience), we were a little anxious. Needless to say, our anxiousness turned to relaxation in short order. Eveything turned out as advertised. The house was clean and well maintained. The information we received from the owner Mike, was easy to follow. We didn't encounter any issues with the house during our visit. The location was great, being maybe a minutes walk to the beach. Additionally, everything we needed during our stay was within a short walking or driving distance. The main purpose of our visit was to rest from the hustle and bustle of work during the New Years holiday week, so being here in the off-season was ideal. We would highly recommend this property to others and hope to make this trip an anuual retreat for our family!

WOW our house has so much to do in surrounding area. Whale Bone Park is next door with play equipment, volley ball, horseshoes!!

The amusement park, and go cart track, Adventure climbing park is only two miles away! Grab lunch at the Dune Burger next door. Dinner at Sam N Omies. Followed by dessert at Fat Boy's Ice cream. After all that eating take a walk out on the 1000' foot long Jeannette's Pier. Or try your luck at catching your next meal from the pier.

Feel like cooking in? Just walk to Cahoo's Grocery store they have cheese's, wines, meats, and of course your basic grocery foods. Need ice or a coffee? 7/11 is across the street. Walking/running and bike trails that go for miles in either directions right across the street. if you like to shop.... Tanger Outlet mall one mile away!!

This house has it all...... so park your car and relax!
