Take it easy at this tranquil getaway on the Potomac River. This two-story cottage-style carriage house on historic land is less than 30 minutes from DC and .1 miles from a public boat launch. This nearly 2-acre private retreat is just downriver from George Washington's Mount Vernon. Enjoy the private boat dock, watch the sunset, eat in, or drive less than 20 miles to National Harbor for dinner and a show at MGM. Take a Water Taxi from National Harbor to Old Town Alexandria, and The Wharf in DC.

This cottage on the Potomac is perfect for 1 (in my case), but easily for 2! It’s well appointed throughout, and if you have a car you’ll really be able to enjoy the surrounding area. I used uber and it was easy.The hosts are very kind and easy to send inquiries. Please give this hideaway your attention!

Our stay was exactly what we wanted and expected. Being right on the water was absolutely wonderful, and the home was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The location was perfect for us, although future guests should know it is a bit farther from most stores, with about a 15-minute (or longer) drive to shopping and restaurants.We stayed for a week and did run out of toilet paper, so it may be helpful for longer stays to bring a few extra supplies. The bed was a bit softer than we prefer, but we know mattress comfort is very much a matter of personal preference.During our stay, there was an issue with the air conditioning that caused water to leak onto the first floor. The owner was very responsive and communicated with us right away. She initially suggested soaking up the water with the available bath towels, but we chose to wait until she brought a mop. She reassured us she would also bring additional towels, which she did. Even more importantly, she had maintenance there first thing the next morning, and the issue was repaired within 24 hours. We appreciated how quickly it was addressed and weren’t upset because of how promptly and professionally it was handled.One of our favorite things was how simple the checkout process was. There wasn’t a long list of chores or cleaning responsibilities, which was a huge plus and made our departure much more enjoyable.Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely choose this property again.
