No better location. Beautiful historic home. Lovely staff and owners.

Our group loved staying right on the Paseo Montejo in this historic home! Walking distance to everything. Groceries right across the street. The house and property are well maintained and comfortable. The pool is warm and surrounded by greenery. We loved it all!

Beautiful house, excellent service and location

The owners are responsive to communication and setup a chat with the team to make sure we were all in sync. The team kept the house clean and made sure that if anything came up, it was taken care of. For example, a fan broke down and was fixed within that same day. 👍 The chef service was a great addition. We had delicious local cuisine right at home. Everyone was super friendly. The house is beautifully decorated with unique and museum level items, fully appointed with everything we needed. The pool area was a favorite of the kids. Mine were the high quality Bluetooth speakers. Location is across the street from a supermarket and blocks to restaurants and shops. Walking distance to downtown. Lovely! We all want to come back.

A lucky find for the aesthete

Casa Tuut is a glowing green gem on Merida’s most glamorous central street, Paseo Montejo. A stay sends you back into the heyday of a majestic city and delights your senses. Among the historic homes of the of wealthiest hacienda owners of the green gold known as sisal, a perch near the city’s innovative culinary magicians, and a glimmering oasis to beat the heat and relax after your adventures of the day. Casa Tuut is mayan for green parrot. And yes, there is a green parrot that lives in the towering trees that provide occasional shade over the courtyard’s lovely pool. This special place is also patrolled by a gregarious iguana that blends himself perfectly in the mottled stone wall that is adorned by a young banyan tree, hopelessly nesting in a high corner. Relive your day trips around the tip of the Yucatan when you return to cool off and plan your dinner in one of the cities cantinas. The shimmering blue-green pool echoes enchanting cenotes you enjoyed to break the pan-frying heat of the day; the intricate cool tiles on the floors as those admired in local historic haciendas, the sisal wall hangings and the owner’s grandmother’s art remind you of the pride of Merida. The finest of towels, bedding and toiletries are stocked in each of five unique, and (gratefully) air conditioned rooms. At the heart of the home: a large round gathering table. This and a kind and gently staffed team will surely make yours a most memorable visit to this proud and lovely city.

Why they chose this property

CASA TUUT is right in the center of town, in the most popular area and old road of the city: Paseo Montejo. They call it the Champs Elysees of the Yucatan. Paseo Montejo is full of restaurants and bars, just in front there is a large supermarket where you find pretty much everything and the Patriotic Monument (one of the must-see attractions is literally around the corner). It is also very near the Alvarado Sport Grounds (7 mins by foot) boasting a football pitch, tennis courts, paddle board courts, basketball, baseball, gyms, yoga and running tracks.
