Charming Beach Cottage - Dreams & Memories, a Perfect Getaway!

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 0 - 5 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6); Ventura, License: LIC 4-11 299

This charming beach Cottage is the 8th house from the beach(less than 1 minute walk to the sand!). It is truly among the most charming cottages in Pierpont. It is perfect for a romantic get-away, or a family vacation. Because it is so close to the sand, you can spend the day at the beach going back and forth from the cottage for food, drink, or rest. From the new, but rustic, birch-wood floors, to the Brazilian blue-green sea-bottom granite, to the hot tub, and attention to detail throughout, as well as one of the largest useable garden-yards in the community, this unique retreat delights. The Cottage consists of a custom, gorgeous kitchen with a recently added skylight, new appliances, dishes, cookware, and much more to enjoy your stay. The Cottage has a master bedroom with a comfortable Queen bed (purchased Aug.2017), a family-room with a pull-out Queen bed, and a super-room ( a larger room than the master, with a 3/4 privacy divider separating bunk beds, room-space and closets on one side, from a Queen bed, room-space and closets on the other). Families with boys and girls stay comfortably in this super-room with plenty of space and privacy for all. Linens, sheets and bath-towels are provided. Free wireless internet, cable TV (43" flat screen and 32" flat screen), iPOD (and/or iPhone) dock-stereo, CD-player, and DVD player with internet-ready and Netflix account access in the house. The Cottage is walking distance from markets, shopping, restaurants, C-Street and Surfer’s Point, the historic Ventura Pier, the Ventura Harbor and the famous well maintained bike and walking paths that stretch for miles along the beaches, and even into Ojai. Pierpont beach is uniquely beautiful with jetties and dunes, stunning sunsets, great expanses of sand for beach fun, and is known by many as a classic California beach treasure. Ventura’s Pierpont beach is just off the Seaward exit off the 101 Freeway in Ventura close to Summerland, Carpenteria, Santa Barbara and the Central Coast wineries.. The Ventura Harbor is filled with recreational and fishing boats, easy access boat rides to the pristine Channel Islands National parks, as well as the Channel Island museum. Also spend time in rejuvenated downtown Ventura on Main St., with its fine-dining restaurants, movie theaters, clubs and entertainment. Ventura, License: LIC 4-11 299

About The Owner

Our family of 5 love this beach cottage! Our kids have grown up at the beach from age 3 to 15. The kids have the freedom of the car-free bike trails along the beach, walking to the local shops and restaurants, as well as all of the beach stuff, from boogie-boarding, surfing, football on the sand, to relaxing with a good book. My wife and I walk along the beach everyday that we are there, both in the morning to see the dolphins, and in the evening to get the sunsets.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2007

Why The Owner chose Pierpont Bay

Where the Ventura River meets the ocean is spectacular. Pierpont Beach is a California treasure, and the perfect family beach. Walking and biking as a family provides memories for a lifetime.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage has one of the largest, if not the largest, useable yards in the whole beach community. Our kids love to take a dip in the hot tub and play in the yard, or barbeque after a day at the beach. It is a quiet yard, with grass, flowers and echoes of the waves.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved this darling beach cottage! The sunsets were beautiful. My husband and I are semi-retired. We loved the relaxing atmosphere, and the attention to detail in the cottage. He would take endless walks on the beach, and I enjoyed reading and relaxing. The location is excellent, and we would recoomend this cottage to any family or couple for a vacation. We definitely want to come back!

Nice Beach House Vacation, almost a 5 star!

