About this property

Large Home, Lovely Lake Views, Great Getaway

One of the larger Tahoma houses for rent on VRBO - a great value completely remodeled in 2010!

Our vacation home offers lovely views of the lake from the downstairs bedrooms, main living spaces, and the wrap-around deck. The house is quite large (2400 sq. ft.) and doesn't just sleep 14 but actually accommodates that many *comfortably,* thanks to a modern kitchen with island, large living area, 2.5 baths, and off-street parking. We remodeled in 2010 using top-quality materials, all new appliances and fixtures, and brand new beds, but preserved details such as the monumental fieldstone fireplace and our family stained glass.

The layout of the house is as follows:

1st floor: Two bedrooms each with two pairs of bunk beds and a double bed (so each is able to sleep six, nice for a single family or a bunch of tired skiers!), one full bath, a separate half bath, washer and dryer, wood storage (which we keep well supplied!), additional large closets and a spacious entryway, so plenty of room for boots, coats, and carriages.

2nd floor: Two more bedrooms, each with a double-size bed. Full bathroom. Lots of additional closets containing generous supplies. Fully outfitted gourmet kitchen with a large island, separate dining area including a very large dining table perfect for large family meals or big puzzles! Also on this level is a living space with very comfortable seating for a dozen, plus a big-screen TV with VCR, DVD, and cable. The living space leads to a huge wrap-around deck with marvelous views of mountains and lake.
All rooms have closets, so no shortage of storage.

Outside: From the front door, a covered entryway leading to a path to the stairs to the off-street parking. From the back door a small gravel path leading to a small quiet patio overlooking the lake. Lots of trees all around and only a couple of other houses in sight.

We offer high speed internet and get great mobile phone reception so no need to be out of touch...unless you want to be!

A short walk up the hill and you'll find yourself in the Desolation Wilderness, a National Forest that goes on forever. This means wonderful hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and mountain biking is available without having to get in a car! If you're looking at this posting then we probably don't have to tell you that Tahoma is near some of Tahoe's best skiing--Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are less than half an hour away, and Homewood, one of the West Shore's best kept secrets, is literally right next door--and outdoor activities in all seasons. Two wonderful state parks are just a bit further down Highway 89 (Sugar Pine Point and DL Bliss), both offering camping, beaches, wildlife, hiking, cross country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, etc. It's just 15 minutes to Tahoe City, with all it offers, too, and there are several really excellent shops and restaurants even nearer than that.

Any other issues? We want to make sure your stay is comfortable, so please let us know!

Good house for a large family
Pros: 1. Lots of beds! Two rooms down stairs are identical: 2 sets of bunk beds and 1 full bed. 2. Very clean bedding, sheets, pillows (no smells) 3. Upstairs has 4 couches, nicely spaced apart so our large family had plenty of space to spread out 4. Well-stocked kitchen for cooking meals 5. The view is gorgeous Cons: 1. The upstairs bathroom smells strongly of mildew. This also affects the towels in that room. The bathroom towels need a good hot wash with vinegar but it was very off putting to wash your face in a towel that smells like mildew. 2. Cleanliness was “rustic”. lots of dust under beds, random medicine cups under couch, weird brown stains on the walls on the stairwell. (But the beds did feel very clean) 3. There is no driveway and you must climb 2 flights of stairs to get to the front door. A little inconvenient with luggage and older people with bad knees or lots of little kids. 4. Found some strands of hair in the stack of towels. 5. There was no vacuum, and since the entire place is hardwood, you could feel all the little crumbs/dust that accumulate. It would be nice to have a little shark vacuum to tidy during our stay.

West Shore getaway
We had a great stay in Tahoma in August. The views from the house were beautiful, plenty of room for our group (four adults and four kids), and Kaya was very responsive when a small issue popped up. Easy access to Meeks Bay, Tahoe City, and lots of other great West Shore spots. Would love to stay again soon!

A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of Lake Tahoe
My recent stay at this VRBO in Lake Tahoe was an absolute delight. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was captivated by the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the glistening lake. The location was ideal, providing easy access to both outdoor adventures and nearby attractions. The interior of the VRBO was tastefully decorated, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The comfortable furnishings and thoughtful amenities made me feel right at home. Whether I was lounging by the fireplace after a day on the slopes or preparing a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, every aspect of the space was designed with the guest's comfort in mind. One of the highlights was the private outdoor deck where I could unwind while soaking in the picturesque sunset over the lake. The tranquility of the surroundings was truly therapeutic, making it the perfect spot for relaxation and rejuvenation. Moreover, the host's attention to detail and prompt communication enhanced the overall experience. They were quick to respond to any inquiries and provided helpful recommendations for local activities and dining options. In conclusion, my stay at this Lake Tahoe VRBO surpassed all expectations. The combination of a picturesque location, cozy accommodations, and exceptional hospitality made it an unforgettable getaway. I can't wait to return and create more cherished memories in this tranquil oasis. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable stay in Lake Tahoe.

Perfect for Tahoe Christmas family stay
The cloud 9 is an amazing place to stay with close proximity to Homewood ski resort and some local restaurants. Also, there is a market down the street. The house itself is kept in great shape and there is everything we need for the stay. Beds are comfy and the view of the lake is unbeatable. Would definitely recommend any family that is going up to Tahoe.

I'm a grandmother living near the Pacific coast in Marin. I and my husband, now deceased, bought this place over thirty years ago, and have been using it for our family vacations ever since. Unfortunately, I don't get up there as often as I used to, so decided to renovate the entire house to make it up-to-date for vacation renters such as yourself. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Why they chose this property

When we purchased this house many, many years ago the area was a lot less developed than it is now, and we appreciated the wildness of the surrounding area. Since then much new building has sprung up, but it's been our great luck that most of that building has taken place lower down, near the highway, so our views (which is what convinced us to make the purchase) to this day include hardly any other houses. Also, while the lakefront has been bought up and privatized along a lot of its length, we are near two major state parks, which guarantees that we can always enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in Tahoe.

What makes this property unique

My family has decades of happy memories associated with this place and that, combined with its upgraded comfort following last year's top-to-bottom renovation, keeps us very happy here. Our location near the top of the hill ensures peace and quiet, and, best of all, delivers spectacular views of the lake. Cloud 9 we call it, and with good reason.
