Hidden Hollow: una adorable cabaña a poca distancia de la ciudad para ir de compras, comer, galerías, iglesias, tenis, piscina pública, senderos naturales y más. Aquí, usted tiene privacidad al final del camino, pero no está aislado, es muy conveniente.

Hay un mínimo de UNA SEMANA para las semanas de VACACIONES, de lo contrario, un mínimo de 3 noches.

Esta casa podría pasar fácilmente como una casa de tres habitaciones: el loft abierto sirve como la tercera habitación y comparte el baño de arriba. La gran sala ofrece una impresionante chimenea de gas de piso a techo, hermosos pisos de madera, TV por cable con DVD, cocina abierta y comedor. El porche cubierto es un buen escape y da al hermoso y exuberante bosque y arroyo, nunca creerías que estás a solo una cuadra de la ciudad. Parrilla de gas ubicada justo al lado del porche. El BR Mst tiene una cama King y baño privado con bañera de hidromasaje, el área del loft tiene una cama nido, el BR invitado tiene una cama queen y baño privado. Hay un medio baño fuera de la gran sala, y el área de lavandería está justo al lado de la cocina. Esta casa tiene calefacción central y aire acondicionado, y aunque es pequeña, "vive a lo grande" con todos los espacios de vida separados disponibles.

Ignore the other reviews. It's an older cabin so it has a smell but it's not terrible. We brought an air purifier and our own sheets. We used neither. Place is great for price point, location etc.

Close to Downtown!

Great overall stay. Cool little cabin tucked into the woods, but right downtown Highlands. Perfect to walk to all the restaurants and bars. Highly recommend and would stay again. (There's a slight musty smell, but it is because the house is old, it did not take away from the stay)

We were able to walk to shops and dinner in 10 minutes, enjoy peaceful mornings on the patio and enjoy home cooked meals with a stocked appliance kitchen. The home was clean, which is a must for me. We really appreciated the amenities and location. Would love to book here again.

Great location; however, the smell was almost unbearable. We had to keep the doors open to air out the house. We emptied the dehumidifiers out daily. Moldy / Musty smell. This house needs an air purifier at a minimum!

The sofa table/ chest in front of the couch was broken and the wood top was just laying on top and came flying off. Needs to be glued down. Other then that it was a lovely place to stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great experinece at Hidden Hollow. The home was even more beautiful than the pictures could capture. There are trails right from the house that lead to the Rec center and down to a beautiful creek. It is always walking distance to everything in downtown highlands, which was key! The kitchen is well equipped with pots/pans/dishes, etc but they do not provide any salt/pepper/EVOO/butter, etc, so be sure to bring your own spices and basics if you are cooking. We were right at home and had a wonderful stay.

Highlands getaway

Location was excellent but there were multiple items in the home that were broken or nonfunctioning including an outdoor gate on the porch, the stereo system and the ice machine. The beds were hard and linens (sheets and towels) felt old and dingy. None of this was a dealbreaker given the location, but it left something to be desired in terms of comfort.

Great stay for Highlands downtown

We come to Highlands every yer Ar this time to reconnect with friends after Thanksgiving. Enjoying the Highlands and the tree lighting tradition. This location was great for us. The listing was exactly as discribed. Only hiccup was the fireplace wouldnt light.

Simple house and good location

Good location in town / near town. Walking to many things. TV is old (no smart apps), but that was fine, forced us to do fun things like play chess and do puzzles!

Wanted to love it but no.

Unfortunately, due to the mold and mildew issues with this house we will not be returning. The location is spot on and the house was once truly beautiful, but with the lack of maintenance there is a major mold and mildew issue. As soon as you step in the house you are aware of it. If the owners invested in good dehumidifier that drains outside along with a quality air purifier this may be manageable. We are very familiar with this area being a rain forest, but no one should feel like they are breathing in mold while they stay here, much less smell it. I hope this review helps anyone that is sensitive to these issues. Half our family left early with upper respiratory symptoms. I hope the owner thinks enough of their guests to fix these things.

