Fully modernized historic log cabin near Giants Ridge
This 18x32 hand-hewn log cabin was dismantled and moved from a neighboring farmstead to the Green Gate property in 2016. We added an upper floor, super-insulated shell and a rustic exterior of weathered, circle-sawn planking and rusty metal roofing. The mix of log construction, custom metalwork, and "hand-crafted everything" create a truly breathtaking architectural experience.
An open-concept main floor provides ample space for cooking and lounging and features a large custom kitchen and slab wood dining table, log walls, large picture windows with forest views, in-floor heat, A/C, and of course a beautiful woodstove for those chilly winter days.
The upper floor includes a laundry center and two master bedrooms, complete with queen beds, vintage furnishings, circle-sawn oak flooring, vaulted lodgepole ceilings, and bathrooms adorned with custom slate tilework and hand-crafted cabinetry.
in the warmer months, guests enjoy the wrap-around porch and screen enclosure for bug-free lounging, or swinging in hammocks under the towering pines.

I am a degreed professional with a variety of passions and interests. In addition to an engineering career, I have worked in the natural foods industry (various roles over several years at a food co-op), nutritional counseling, and residential construction and interior design. For the past several years, I have been dedicated to the design/build of Green Gate Guest Houses- 10 unique lodging options within the Giants Ridge Recreation Area.
I have a passion for all areas of construction, design, technology, sustainable living, renewable energy, etc., and enjoy putting ideas into action through the myriad of projects I always have going!
I enjoy nature, outdoors, exercise (running, hiking, cycling, skiing, etc), as well as the culture and arts of the city. I've traveled domestically and internationally, and value the insight gained from experiencing new cultures. I often bring back design ideas that are eventually incorporated into various projects around the property. Looking forward to some time in Scandinavia next.

I like the tradition Finnish hand hewn cabins. This is the second restoration I have completed and is the larger of the two. The unique craftsman-style trim elements give a simple elegance to the otherwise rugged feel of the logs. Combined with all the creature comforts of a modern home, this is a space you will sink in to and not want to leave!

You will likely never see a log home renovation quite like this one. Being right next to nature and Giants Ridge Resort for Skiing, cycling, golf, hiking and water sports is the icing on the cake!
