Tranquil Tropical Oasis in the Historic Center

Just for clarification purposes the house was completely repainted last year Pictures can be provided if desired The house has a tankless hot water heater and it takes a few minutes for the water to get hot and reach the kitchen which is a door distance from the hot water heater as is the master bath

I never heard from these guests prior,during or after their stay so the communication was lacking Some folks seem to forget they’re in the tropics and if the door to the terrace is left open mosquitoes are going to get in All of the bed covers are new and the living room furniture is leather and in good condition The dining room set is solid wood and a traditional style Modern furniture would look out of place in a traditional house It’s unfortunate the furniture wasn’t to their taste The other reviews stand for themselves

I think a lot of folks don’t realize that Merida is the 3rd oldest city in North America ( and that doesn’t even account for the Maya before that) The are numerous abandoned homes throughout the City many of which are being bought and renovated or torn down The street that the house is located on doesn’t actually have that many it is an old neighborhood as are all the neighborhoods in the Historic Center

The reason that the house was in the condition it was in was due to the fact that the house and pool hadn’t been cleaned when they were permitted to drop their luggage off early due to the fact that other guests had just checked out that morning. The dirty clothes on the sofa were left behind by the departing guests Her comments about the area not feeling safe are a bit confusing in that she mentions they never felt unsafe at any time, which is due to the fact that the house is in a quiet residential neighborhood of families The house is on a non through street with no bus traffic but it is in the city and naturally has some noise just like any city would have As far as houses with no one living in them please take note that this is common in the Merida Historic Center in any of the neighborhoods downtown and are slowly but surely being restored due to their value but it will take time because of the amount of them It’s unfortunate that this guest had a bad experience but the other reviews speak for themselves I’d also like to mention that none of these issues were mentioned to either myself or Rosalinda, my property manager and that this review is the first time it was brought to our attention without having had the opportunity to discuss them with the guest. It’s unfortunate to only be able to respond in this manner

Thanks again, Karen & Jeff The guest that posted this review apparently complained to VRBO AFTER departure and it seems to me if things were as bad as he states he would have contacted either VRBO or myself upon his arrival and asked to have the situation corrected or had VRBO provide him with alternate accommodations, but he did neither even though he was asked in a message from me prior to his arrival that if there were any problems to please let me know. I didn't hear anything from this guest during his entire stay. My property manager inspects the house and provides me with pictures every time the house is cleaned between guests departing and arriving and the house did not look as he claims. There is also no construction happening on either side of the house I was there myself a few days prior to his arrival. Both houses are owner occupied and have been for years so there were no construction workers peeping in, which is an absolutely absurd claim The walls surrounding the back yard are approximately 8 feet high and it isn't possible for anyone to "peep in" Apparently either based upon his review or complaining directly to VRBO it was elevated to Expedia (the owner of VRBO) Health and Safety. After my response to Expedia, including pictures, below is their response. Best Regards, Florin Emanuel I have no idea what this guests motivation is and honestly after the review by Expedia this review should not have been allowed to have been posted. I'll let the email I pasted above (from a repeat guest) and the other reviews stand for themselves