  • 4 of 5

I would actually rate it a 4.5 star, but I wasn't given the option. There were many good things about our stay here, and only a few minor details that could be improved. First the good! The owner was very good with his communications; timely and friendly. The beach house was as expected; roomy for the six of us (Dad, three kids 9,6 and 5, and my wife and I.) Rooms were open, airy and comfortably furnished, with nice windows and fresh air breezes in the evenings and when needed. Beds were comfortable, the middle child actually preferred the sleeper couch in the living room to the bunk bed, but she's our little rebel :) Linens and towels were furnished and quite adequate. The back yard was spacious and beautiful, exactly what you would expect in a California beach home, maybe even a bit larger then we expected. Back yard furniture was plentiful and comfortable, making evening dinners and coffee "al fresco" very pleasant. The outdoor shower was a welcome feature after the beach, and the clothesline in the back was perfect for drying those beach towels afterwards. We aren't spa users, so that feature was never explored. Now those pesky little things. The front gate to the house would scrape on the ground when opened, just enough to be annoying. The sound unit in the living room was non-functioning, at least when I tried it with an iPhone and an iPad. No joy! I even tried replacing the battery on the remote. I followed all the instructions so I don't think it was me. The bathroom is a bit small, no room for shaving kits or anything that require a counter. The dish washer got a "C-" from the wife. Just didn't seem to get the dishes clean. The kitchen knives really need a good sharpening. The utensils were plentiful, lots of good pots and pans etc, but I do love sharp knives. The house was steps from the beach, by definition, but in actuality, the beach we used was the Ventura Harbor Marina beach, which was much more "kid friendly" for my little ones. It wasn't far, maybe a few miles down the road, and worth the trip. The Pier beach ( about a mile and a half away) was also a nice option, and if you parked in the big parking garage next to the hotel, any of the beach restaurants or hotels would validate your parking ($2/ hour) Minor things, I know, but I though it worth mentioning, as with the good! The "all and all"? It was definitely a good experience, and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants the whole "beach house" experience vacation

Owner's Response: I'm sorry the guests did not mention the sound system problem in the living room to me. I think a quick chat could have resolved the problem. I think that the guest must not have turned something on correctly or the battery they installed in the remote was not good. My family came just after the guests left for our own vacation. In fact, we are using the beach house now and the sound system works just fine. I did replace the battery in the remote as upon arrival I plugged my Ipod in and noticed the remote did not work. I turned it on manually though and it worked fine. I replaced the 3 volt lithium battery in the remote and the remote works fine as well. So, I am not sure what type of battery the guest installed. That may have been the problem. I don't know. But the system (a Bowers & Wilkins) and its remote work fine now. Re the dishwasher: it is relatively new and in good condition. The hard water at the beach does make cleaning difficult. The hard water marks are still hard to get off, even with a hand wash. Usually I have a rinse aid under the sink to add to the wash with the detergent to help. I'll try to keep a stock of it. And, I'll purchase a few more sharp knives. Thanks for the tips. Re the gate: We just lift it a little upon opening and then it does not scrape. But I will look into it to see if I can improve it. In any event, I'm glad the guests' overall experience was good.

Beach cottage lived up to the stellar reviews

  • 5 of 5

This is perfect little beach cottage - prob 75 yds to the beach. Rooms were great, owner Jeff was super helpful and responsive. Loved the art and 'surf' feel of the the place. The hot tub and surprising spacious back yards were nice touches for sure. Perfect for a family of four.

Cozy and Charming!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay here in Ventura. Jeff provided excellent details for our stay and responded to our questions quickly and enthusiastically. Great host!

We enjoyed the short walk to the beach (with some beach chairs provided) and the occasional stroll over to the yogurt shop a few blocks down. At night, we dipped into the hot tub and relaxed under the stars.

The backyard was spacious and if we had guests over, it would be perfect for having a BBQ with some friends or family.

Be sure to try the sound bar when watching movies and iPod Speaker for when you're lounging or cooking in the kitchen. It can get warm in the afternoon so utilize that ocean breeze by opening up the sun roof/windows & turn on that fan.

We would stay here again, especially if we plan more time at the beach.

Clean and conveniently located with everything you could need

  • 5 of 5

Jeff is proactive with communication giving detailed instructions which made the stay easy and enjoyable. The house itself is clean, well maintained, furnished with everything you could need, and in a great location; walking distance to shops, a bar, and the local trolley route to town. The place is very homely and clearly their treasured weekend getaway which, should you need it, is inspiration to be respectful and good tenants. My family had a fantastic stay and the transaction was easy with Jeff. Would recommend Jeff and his property, especially for families.

Cozy beach cottage

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at the beach cottage. The location to the beach was perfect. The restaurants and grocery store were convenient. The backyard was spacious and lovely with the hot tub. The mattress in the bedroom was soft and you rolled into the middle, while mattress in the family room was on a futon and sagged on one side. The shower head was great in the bathroom. We really appreciated the washer and dryer. We were unable to get wifi the morning we left. We loved the location and really enjoyed staying there and would come again.
