About Kristen Walter

We are Illinois farmers and have 3 young children who love adventure. In our spare time we love to hike, fish, read, play games and relax as a family!

Kristen Walter purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Kristen Walter chose Wisconsin

The Driftless Area (an unglaciated corner of Southwest WI reminiscent of Upstate New York) is known for its scenic, wooded valleys, spring fed streams and rocky hilltops. It is a unique part of the country -- very different than much of the midwest -- and for those in the know, a special place to get away without having to go too far.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin was purchased unfinished and in some disrepair in 2009. Thanks to my architect wife's keen eye, some elbow grease and a desire to create something special we remodeled our cabin into the luxurious hideaway we have today. We enjoy sharing our little slice of heaven with others who appreciate the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life. This is not a rustic cabin. While it is certainly off the beaten path, it is also modern, well-kept and luxuriously appointed. We appreciate guests who treat our cabin as their own home and have been very pleased to find that nearly all of our guests do so.

Short, but sweet

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two nights. The cabin was really great. We climbed Castle Rock, which was fun because it was a bit more technical than I expected. Didn't catch any fish, but still had a great time.

  • 5 of 5

If you like being away from it all and just love nature then this is your place. Hiking, fishing, and just relaxing my friends and I just loved this overall experience. The cabin was well stocked with supplies and very neat and clean. I'm looking forward to go back

Pure Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful area. Within a hop skip and a jump you have a trout stream, camping area with access to a fire pit and plenty of land to go hiking, hunting and best of all Morel hunting. The Cabin was amazing... Inside and out... Great deck area to enjoy your morning coffee, inside is very clean and accommodating. We will definitely be back to relax, unwind, and enjoy the little things we all take for granted.

Thank you Jamie and Kristen for the experience

Wonderful cabin in great location

  • 5 of 5

I booked the cabin for a weekend getaway with some friends from Chicago and it was a perfect place to relax and enjoy this part of Wisconsin. On the first night we went for a hike in the forest just across the street and on the second day went canoeing on the Wisconsin river, which was just a 45 minute drive from here. The cabin is gorgeous, in addition to being both well kept and equipped.

Great family get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We had never been to this part of Wisconsin before and didn't really know what to expect, but we were so pleasantly surprised! The cabin was wonderful and just as described--super clean, very well appointed and private. Our 3 kids loved playing video games and watching movies! Our favorite part of the cabin was hanging out on the porch early in the morning before the kids were up...so peaceful. We went fishing down on the local river, tubing on the Wisconsin river, visited Taliesen and house on the rock, and enjoyed absolutely beautiful drives on the nearby country roads. We definitely recommend this home for some peaceful, fun and very special family time away! Thank you!!
