About Mark Hopper
The owners are Texas natives, but migrated to Austin after 25 years in San Francisco. One is a house stager and the other an engineer, which is why this house is so beautiful! The 2nd story, and master suite, is a new addition added to the Hopper Hideaway just a few years ago.
Mark Hopper purchased this House in 2006
Why Mark Hopper chose Clarksville
This home is located in the Clarksville neighborhood, which has easy access to shops, numerous eateries and coffee houses. Easy walk to Whole Foods and centrally located to events and city attractions.
What makes this House unique

Beautiful house and perfect location
Six of us stayed here for a 60th birthday celebration , and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house is large with a well stocked kitchen, beautiful backyard and numerous decks to enjoy a glass of wine or two! It has comfortable rooms with beautiful, unique art decor. It is within walking distance to downtown, whole foods, restaurants and beautiful lake walks. The owners, Mark and Jeannie were quick to respond with any questions and were and so accommodating. I would highly recommend this house for your next visit to Austin!
Hopper Hideaway Was Heavenly
A couple of friends and I recently stayed at the Hopper Hideaway and could not be more pleased with our experience. It was the perfect option for SXSW instead of staying at a pricy hotel. Mark & Jeannie were so welcoming, they even provided a gift basket and stocked pantry! The house was immaculate, spacious, and in the perfect location to get around town. I highly recommend Hopper Hideaway.
Wonderful location. Stunning view of downtown Austin. Plenty of places for gathering and privacy.
A group of 5 women in our 50’s and 60’s rented the house for a 4 day girls trip. Chosen mainly because of the location in an interesting near town neighborhood, we were blown away with the eclectic decor, the garden, and the beautiful views of downtown Austin, especially at night from the second floor balcony. There were multiple spaces to both gather all together and to get privacy. The owners left wine, cheese, fruit, etc. in a well appointed kitchen. We were delighted with our stay!
It was a pleasure to accommodate the girlfriend reunion. We are so pleased the house met your expectations and so appreciate the tidy way we found it upon our return. We loved sharing and hope y'all make it an annual getaway! Thanks!
We really enjoyed our stay at this rental home! It was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of SXSW but still walking distance to adorable shops, restaurants, and a quick ride away from the action. Lovely neighborhood and hospitable hosts....we loved their charming home. Thank you!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Hopper Hideaway! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Come back soon y'all :)
Homey and Beautiful !!
Great location, plenty of everything we needed, gorgeous home, and we can't wait to stay again!
These guests were terrific! The house was in perfect condition, with only the linens to wash; this made it so easy to prepare for more guests that same day! Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Come again soon!
Beautiful and Artistic Retreat
My husband and I stayed here with another couple for Austin City Limits, and this is the most warm and creatively curated home we have ever had the pleasure to rent. The gorgeous garden kept us entertained with bird and squirrel action, and there are interesting things to look at all through the house. We were welcomed by an outstanding basket of goodies upon arrival as well. We walked home from the festival each night after getting a pedicab lift to the Congress Bridge, so it is a great location for the festival especially.
We feel so fortunate to have nice guests in our home who not only respect the property but actually appreciate the special character of the house and the fun collections within! It is such fun to share and to have such nice people come and enjoy Austin. Thank you for taking the time to review us!
Walk to restaurants, cafe's, Whole Foods Market, Book People, Waterloo Records, and much more. Easy access to downtown (festivals!), and University of Texas campus.
