We very much enjoyed staying in this cozy cottage while my daughter participated in the WSRHA Reining Horse Show at the Montrose Event Center. It was close to our destination and very close to town, restaurants and grocery stores. It was very clean -the kitchen had what we needed to pack lunches and make several meals. We recommend this cozy home and we would love to stay again if it works out. Thank you so much for letting us stay.Kirsten and Lexy

Great convenient location on a quiet street.
Great place to relax at after long days in Black Canyon.
This was a lovely, simple, clean and quiet place to stay. My husband and I thought the location was great to explore the Black Canyon and area golf course.

Great little spot
The check in was a little confusing. Once I met the property manager the stay was fantastic. Very cute little place right in town. I’d definitely stay there again.
Cottage is conveniently locate in Montrose. Grocery store near by. The furnishings are dated but did have a cottage feel. I had everything I needed for my three day stay.

Thank you for taking the time to add a review. We inherited this little cottage that was already furnished so do plan on doing some updates in the future. 🙂
Extremely quiet neighborhood except for one night when the neighbor's dog was barking. Close to downtown. Small but perfect for a couple.

About the host
Hosted by Jeanett Marolf
My name is Jeanett Marolf and I grew up southwest of Montrose on Sanborn Park where my sister Nannette and I attended school in a one room school until I graduated 8th grade and went into Norwood to finish High School. I then went on to study graphic design in Denver. I have continued my career as a graphic designer as well as drawing, which I mostly do for fun. I am married and have one son and a daughter-in-law. After my mom, Ella passed away in 2024, it was her wish that I continue renting the little cottage as a short term vacation home. I now live in the Colorado Springs area but make frequent trips back to our ranch and to Montrose. Wes and Cissy, who live next door to the cottage have been a great help in assisting me when I can’t be there.
Why they chose this property
My parent's, Ella and Everett Marolf, completely restored this little house and my mom named it "Rose Haven Cottage". We have tried to make it a cheery space that is easy to care for. It is located in a quiet, older and established residential neighborhood with friendly neighbors. My mom planted all of the roses in front inviting guests to the property. The cottage has a tiny patio, It is cool in the evening and a great space to enjoy your morning coffee. Although tiny, it was created especially to be a home away from home for our guests. We have tried to make it a complete home on a small scale. We are sorry we could not squeeze in a washer and dryer into our tiny space, but there are Laundromats close by. We hope you will come and stay, and enjoy our beautiful area.
What makes this property unique
Rose Haven Cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, and is close to many of Montrose's attractions and businesses. You will find there is very little traffic on the quiet street. The hospital and Cancer Center are only 5 blocks away. It is only 8 blocks from downtown. The library, college and city pool are close by as well. There is one movie theater in town and you can step back in time with one of the few, local drive-in theaters (summer only) in the area. The cottage has hardwood floors and tile. Trash service is every Thursday. Trash bins are located beside the cottage near the patio (ours are the ones with the round lids) in the alley. The colorful towns of Telluride and Ouray and the scenic San Juan Mountains are just a short distance away. Day trips can be included to Black Canyon, Silverton, Durango and Mesa Verde, as well as the Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction. While in Ouray, enjoy their very own Hot Springs pool. Enjoy walking or biking along the designated neighborhood path. Montrose has many other trails around town too. There is wonderful mountain biking, and a club in town who organizes trips and a bike train on our block. You can stay in the winter to ski, go ice climbing, fishing and hiking or just sight seeing. Montrose also has a wonderful recreation center. There are golf courses nearby.
