About Finn Alban

Finn Alban, is the current owner of this historic farm house bought by her parents in 1966 as a place to retire. Why Finn Alban chose Fredericksburg

'While growing up in San Antonio, I had often visited the Hill Country as a child. Even then, I knew that some day, some way, I would live there. When my son was 4 years old, that opportunity came and we moved here to this very special small town with its wonderful community.'

What makes this house unique

This antique and art filled property, is a well cared for, family home that has in the past, sheltered many people in a loving way. The sun bleached limestone walls give this house it's rightful sense of place in the Texas Hill Country.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Finn,

We had a lovely time here. This was our first visit to Fredericksburg and will remember it fondly. We really enjoyed sitting in the backyard with the fire going at night. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfy stay. Zoey loved being able to roam around your fenced yard.

Thank you so much. Have a lovely Holiday! We will be back again!

Lovely cottage near Fredericksburg

  • 4 of 5

The Potter's Cottage was very clean and comfortable for our short get-away. The little extras provided by the owner made it so inviting. We would have liked to have spent more time outside on the lovely patio, but the non-stop barking of the dogs across the street drove us inside. Would return, but would be prepared to either read/have our glass of wine elsewhere or take earplugs in case the dogs were out again.

Cute and close to town

  • 5 of 5

Nice outside patio, small living room, comfortable bedrooms (stairs), “kitchen” is limited to microwave and small refrigerator. Cooking /eating in is very limited. Provided fruit, juice, milk, cereal, coffee and tea which was unexpected. Not a great deal of space but typically one doesn’t come to Fredericksburg to sit inside. Friendly, helpful owner. Convenient to town.

This unique, art filled B&B, the Potter's Cottage, is1/2 of a 120 year old limestone farmhouse ( like a duplex). The other 1/2 of the house is occupied by the owner but there is a stone wall separating the two and separate entrances with plenty of privacy. It is located within an easy 4 block walk to the historic Marketplatz on Main Street.

Fredericksburg is rich with varieties of recreational activities including the local History Museum, The Nimitz Museum of the Pacific War, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, and the LBJ Park in Stonewall. The region is known for it's Texas wineries and wonderful restaurants. It is also fast becoming a destination for Texas music with many venues for listening and dancing.

This part of the Hill Country offers many opportunities for outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, birding and viewing wildflowers and beautiful scenery.
