The Beach below your Balcony - the Ultimate Beach Get-Away!

Bedrooms 3

Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

Beachfront House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Right on the water this beautiful three bedroom home, with renovated kitchen, has natural light and a view of the largest beach in Delaware from nearly every room of the house. Enjoy large upper and lower decks and the luxury of a nearly private beach. Secluded yet twenty minutes from everything you could want to make your vacation perfect.

Romantic getaway or family fun!

This lovely home sits on a beautiful beach that feels all but private. Across the street is the Prime Hook Nature Reserve with eagles, osprey and other birds of interest. You can enjoy the sun rising over the Atlantic with coffee in the morning-you’ll probably see Dolphins swimming close to shore-and cocktails in the evening as you marvel at exquisite sunsets over Prime Hook. It’s perfect for couples wanting a romantic getaway or three generational families having a yearly reunion. The beach is ideal for young children because the Bay waves are gentle and calm.

The kicker is that while you have all the privacy you want, within 10-20 minutes you can:

• Shop at designer outlets

• Play 18 holes at a challenging local golf course

• Body surf on the waves at Cape Henlopen

• Dine at great restaurants in Lewes and Rehobeth

• Take the Lewes Ferry to Cape May, New Jersey

• Enjoy the nightlife and boardwalk of Rehoboth

A quaint little neighborhood store sells sandwiches, basic supplies and fishing equipment for surf fishing right out your door and on weekends they make fabulous home-made donuts. Fifteen minutes away is the little gem of a town called Lewes (the natives pronounce it Lewis) with several great restaurants both formal and informal, antiques, art and “new-agey” chachkas.

Why not rent the place for a month while you finish your novel? We have Wi-Fi for surfing the web and cable TV and DVD players. Bring your kayak and put in on the bay. Walk the beach for miles in both directions and explore a mysterious shipwreck-you can see it with your binoculars from the deck-that baffles even the local historians as to its identity.

The house itself has three bedrooms upstairs and a queen size sleep sofa in the living room on the main level. Master bedroom is spacious with vaulted ceilings, separate bath, king bed and wonderful reading porch with great views and windows that open for hearing the waves. The other two bedrooms each have queens and single beds with trundles so that you could sleep 3 or four in each. When you turn in at night crack the windows just enough to hear the waves as you fall asleep and again when you awaken the next morning.

Come once and you’ll want to return year after year. This place has it all!!!

Why Lori Rieckelman chose Delaware

Broadkill offers a beautiful, peaceful, private beach surrounded by a wildlife refuge. Our beach house has the most wonderful views. The house is full of light and is spacious and comfortable. We are close to Lewes which offers fabulous restaurants and shops. Plus we are 5 minutes away from a 18 hole golf course.

What makes this house unique

Right on the water. Peace and quiet, natural beauty, views of the water, stargazing, bird watching, walks on the beach, beautiful sunsets and sunrises. An 8 minute drive through a nature preserve to get you to the house gives you the ultimate escape.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a beautiful place this is! The beach is spectacular and the house is comfortable and inviting. Some of our favorite things to do: Walk on the beach-morning and afternoon. Sitting on the deck reading and watching the ships and sharing meals in the kitchen.

We hope to come back again. It was a very relaxing visit!

Another Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd time vacationing at the beach house - this time for 2 weeks. There were 4 adults and 3 children, with 2 additional adults joining us for a few days. We had fun participating in the 4th of July parade on July 1 by decorating and riding bikes on the parade route which ran the entire length of Bayshore Drive. What a patriotic home town feel - lots of flags and red, white, and blue. Of course, we also enjoyed the home made donuts at the Broadkill store! The house provides plenty of room for both family and "alone" time. We never got tired of the beach views from every room in the house. Everything you need for cooking can be found in the kitchen. Eating steamed crabs on the deck was a special treat . One of our favorite things about staying at Broadkill is being able to have bonfires on the beach - always fun and the kids look forward to s'mores!! The weather was perfect and the bay water warm. Some family members always enjoy the fishing from the beach. Another vacation with fond memories :)

A Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our time at Broadkill Beach was fabulous! The house was wonderful and the layout was great for our family. It was so amazing to walk in and see the beautiful view. We lived in the sunroom at night - so nice to open the windows and enjoy the sound of the waves without all the bugs. We essentially had the gorgeous beach to ourselves the entire stay. Lori was wonderful to work with and so responsive to any questions we had. We had never been to the area before and completely fell in love. It is so quiet and private but yet so close to plenty of wonderful restaurants and activities. It was so special to spend the week here with our family. Our kids loved all the horseshoe crabs and having bonfires on the beach. Even the waves were the perfect size for them! We were so sad to leave when our week was over. I hope we will be able to go back very soon!

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

The house and location were absolutely perfect for a respite by the sea. We arrived in time to see the horseshoe crabs performing their yearly ritual and learned more about them than I ever knew. We saw dolphins in the water and after the storm, their was a shark and a stingray washed up on the beach. The sound of the waves at night was amazing and I slept like a baby on the wonderful king sized bed. We had rain for a few days and where able to go into Rehoboth to shop at the Tanger outlets. We hit up the best creole restaurant just a few miles away and enjoyed a great local restaurant with great breakfasts. I do not want to take anything away from the great time we had but the living room furniture was quite uncomfortable and could use a good cleaning. The lights in the master bedroom flickered quite badly and we had a difficult time opening and closing the sliding glass doors. I wouldn't recommend the house for people who have difficulty walking as there are at least 15 steps to get into the house and another flight to get to the bedroom. Even with the few caveats I would highly recommend this beautiful house.

Perfect Beachfront Vacation

  • 5 of 5

There is no need to travel to North Carolina to rent a house on the beach - this house on Broadkill Beach is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation close to home (Baltimore area). The house is spacious enough to allow families (we had 4 adults and 3 children) plenty of room to enjoy time together and the sunrooms off the living room and master bedroom allow for some "quiet alone time" for reading or watching TV in the upstairs den. We enjoyed using the grill and eating on the deck. The kitchen is well equipped - you don't need to bring anything. Views from every room are spectacular. A solar lighted walkway leads right to the uncrowded beach. The bay was warmer than you would find in the ocean and the waves and undertow were a bit more calm. We caught sharks, stingrays, and croakers. Dolphins appeared one morning. The Broadkill store is so quaint - has food, ice cream, novelties, and great home-made donuts. The outlets in Rehobeth are only about 20 minutes away if you are in the mood to shop. Bring your bike! If you prefer to vacation away from the crowds and traffic of nearby ocean resorts, Broadkill is a perfect option for you. The owner, Lori, was very easy to work with and was helpful answering questions. We hope to return to this house soon !

"Thanks mom for booking this place!!!" Those were the first words spoken from our 12 year old's mouth upon our arrival. From Horseshoe Crabs to Sand Sharks to Stingrays to Dolphins, Broadkill beach had it all. What a great week for our family to celebrate a special birthday away from home. The cool nights were perfect for open windows to hear the waves put us to sleep...and we had the best sleep ever!! Morning runs on the beach and on the safe and quiet road in were great, the people were friendly and the donuts at the Broadkill store were fresh and consumed quickly. The house had everything that we needed and the beach was so close that we were spoiled all week. Lori was fabulous to rent from, answering my strange questions and helping me with everything that I needed. Thanks again, we will be back.

Peace and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

One word: Relaxation. My entire family had the most amazing week at your house. My mother, my two young boys (2 and 5), and even our teenager found something to consume their every waking minute. Despite the icky weather, the kids still found time to chase after the horseshoe crabs, swim in the bay and kayak, whilst the adults read, imbibed and enjoyed the tranquility and peace that comes with being on vacation. The only thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable … bringing along our canine companion. :( Thank you. We look forward to next summer.
