About Thomas Urquhart/Amy MacDonald
I am a children's book writer, and wrote my first children's book while staying at Bearcamp (Little Beaver and the Echo)--inspired by the echo on the pond here. My parents built this place in 1955 and I have been coming here since i was very little. I learned my love of nature from summers spent here, swimming, canoeing and fishing on the pond. That picture of me is feeding one of the generations of tame chipmunks we've taught to eat from our hands. (That's why the no-pets policy!) My three kids and four grandchildren still love coming here. We live in Portland and it's an easy drive for us. We love to share it with

What makes this Cabin unique
You can forget about everything else going on in the world while you are here. I have done some of my most creative work here, as have many of my artist friends. It's a magical place for children as well.
