About the host
Hosted by Yonah Mountain Farmhouse
My husband Don and I began hosting in Vermont more than 12 years ago and later fell in love with the wines, small‑town charm and outdoor adventures of the North Georgia mountains. Unable to find a property that matched our expectations, we designed and built Yonah Mountain Farmhouse ourselves.
With four ensuite bedrooms, a chef’s kitchen, vaulted ceilings and a game‑packed lower level, our custom home is made for friends and multi‑generational families who want to connect and have fun together. You’ll find features like a gas fireplace, covered porch, eight‑person hot tub, fire‑pit patio and access to Mays Lake and a community pavilion.
We’re hands‑on hosts who care about details and quick to answer any questions. Our goal is simple: to make guests feel welcome and comfortable by drawing on our personal love of travel and the communities we are a part of.

Why they chose this property
It's custom‑built for connection: Our cabin wasn’t just decorated—it was designed from the ground up for groups. The great room features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a stone fireplace that’s both a focal point and a cozy heat source. A rustic wood dining table seats twelve and flows seamlessly into a chef’s kitchen with a professional‑grade gas range and a fully stocked coffee bar.
There's room for everyone: Four spacious bedrooms each have their own ensuite bathroom, high‑quality mattresses and plenty of natural light, so couples and families enjoy privacy without sacrificing together time.
Both indoor and outdoor fun: The walk‑out lower level is a dedicated game zone with a pool table, ping‑pong, Pac‑Man and a big ‑screen TV. Step onto the deck to soak in the private hot tub or gather around the gas fire pit for stargazing. A covered porch off the main floor looks out to the Chattahoochee National Forest and has a fire table for morning coffee or evening wine.
It's in a great location. You’ll be tucked inside a gated community with a pavilion and a dock on Mays Lake for fishing and kayaking. When you’re ready to explore, dozens of wineries, trails and downtown Helen are just a short drive away, so there’s something for everyone.
It offers modern conveniences: Fast fiber‑optic Wi‑Fi, an EV charger, a dedicated workspace with standing desk and printer, and accessible features like oversize doorways ensure a comfortable stay for all.
In short, Yonah Mountain Farmhouse combines thoughtful design, ample space and an unbeatable location—making it ideal for families, friends and multi‑generational gatherings.

What makes this property unique
Designed for togetherness: The main level features a soaring great room with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a stone fireplace. It’s flooded with natural light thanks to a wall of windows that look out over the forest. A reclaimed‑wood dining table seats twelve, and the open kitchen encourages everyone to cook and eat together.
Thoughtful work‑from‑anywhere amenities: A private office near the foyer comes with a standing desk and printer, and high‑speed fiber‑optic Wi‑Fi runs throughout. For guests with limited mobility, there’s an accessible bedroom with oversize doorways and a shower grab bar.
Entertainment for all ages: The lower level is a self‑contained recreation zone with board games, a large TV, pool and ping‑pong tables, Pac‑Man, and air hockey. Just outside is a private hot tub and a gas fire pit.
Seamless indoor‑outdoor living: A covered porch off the kitchen overlooks the Chattahoochee National Forest and includes a fire table—ideal for morning coffee or evening wine. Guests also have access to a community pavilion with a fireplace and grills, plus a private lake for fishing and kayaking.
Prime location: You’re minutes from the Unicoi Wine Trail, dozens of hiking trails and downtown Helen, giving you easy access to vineyards, waterfalls and the Bavarian‑style village without sacrificing peace and quiet.
