About Kristen Walter
We are Illinois farmers and have 3 young children who love adventure. In our spare time we love to hike, fish, read, play games and relax as a family!
Kristen Walter purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Kristen Walter chose Castle Rock
The Driftless Area (an unglaciated corner of Southwest WI reminiscent of Upstate New York) is known for its scenic, wooded valleys, spring fed streams and rocky hilltops. It is a unique part of the country -- very different than much of the midwest -- and for those in the know, a special place to get away without having to go too far.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our cabin was purchased unfinished and in some disrepair in 2009. Thanks to my architect wife's keen eye, some elbow grease and a desire to create something special we remodeled our cabin into the luxurious hideaway we have today. We enjoy sharing our little slice of heaven with others who appreciate the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life. This is not a rustic cabin. While it is certainly off the beaten path, it is also modern, well-kept and luxuriously appointed. We appreciate guests who treat our cabin as their own home and have been very pleased to find that nearly all of our guests do so.
Sports & Adventure Activities
The perfect little place!
This cabin is exactly what we needed! We came to the area because my husband was turkey hunting. My 2 youngest children (7 & 4) and I came to get some much needed rest and relaxation. Boy, did this place check all of the boxes. The scenery is gorgeous - the views are breath taking! The cabin is spectacular! It literally had every single thing you would ever need! We even found the Morel Mushroom Festival in the nearby town of Muscoda! We were so sad to leave, but hope to be able to come back soon!! Thank you so much for allowing us to use your gorgeous space!
The cabin is well constructed and hidden away on a beautiful lot.
The cabin worked well for us, very clean, very comfortable. You covered all the details.
We enjoyed the warmer evenings sitting on the deck with an adult beverage.
Plan to rent again around the same time next year.
Thank you for making our stay enjoyable.
Peace. Love. Fish. sign at door says it all!
We have been to this section of Wisconsin a few times and am so happy to have found this rental home for our family. Husband and son enjoyed fly fishing and my daughter and I enjoyed relaxing in the cabin and on the deck. We will definitely be returning! The owners were very helpful and pleasant to work with. They have a well equipped “home away from home” cabin.
Beautiful scenic valley and great hiking. Great cabin, clean, modern, comfortable, everything you need.
"Idyllic setting in woods"
Such a beautiful cabin. Design and decor spot on. So comfortable for the two us, but would accommodate two couples with ease..
So peaceful sitting on expansive deck enjoying a few brews with tall handsome red oaks dropping their bounty around us. The cabin sits amidst beautiful tall oaks and other hardwood trees. So beautiful!!
We traveled to two Mississippi River state parks ( Wyalusing and Nelson Dewey ) Great views that provided us with fantastic photo opts. Visited Potosi brewery and beer museum. Very interesting with some good beers. Made our annual trek to New Glarus and Monroe. These communities are so enjoyable, with the New Glarus brewery 's spectacular setting and Monroe's charming town square. Not to be missed!! Three days spent @ cabin lounging and watching movies. So relaxing.
Thanks Kristen and Jamie for providing such a wonderful respite.
