Great, Good and Bad

The location for the unit is Great.

The condo layout is Good. I liked being next to the stairs that no one used.

Moving to the items that need some addressing.

The condo needs some TLC. Paint and Cabinets in the kitchen need some work. Curtains are needed for early morning in the Master and nights in the other bedrooms. The thin blinds and curtains do not do the trick. Pillows and Beds need some attention. The most of the beds are hard and one has a spring that hits you in the back. The pillows are flat and well used.

If these TLC areas (and a few more) were addressed - this condo would easily be a 5-Star.

FOR THE PRICE THAT WAS PAID FOR THIS UNIT FOR THE WEEK, WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED. AFTER A 12 HOUR DRIVE, WE WERE GETTING SETTLED IN AND MY 86 Y.O. GRANDMOTHER WENT TO BED ONLY TO HAVE THE BED FRAME BREAK WITH THE MATTRESS FALLING TO THE FLOOR. THE PLASTIC OVERLAY ON THE KITCHEN CABINETS WAS PEELING OFF, 1/2 OF THE LIGHTBULBS IN THE DINING ROOM LIGHT WERE BURNED OUT AND THE SHOWER LIGHT IN THE MASTER BATH ALSO WAS NOT WORKING. THERE WAS A COCKROACH IN THE LIVING ROOM AND A RAT WAS SEEN POOLSIDE! THE INTERNET DID NOT START WORKING UNTIL THE FOURTH DAY AND CALLS WERE NOT RETURNED BY MANAGEMENT FOR THIS ISSUE. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT WE HAD, THIS BEING A 4 BEDROOM RENTAL SLEEPING 8 YET YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED 2 CAR PASSES. IF YOU HAVE A THIRD CAR YOU CAN "PURCHASE" AN EXTRA PASS OR PARK IN THE STREET! LOVED FOLLY BUT WILL NOT RETURN TO COV!!!

Owner's Response: We are so sorry you didn't have a great experience. Everyone that stays at COV and in that particular unit always loves it, and comes back year after year. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about the Home Owners Associations parking pass policy, it is what it is, but all guests are explained prior to arrival their policies, so they're should not have been any suprises. Sometimes beds break, but we are always able to take care of issues like that immediately, with our in house maintenance team. As far as the internet goes, we have an IT team in place to handle those issues immediately upon request, they just need to be notified. Sorry, that did not happen quicker for you. Hopefully your next stay on Folly will be more enjoyable!

The condo itself was fine. Not the best view, but that wasn't important to us. The biggest problem we had was the water pressure. At check in we had zero water pressure in the kitchen, and high/low pressure in the showers. We called maintenance about it and was told he had been there on three different times to fix it and couldn't. I guess calling a plumber was out. I mean we had a drip by drip in the kitchen going on. My son in law fooled around with it and realized if you used the hose sprayer, it would allow the water to flow again through the faucet. We had to do this all week. Only problem was you needed a pair of vise scrips to do it because the sprayer was broken. Having a handy man is great, but at some time you have to call in a professional. Expecting no water in the kitchen was ludicrous. Kitchen needs an inventory done. I.E., no can opener or measuring cups. No big deal until you need them. Invest in some blackout curtains. The sun which was beautiful, but not so much blaring in at you at 5:30 in the a.m. These items could be easily taken care of. The layout of the floor plan is terrific, and if the issues are solved, we would certainly stay again.

Needs curtains!!

First of all we want to emphasize we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Folly Beach. We are looking forward to returning to the beach again. Let's start with the bad so we can end on a good note. The description states it is oceanfront so I was expecting my balcony view to be overlooking the ocean. Instead it was overlooking the Tides hotel parking lot with the ocean in the background which I would consider that ocean view not oceanfront. I looked forward to sitting on my balcony listening to the ocean instead I had to call the Folly beach police to enforce the noise ordinance when someone was blasting their car stereo at 2:30 am. The biggest issue we had was there was no blinds or thick curtains in the master bedroom to block light or to give any privacy. They have decorative sheer fabric that blocks NO light at all so the sun woke me up at 6:30am every morning blasting me in the eyes. My 3 year old was tired and cranky by the end of the week from getting woke up so early from the light. There was blinds on the 1st bedroom on the right when you walk in with a valance but the outside light is right next to that window so that room is way too bright at night also. The bedroom on the left when you 1st walk in has blinds but no curtains and again it was too light from the outside lights. The inside bedroom that shares the bathroom was the only bedroom that blocked any light or had curtains. The unit is on the end of the complex so you get all the street noise and Loggerhead bar noise when they have a band playing you can hear it in the front bedrooms. On the plus side, the walkway to the beach is right there for easy beach access. One of the pools is really close on that same end of the complex. Super close to the pier and quick walk to places to shop and eat. Felt very secure with leaving things we had taken to the beach outside our door so as not to drag the sand in the condo.