Filthy and full of bugs! 1" of dust on everything and BIG jumping camel crickets all over the place

I rented this cottage in the Highlands, NC for my mother, sisters and other relatives to stay during the weekend of my sons wedding. The pictures looked charming and inviting, but when we arrived the bathrooms were full of big camel crickets - the ones that seek out water. My brother-in-law had to go around and kill them all. During the entire weekend, every time someone used the bathrooms they would jump all over and scare you to death. My mother refused to use the bathrooms after she was scared the second time. The entire cottage hadn't been cleaned and there was an inch of dust on everything and the linens were not as clean as they should have been. I was embarrassed and mortified that I rented such a poorly kept place for my family. It was such a traumatic experience for my sister, she texted all of our family with pictures etc. Discussing!!!

DISASTER!!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house should NOT be rented until a myriad of issues are resolved!!! These issues I later learned ....date back a few years. The property HAS to have installed an entire house dehumidifier system that drains to the outside of the house. The house also needs screens through out. You cannot open a single window or door to get fresh mountain air which is the entire reason to rent in Highlands in the summer months. The TV did not work. The vacuum did not work! The electric fireplace did not work! The laundry sink leaked and the washer gasket was full of mold. The living room TV was tiny and did not work. . The porch furniture should have been junked 20 years ago. After a heavy rain, you could not get to the front door from your your parking place without ruining your shoes. The road/ street to the house is gravel and full of potholes. One door bottom was completely rotted out exposing a small hole into master bedroom. ALL BED LINENS AND towels need replacing immediately. The dresser and nightstands in the master were practically cardboard. We started calling for help after we were in the house for an hour. We got no help and no hope of help fixing anything. We had to empty the small dehumidifier every three hours....when we were there. I cannot imagine being more disappointed. Why an agency would rent this property is beyond my imagination. Agency offered no help or refund. We left early and would have left the first day if we had not invited guests who were driving 8 hours to be with us the second day.We had them bring their own sheets, blankets pillows and towels. Don’t even think about renting this property! RENTERS BEWARE!

In need of some TLC!

The property is in an excellent, walkable location near the main strip, which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, the home itself is in significant need of both interior and exterior repairs. Upon entering, we were immediately overwhelmed by a strong musty smell, likely due to the wooded surroundings and persistent moisture issues. To make matters worse, we found a dead mouse in the main living upon arrival, which was extremely off-putting.The mustiness triggered a severe allergic reaction for me, making it difficult to enjoy our stay while we needed to be there, it was so bad our friends who joined left a day early. While there is a dehumidifier available, it required constant monitoring and emptying to manage the damp conditions. Despite the lease paperwork indicating a pre-arrival inspection, we later learned the property had last been cleaned/ inspected since six days prior to our check-in. Communication with the property manager came after one phone call and a second email. They did refund the cleaning fee, which I appreciated.The exterior of the home is visibly affected by wood rot, and while the large windows provide great views, the lack of window coverings presents a privacy issue that some may not enjoy. We had to hang towels in the upstairs bedroom window and noticed passersby on the path beside the house could see into the downstairs restroom and anyone can see through the front of the home. This property fell short of expectations.

Disappointing

Poor condition of dishes & kitchen equipment.7. Tiny TV, inadequate service.There is a heavy musty/moldy odor when you enter the house. It is very damp inside, and the dehumidifier never stops running. Within a few hours we had runny noses,coughs,and itching, burning eyes. Good location, and it could be very nice, but not well-maintained or appointed. The dishes had chips and chunks out of them, and the coffee cups got dangerously hot in the microwave. This was our second year in this property, and not one thing was improved, added or changed. For example, the kitchen sink sprayer was broken and wouldn't sit in its hole. The pots and pans were very old and in poor condition. When it rained, we had to wade through water up to our ankles to get in the door. There was contractor debris outside. The management company was great; we wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The accommodations were great, the vicinity was the best, and the decorations were awesome! The place did smell as though it had been empty for quite some time. There were cobwebs in several places, dust bunnies in the corners, and it just felt as though it had not been cleaned in a while.
