We live away from this property but find ourselves needing to 'get away' from the hectic big city. We searched for years to find this property. Our criteria were as follows: Property must be in the mountains, have rushing water in view, on acreage, beautiful home, or one to build, within distance of our daily lives, fireflies, spring flowers, rhododendrons and mountain laurel, nice yard with easy access. etc. Well this was most certainly a huge order!. No wonder it took us years to find! We love it in those wonderful God made mountains and look forward to each minute we can spend there. Thank you God for helping us find this place. So come and see if you enjoy it as much as our family. Oh yes, our grands love it too.
Kay purchased this Cabin in 1991
Why Kay chose Cheoah
Location, location, location! Water rushing in your front yard and not across or down the road from property. Waterfall, pond and trout river. Nature at it's best! Quiet serene area, very private and on acreage. Hear the water rush by and fall to sleep. Oh yes, easy access for 4 season convenience. All the decks, porches, yard and swing on one of them to sit, eat and listen to the water rush by. Fire pit by the creek. Oh my!
What makes this Cabin unique
Fish in your front yard, play in the water, enjoy the abundant wildflowers, smell the sweet air, enjoy star gazing from the yard or from the master suite deck. Just off Cherohala Skyway and another place to view the heavens. Ride the tail of the Dragon. Bring your bike, motor bikes or ATV's. How about that hike or hike to waterfalls? All can be done here plus more. Again, we want to reiterate, we chose this place for the location, water in front, easy access and on acreage. All front windows look at the water amenities. Sit by the water and read your novel, or write the play, as we have guest do before, and or swing on the porch, eat out on one of the porches by candlelight. Oh my! Relax, after all, we need that. But if you must, we have WIFI for those that cannot break the habit of checking in on your devices.

POTENTIAL RENTERS BEWARE
This is a scam! The owner insisted I pay with a check ( first come first serve to reserve the property) along with a large damage deposit then accused me of damage ( the vrbo even decided was ridiculous but couldn't help me get the deposit back because I paid with a check instead of a credit card thru their system. I was told by the VRBO to reply thru them and to the owner directly. the owner told me because I did this it did not set well with her and she will now return any of the deposit . The VRBO has been notified of this person activity. There is not much they can do to help make things right if you dont use a credit card. This owner knows this and abuses the system. I am not only renter this has happened to. The cabin is poorly maintained and not safe. Most likely not up to the safety code. Half of the electrical plugs don't work. There is a light fixture held together by a rubber band. The front door is held together with a wire. The musty smell is not a breath of fresh air. There is a small creek she calls a river and the "trout pond" is a joke! If you're looking to rent a cabin in robbinsville look past this one. The owners has two names and other properties so beware.
Scam, if we are a scam then we have been ripping people off for 13 years. Look at our house number here on VRBO and that will tell you how long we have been doing business with VRBO. The payment is handled as it was up to a few months ago when VRBO changed to 3rd. party on some bookings. . Other cabins we have uses the 3rd. party pay, which I am not happy with. Tyler is one of the nastiest persons we have had in this house this year. She let the children bring in rocks from the drive and leave on my hardwood floors/tongue and groove and I walked in after dropping my shoes at the door and stepped on one and punctured my foot. Her response was in note through VRBO that she paid for housekeeping to clean. (Do you see a charge for housekeeping in my ad, I would ask.). Glad they were only there 3 days. This is all about her burning up my Micro and not telling me, leaving a permanent ring, red around the bottom and 2 scraped of paint off the turn table of the microwave. . Had to trash it.! Never told me and I wrote her immediately, sent 2 pics and asked how did this happen. She was not woman enough to answer and I followed up in a few days telling her no answer then I was holding her deposit. which I did. Had to email and send pics of micro to our next guest to tell them sorry the micro is bad and I know you did not trash it. She said she never cooked yet the stove glass top was ringed so badly it took us about 45 min. just to clean the stove top. Micro has been replaced by us. House is in great condition and she should be so lucky to find it. We have charging stations for electronics yet she was trying to use the plug ins in walls with wood frames to match the wood in cabin and she had trouble. I guess she could not figure out how to use them. Touching someone pocket book sure makes people mean. We do not want her at our property every again.
First time renting thru VRBO! Just like on the pictures! This place is perfect getaway from everyday life. The scenery is amazing! Only sound of rushing creek and sound of leaves in the wind is all you can hear; heaven for the ears.
Loved how house has many many souvenir details.
Would love to come back again maybe in spring when nature is waking up from winter.
Incredibly Peaceful and Beautiful
What an amazing setting! This place is truly away from all the hustle and bustle of every day life. The scenery is just beautiful and the sounds of the rushing creek, the leaves blowing in the wind and the birds chirping is just wonderful. Very relaxing! The home offers everything you could possibly need. The owners are fantastic; very accommodating and so easy to work with. We had an amazing time. I definitely recommend staying here!
Thank you for stopping by with your review and the amount of time you put into getting the message and star rating corrected. We truly cherish wonderful guests and welcome this guest back with open arms. Thank you, The owners.
Traveling to the end of the paved road onto a gravel road, then onto a long very narrow driveway was scary. Not recommended for bikers. Arriving at the home I was impressed with the rushing creek, beautiful big porches with rocking chairs and a swing. There were lots of humming birds. A million dollar view. I thought this is perfect but that ended as soon as I opened the front door. There was a strong musky odor and very cluttered décor. The sofa & chairs were dingy and sheets torn. A designers nightmare. The only bathroom with a shower is adjunct to the kitchen & living area. Not very convenient. I only found 1 bedroom and a loft bedroom, on VRBO, 3 bedrooms and a loft were listed. Maybe I missed the other 2 or there was another entrance. The TV in the siting area is about 24" at the most 30". ATT cell service is not available but there is a land line. I have stayed in many VRBO properties but this was the only one that was disappointing. There are a lot of possibilities for the house, just needs refreshing. I feel I paid a price for a nice resort area but instead received a motel 8.
