About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 12-17) Pontoon Rental

Come up north with your family to the scenic Minnesota woodlands and enjoy 'Iron Ridge', our private log home, beach, and dock on the peaceful shores of Wynne Lake. Easy to find and most convenient of the vacation rental homes, we are on the same side of the lake and just one mile down the road from Giants Ridge Ski Resort and the renown Quarry and Legends Golf Courses. 'Iron Ridge' is a custom home built with massive red pine logs and situated on a spacious wooded lot with private lakeshore and dock. A large secure garage and extensive paved driveway provide plenty of safe, off-road parking for all types of vehicles, trailers or campers.

The main level features a well equipped kitchen with everything you'll need (dishwasher, microwave, crock-pot, blender, etc). The dining area (with large table and center island), living room with fieldstone fireplace), and wrap-around covered deck all provide gorgeous views of the lake. Both main level bedrooms boast comfortable King size beds, and the main bathroom has a shower and jacuzzi (jetted) tub. The living room sofa pulls out to a queen sleeper.

The lower level is the perfect place for entertaining and family fun. It features a wet bar/kitchen area with sink, refrigerator, large counter/bar with stools and 2 pub tables. From here, walk out to the patio area which overlooks and is only steps from the lake. The patio highlights a large outdoor Hot Tub, patio furniture for dining, sunning or lounging, gas grill, and log porch swing. Step back inside and just down the hallway you'll find a full bathroom complete with a shower, changing room and cedar sauna. Also down this hallway is a utility room with washer, dryer, and iron.

Both downstairs bedrooms are equipped with bunk beds: one with 2 full beds (full over full bunk), and one with 4 twin beds ( 2 twin over twin bunks). The lower level family room is great for relaxing. Along with a second fireplace, this room has a large TV complete with Sat/Dish TV, XBox 360, and DVD/VCR player. You'll also find books for all ages, board games, XBox games, and an extensive DVD collection. The Queen sofa sleeper and futon provide additional sleep accommodations.

Why The Owner chose Northeast

We purchased this home with the goal of living in it full-time after retirement. It is a beautiful home in a perfect setting and we absolutely love the Giant's Ridge area. The area provides a great location for every outdoor activity possible for all seasons. it is remote and yet still only an hour away from the city of Duluth and everything it offers.

What makes this house unique

Our home provides many extras and amenities you won't find at the others. Why rent when you can enjoy free use of our kayak, canoe, bicycles, and snowshoes. We also offer free WI-FI. We warmly invite you to discover the beauty of Iron Ridge. If you value privacy and the comforts that only a home can offer, give us a call and reserve your getaway now!

Guestbook comments from the owner

The beautifulness of everything here ( lake, forest etc.) fishing and just hanging out with family. Oh & pictionary :) This place was absolutely positively stellar and I would love to come back. You also had everything in the cabin that anyone would ever need. Thank you. AC

What a very relaxing place. This is what we needed. The house is very pretty and inviting. We are already planning our next trip here. Thank you for opening up your home to our family.

Worth Every Penny!

  • 5 of 5

We needed a get-a-way before starting a new job (after 16 years in the corporate world). We needed a place where we could relax and reconnect, somewhere quiet, with some nature/hiking trails, and able to accommodate/occupy a 2.5-yr old and our family dog, Ginger. To say this place did the trick would be an understatement. The setting, the near-by amenities, the on-site amenities, the owners - all met our every need. Oh, and that hottub!! We could have easily stayed several more days and will plan to do so next time! This was easily worth every penny!

Great family vacation home

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 14 stayed for a week & were impressed with the clean & beautiful log home. The kids loved the swim pad & the included canoe, paddle boat. No sand beach, but skipping rocks & looking for froggies & minnows was entertaining. Beautiful lake, but we were unable to catch a fish. The pontoon we rented from the owner had mechanical problems, but he gave us a replacement & refunded the rental fees for the days we lost. We spent most of our time outdoors & used the fire pit most evenings. I would highly recommend this vrbo lake home.

Beautiful home, no internet

  • 3 of 5

We spent a week in this lovely log home. We greatly enjoyed the canoe and kayak provided by the owner. The Mesabi Bike Trail is wonderful! We have one negative; the rental home description stated that internet was included. We did not have internet access. We called the owner to report this. He did call back after some time to say that we should have internet. My husband is quite tech savvy and reset the router as the book instructed us to do, but still no internet. After we had been home for half a week the owner called to "apologize" that we did not have internet access during our week of vacation. Apparently a lightning strike had taken out the satellite dish. I felt like the owner could have offered a small refund but he did not do so. There were a few small maintenance issues that were annoying, like the main bath shower/tub had an incredibly slow drain time and the stove had burners that didn't work. We have had better experiences with our other VRBO homes.

Owner's Response: Laurie, I'm sorry about the internet. They have changed out the antenna. And the knob on the stove has been replaced. I'm sorry for inconvenience.

Great place to stay for a golf weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We booked the house for a golf trip to Giants Ridge. Every morning we sat on the deck drinking coffee and watching the steam come off the lake before we headed to the course. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a place to stay while in the Giants Ridge area.

Honeymoon Must

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to honeymoon in Northern Minnesota. We came across this rental and thought it was beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a better owner to work with- he was very understanding and quick to respond to any quesions. We arrived on a Thursday and stayed through Sunday. The house is amazing. The lake is beautiful. The town is quiet. We couldn't have asked for more. We spent a day in Ely, a day out on the canoe and the rest of our time hanging out around the house with our lab. I would highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!
