This 1927 historically designated home with ties to old Hollywood is located in the charming and classical hamlet area known as Kensington.
This beautiful 2 Bedroom 1 bath upstairs ensuite unit along with the downstairs family room is 1/2 of a private historic home in which the host resides. Your unit is secured with a locked door for your privacy.
We are a short drive to major attractions in the San Diego area and public transportation is quick easy walk from our home.
Your space is decorated with an eclectic style of antiques and artistic décor combining soothing colors alongside more recent art.
This unit is 1/2 half of a private home with it's own private entrance. A set of locked and insulated french wood doors, which you control, separates you from the main house for your privacy and independence.
Both sleeping quarters are upstairs with a large walk in closet adjoining the main bedroom. The bathroom has a spacious shower and is brightly light with plenty of sunlight.
The downstairs family room, in addition to it's seating area, has a dinnette table area where you can enjoy a meal or use as a work station. Coffee and tea is provided with sweets, apples and/or bananas when you first arrive. Amenities such as a coffee maker, electric tea pot, microwave, toaster, an induction cooktop and a refrigerator are provided. We do not serve breakfast and there is no kitchen. There is no laundry on premises.
WI-FI (High Speed Internet) is available everywhere and each room has a Smart TV with basic cable and Netflix.
There are games and Lego's for your enjoyment along with DVD's that are available for your use.
For your use, you have 2 outside spaces. A patio area with seating and a
bar-b-que and a garden area with 5 padded chairs under colorful lights and a propane fueled Fire Column (like a firepit but taller) for those mild and pleasant evenings to sit and relax with a glass of your favorite wine or one of the craft beers San Diego is becoming famous for.
If you planning to bring a 4 legged family member along, you will have to notify us in advance. We are dog friendly but do limit size and amount and therefore reserve the right to decline the reservation request based on this. We highly recommend that you inquire as to these limitations prior to booking.
Further, dogs need to be house-trained and non-digging. We ask that you oversee you pet and understand that our space outside is not fully secure nor intended for leaving your pet outside all day/night by themselves.
In keeping with rules and security, we do not accept bookings for 3rd parties, meaning, if you want to book for a family member, please, have them create an account and have them book the space directly.
Guest access
Although we rarely use the outdoor space when guests stay with us we do have a very friendly small indoor dog and we go out throughout the day/evening with him into the garden area but always make sure that we are not interfering with your use of that area. We also have a small office at the end of the patio in the garage. The driveway is for the guests use and we request that you park in the driveway. But please, don't back into the driveway. Although we are sure you can do it, it is not a convenient thing to do and we request that you simply pull in.
The kitchen in the other half of the home, the attics and the space under the stairs are not accessible to guests.
Other things to note
We try to be eco-friendly as much as possible and request that all lights be turned off when leaving the premises and that the air conditioner upstairs be set no lower than 72 and be turned off when you plan to leave for an extended period of time. The installed smart Ecobee thermostat which is motion sensitive will help in this.
The family room downstairs has a mini-split air conditioner which heats and cools the downstairs separately than the upstairs. Therefore we ask our guests to make sure that the glass door upstairs remains closed. And as with the upstairs unit, please try not to lower the temperature below 72 for cooling.
The dual paned double hung windows have up and down shades to give the most options for fresh air and privacy. There is a large overhead fan downstairs which will help cool the room down if you don't want the air conditioning.
There are outdoor security cameras as an added form security for us and our guests although we have never experienced any problems that required the need for them.
In keeping with rules and security, we do not accept bookings for 3rd parties. Meaning, if you want to book for a family member, please, have them create an account and have them book the space directly. You of course can pay if that is something you want to do.

Finally, for clarification, the cleaning fee charged is not for cleaning service during your stay but rather it is for the unit to be cleaned prior to and after your stay.

We enjoy travelling very much and throughout the years have found things that we wish were available when we are on the road. Little things like coffee/tea some snacks so that we don't have to shop for food the very moment we arrive. We try to provide our guests that simple little amenity.
Our unit is decorated with items not simply bought for a rental but come from our own home so that we can provide a more homelike experience for our guests.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad
We have a private garden area in the back and a side yard for your use and the in residence hummingbirds always make themselves known. TV's in each room so you can have time to yourself if travelling with family or friends and need a break.
