Prime Hook Retreat is a spacious four bedroom two bathroom house that sits directly on the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge. The house is open and bright with views of the Refuge from the second story living room, balcony, and all four bedrooms. From the front of the house, enjoy the view of the Delaware Bay in the fully enclosed sun room.

This house has plenty of space to spread out! The large sunroom has comfortable couches to enjoy the view of the bay or an afternoon nap. A game table with an assortment of board games and puzzles for fun with family or friends. Or just sit back in one of the chairs and read a good book. The living room has a beautiful view of the marsh with plenty of seating to socialize or watch a movie. Seat the whole family at the large dining table for dinner or games. Or if you like, enjoy that meal on the front patio under the sunroom.

A laundry and full bathroom are on the ground level along with an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach.

Located in the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge, this quiet community is away from the hustle and bustle of crowds and traffic. Enjoy the wildlife, star filled night sky, and wide open sandy beach.

Get the best of all that Prime Hook Has to offer from this house sitting directly on the wildlife refuge and beach access directly across the street. Watch the sun rise over the bay and set across the marsh.


Only 2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC, and 25 - 30 minutes to the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, beautiful ocean front Cape Henlopen state park, and historic Lewes. Outlet shopping, fabulous restaurants, and amusements are all a short drive away.

Sleeps 8 (or more with owner approval) people on two full beds, 1 queen, and two singles. Linens and towels included.

This is a pet friendly house allowing one pet with additional cleaning fee. Additional pets may be allowed with owner approval.

The hosts were great, the place was very clean, the location was great. We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend there. The only surprise was that the second bathroom was not located on the "living floor" where all 4 bedrooms are located, but on the lower level. With 6 people, this was not very convenient.

A very clean, spacious, and well designed home in a beautiful location featuring lovely views of both the nature preserve and Delaware bay. Great communication with owners and easy check in process. Can't wait to visit again!

Prime Hook was bright and clean with a great quiet location. Short walk to beach. Short drive to Tanger outlets and antique shops. Overall it was THE PERFECT spot for our girls weekend

Came for a nice relaxing weekend and got just that. The house is a convenient short walk across the street from the beach. We had 2 really windy days which actually helped with the mosquitoes. The beach was covered in seaweed, which was a slight bummer but was still pleasant for walks with our dog. The neighborhood is peaceful and people were friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Great house! The AC was cool when the heat and humidity were too much. Very comfortable and spacious house! Everyone had room to spread out. We had extended family over for dinner and game night and we had plenty of room. The yard was nice for the dogs. The beach was very close. The sunsets off the back balcony were beautiful!! We love PHB!! It’s so relaxing and quiet. The biggest problem we found were the bugs…. They were terrible- the worst we have seen. We were glad to have such a comfortable house to hang out in. We hope to return!!

Property was away from the crowd. Quite. The large sunroom was our favorite place. Beach was across the road. Make sure to have bug spray, they were bad.

Utterly magical

What a spectacular stay! The location could not be more gorgeous. We walked back and forth to the beach dozens of times a day (very helpful when you’re traveling with a toddler and a bigger group!) and adored the bird watching and nearby trails. We took advantage of the beach toys, and the wonderful selection of games, and made family meals in the kitchen. We did end up having to drive into town for some supplies (they were out of cooking oil, laundry detergent, and the grill lighter was out of lighter fluid), but we didn’t mind—just want to make sure everyone knows to bring what you need. A few of our party have bad backs and struggled some with the pillows and mattresses, but we loved the place so much we’d come back even with the achey backs. Watching the sun set over the marshes from the little balcony, and the sun rise from the sun room on the plush, comfy couches more than made up for it. A perfect home for a family vacation.

Off season getaway

Slice of heaven!

Such a beautiful spot between the wildlife refuge and the Bay! Very comfortable house with everything we needed, spectacular sunsets and quick walk across the quiet road to the beach. Owners were responsive and helpful. So nice to be able to have our dog with us. We’ve stayed in several houses on this stretch of Prime Hook and this was our favorite.

Spacious House DIRECTLY Across from the Ocean

This place was an absolute delight for the week that the family and I stayed here. Everything was open and spacious, nothing felt cramped, and everyone had room to chill. The kids loved being able to play in the sun room, in the basement, or just hang out in their own room in between trips out to eat or beach visits. The kitchen was equipped enough for what we needed and the dining area was great for the kids breakfast and lunches. The walk to the beach is short and sweet, just right across the road. Plenty of place to setup there where you aren't directly in front of another houses property, and no coral or anything else intrusive in your way when going for a swim. We would 100% book this house again :)

Keep prime hook a secret!

Everything about this stay was ideal. Nice kitchen. Two bathrooms. Plenty of dining room and living room space. The little balcony off the back was a great place to enjoy AM coffee. Beautiful enclosed upstairs deck looking toward the ocean. A charcoal grill was great! Closets in every bedroom. BYO beach chairs - sunbrellas provided

Fun, family stay at the beach

The house was a great size and nicely laid out with many open spaces for all of us. We loved the sun room and spent a lot of time there working on puzzles and playing games and just relaxing. It also had all the tools and items we needed for daily use. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Dream vacation

Fantastic week ! House and grounds very clean well maintained. Owner very helpful and nice ! Had great time on the beach kayaking , fishing and swimming . Highly recommend this house for a stress free time . 10 out of 10 review!