Correction. This traveler is not from Temple, Georgia but south Florida. The truth does find us out.
The report on the road for the bikers is unwarranted The locals have chosen to leave the road unpaved for about 1/4 mi. to our cabin so that there is peace and quiet, ATV can ride, motor bike, peddle bike. We have one neighbor that rides his bike from up the mountain down all of which is not paved. We have had Gold Wing club folks in and report having a wonderful time. There are 3 rentals on this road and two other families have 2 cabins and B & B on down and up the mountain. All have visitors with motor bikes and have good reports. This person apparently does not know how to drive in the mountains as we have had visitors, family, friends for years and have never had that said about our driveway. Perhaps driving lessons might be in order for her. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 of which she seen. The loft bedroom was locked off. The one she called a LOFT is abt. 24 by 30 master suite up. The master has a big TV, sofa, seating, music, bedroom, bath and deck overlooking the water with Bistro table/chairs and covered porch overlooking the mountains. Or just as report on our VRBO listing. Fully stocked kitchen, dining room with china, and daily dinnerware. We take pride in our property and furnish FREE long distance/internet service and yes we cannot get ATT, only in certain places, as she reported. Anyone that travels in the mountains, a seasoned traveler, knows none work well there. So FREE landline. TV's, we have 2 and one is smaller to fit the spot down with the fireplace and other is larger in sitting up master. Plenty of programming too. Sheets were not torn as they are all new from up to down. Torn by whom? 9# well behaved dog was along. No smoking property yet we had ashes in a tray on the rocking chair porch still sitting when cleaning crew arrived. This traveler reported she owns 1/5 interest in a property in south Fl. So, I would challenge her to sell the interest, open a Motel 8, (per her review) and show us how to pave our roads, clean our houses, make extra bedrooms and baths, get cell service. I feel we are offering a fantastic service to our travelers and welcome them with open arms. We appreciate truthfulness but will not tolerate the likes of this person. Some people have nothing better to do than try to hurt others.
Travelers in the Fall
After a long day of driving, we arrived early evening at "A Breath of Fresh Air". It was just that and more!
The cabin sits across the creek and down the hill from the road, more beautiful than the photos we were
presented before our trip. (This includes inside and out!) Upon arrival, the first views are that of the 3 porches overlooking the landscaped yard, which leads to a walking bridge that crosses the creek! Also benches are available to relax and enjoy the views of a waterfall!
The cabin is roomy, yet warm, and again beautiful with all hardwood floors downstairs and carpeted up. The view from the kitchen and living room is fantastic! When the windows are opened, you can hear the waters outside! Of course there is TV, but no need!
The owner spent a great amount of time with me before our arrival about the area, her home, what to see, where to go, etc. We followed her suggestions, believed in her, and found this to be one of out best vacations to NC that we've had. Plan to return next fall, have already made reservations!!
This was our 4th vacation to NC and found this side of the mountains much more peaceful and more for what we enjoy!
We thank you for taking the time to write a reviw and especially thank you for your kind words. After all, the return guests are what so very much apprecite and will be pleased to have this family again this next year and many more years to come.
This home in the woods in set in a location that will put your mind and body at ease. It was somewhat challenging to find due to the remote location and somewhat confusing driveways, but we were able to find it without too much trouble. There truely was a breath of fresh air at this location. One could walk out of the front door or step onto one of the porches and see and hear the flowing stream just steps away. Even our dog thought this was the best place he had ever been while he jumped from rock to rock in the stream and ran through the yard.
The owners were very quick to respond to all of my questions when contacting them.
The location was very convienant to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest for hiking and Tsali Recreational Area for mountain biking.
My husband and I are very active and found this to be a very relaxing, enjoyable way to celebrate my 30th birthday!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by with your review. We chose the place for the same reasons--calming and serenity and privacy. We want our guest to come to our property and relax, feel like you have been on a vacation once your return home to your very hectic schedule.
We work to make our property at minimum 110% of what we expect as we are long time travelers. The driveway may be a little confusing as you have to come into an island then disbure down a very long drive along the waterway to the cabin. With that said, we have a new sign made a few weeks back and should be installed shortly. That will make guests feel confortable that they are on the right path. Secondly, we always attach to an email the directions from town to our property, as the GPS sure makes some blunders. We even ask our guests to confirm that they have printed the directions. Location is remote by some standards but that is what we want. Yes we have neighbors but not in your face neighbors. Our county is majority National Forest, hence privacy is assured for our guests. Our property has excellent access which many do not in the mountains and that again was why we chose this piece of land.
We want our guests to be treated special, without the land owners in your face or just the way we want to be treated when we travel. Otherwise, we and or you should stay in the big box hotels/motels.
Hike Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Ride the Tail of the Dragon, Fontana Lake and Dam, Santeetlah Lake about 3 miles away, Hike to your heart's content, Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrah's Casino, Cherohala Scenic Skyway, hike Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, visit waterfalls, Water skiing and Jet Ski, Winter skiing, sledding nearby, enjoy the fall scenery, a four season treat, Or just enjoy the beauty and the sound of rushing water with a great novel, Or, as we have had in past, write that screen play and or novel while visting our home, fish in your front yard and all around, play board games, just cummunicate with those loved ones and nature. Ride the Tail of The Dragon, if you dare. Bikers welcome too! For larger groups there is another cabin on this acreage that will sleep 4 to 5. Ask us about that one to compliment this home. Special rates to larger groups. rentals 3 days to weeks.
