This was a bad and difficult experience renting to Marli. Our first bad experience for this property in 12 years of renting. In her review, her only complaint is that the property manager is a hassle even though numerous reviews for this property and other properties go out of their way to mention how much they appreciated the property manager. Marli also wrote that the best thing she could say is the property was “fine,” but then wrote “the rooftop is great.” Marli's communication with us was constantly unclear and changing. She continually changed the number of guests from 8 to 7 to 6 (we charge extra for guests over 6). We could never truly find out how many people stayed at the property. Also, before her arrival she told us one of the main reasons she had chosen the property was because she could rent surfboard(s) and her last message to us before she came said she did not want a surfboard and would use a friend’s. The first morning of her stay however she messaged asking for a surfboard and when the property manager and owner tried to immediately give her a board, she said she didn’t want one and was using a friend’s. It was quite confusing, but we were good with whatever she wanted. Three weeks after her stay, out of the blue, she wrote us aggressively on VRBO that we had laughed at her and “said no” when she wanted a surfboard and we were responsible for her not surfing -- even though she had never mentioned one single complaint about surfboards during her stay and we certainly never did such a thing, nor would we ever do such a thing. We have no idea why she made up these false accusations. This was also the same day she wrote a bad review and made a claim to VRBO for money back regarding the number of guests (which was now a different number than she had told us the final two times while she was staying). Marli continued writing us messages over VRBO that were more aggressive and vitriolic. To top it off, her group left the house damaged, excessively dirty, and smelling badly of cigarette smoke. It's very unfortunate we had this experience, but we look forward to all our guests in the future who are a pleasure to host and to our guests who return year after year because they love this property and management.

Thank you for your review and we are happy you enjoyed your stay! We wish you would have told us during your stay about the items you mention here, and we would have gladly brought you what you wanted. The owner had cooked an elaborate Thanksgiving meal the month before and we didn't think the kitchen was lacking. We thought the hand soap we provided was nice quality and we haven't been told before that the unit needed a second hair dryer. But we would have happily brought you a second hair dryer along with laundry detergent, additional shampoo, and liquid hand soap if we had known you wanted these. It's a pleasure for us to make sure our guests have everything they want.

We are so happy you had a wonderful time at the house and appreciated the beautiful rooftop terrace with its amazing views and furnishings. As we explained during your stay, we don't have an umbrella shading exposed areas on the rooftop because of the risk trade winds may take it and be unsafe. However, the rooftop terrace has 400 square feet of roof covering it, providing 400 square feet of shade all day. Additionally, the hammock area is shaded in the afternoon and a wonderful spot to take a siesta. And the shade from the roof covering extends further in the afternoon as the sun moves to the other side of the building. We, ourselves, have spent countless hours enjoying the rooftop all day. To say that it is difficult to enjoy the rooftop terrace for much of the day seems inaccurate. We want future guests to know that it can be enjoyed at all times of day.

We wish you would have told us during your stay that you were having problems with the shower, and we would have immediately come to work on it. We asked a few times during your stay how everything was at the house and also asked in person, and we were not told you were having problems with the shower. Our previous guests did not have problems with the shower. And we have had guests in the house for a month after your stay, and they have not had problems with the shower. We are sorry this happened and wish you would have told us during your stay.
